I just sat down with my 75 pound basset hound and watched this video with him. He told me that, after watching the video, he’s going to start acting like a calm schnauzer when it’s time for eye drops and totally cooperate
@@ScottayH29 wait until there asleep.. my dog will absolutely not let you clip it's nails.. so I will do 1 or 2 a night for a week or 2 weeks straight if I have to.. hold the medicine in your hands and stare at him while saying in your head, you have to go to sleep sometime.. lol..
I'd bet 99% of the people who watched this thought it was to give pointers on how to do it while your dog is going stark raving mad. Even when my dog is sound asleep, as soon as I get close enough to drop one in, she knows whats coming and bolts. She puts up such a fight, I worry she may hurt herself trying to get away.
+Cathy Lampkin You'd be correct on that! My dog was not a happy camper and there was no way she was sitting so sweetly for those drops. It's a full on assault to get them in at our house.
How much sedative was this dog on? My lab mix is not at all aggressive, but she’s not stupid. After the first application, she recognizes the ointment tube and ratchets down the eyelid.
What if your dog isn't like this calm, what if your dog is literally like every other dog, you know, not medicated to participate in your you tube video
my dog is a queensland healer so it only took twice for her to realize that every time i have my hands where his are she knows that drops are coming so i have to wake her up and put them in before she's fully awake
Scratched cornea on my dachshund and I don't know if the medicine is even getting into his eye. He's kinda calm, but his eye is swollen and he keeps it shut tightly when the ointments are about to be applied. They know. Not easy with a moving target and trying not to touch the tip to the eye. $100 on meds I'm not sure I'm even getting in there the right way.
I have a miniature schnauzer she's 15 and 1/2 years old,Raven 🐾🐾,,and I'm going to try this on her left eye - she got some kind of infection we are on vacation, did my research.. I'm just going to do the ointment. The video was fantastic thank you so much .. your dog is gorgeous
The more you do it, the more they trust you. BAH! My dog is really good at the beginning and then she gets sick of it and it gets harder and harder despite me getting her to lay down a million times without putting anything in her eyes.
Some pets just won't cooperate when it comes to giving eye drops or pills (we have a couple ourselves). One thing you could do is call your veterinarian and see if there is an alternative to the drops. Also, sometimes you might need to have a helper and your veterinarian can give some tips about how to comfortably hold a dog (even a bigger one) when giving medications. They might need to show you, as it's kind of hard to explain, but easy to actually do! Good luck!
Bullshit! Let's see him try this with a dog that's scared/nervous/aggressive. Having to do this three times a day for a week... This is like torture and it's cruel when the dog you love/who loves you starts to become scared of you. Vets invent a damn pill.
My dachshund according to my vet has the beginning of kcs, unlike your dog there my dog will not permit me to come hear him with the systane drops, will need to find another way to correct the dry eye issue, any other natural options such as fish oil to his food which some say works ? Anyone have a agressive dog with the same problem
All these videos are with small and cam dogs. My dog is an angel with every situation but bring him into to his meds and it’s like he’s goku and I’m freeza
I hate doing this. I wonder how many owners poke their animals eye out with that long metal tip. It's ridiculous that they expect pet owners to do this. Why the f* is the tip a long thin metal pipe. Its like sticking a needle up to their eyeball. It's so sketchy and unsafe! Its the year 2013, how have they not invented a better applicator yet?
