I am learning so so much on your channel! Thank you for doing all of this :) I learned more from your videos than I did in my nail class (it was only a two day class, but still), like sanitation, not reusing files, capping the free edge with short nails, how to use the drill better and more efficient. Looking forward to learn more as you post more videos :) Also really want to know how high the apex should be when the extension is short vs long, cause the nails I put on my step-mother-in law broke when she changed her sheets, and those were relatively short. a little less than a quarter of an inch outside the fingertip.
As someone who keeps their nails short, is quite active in/outdoors with my 3 kids, I used to go to the salon every 3rd, sometimes 4th week. This was back when there wasn't much gels available, especially here in Alaska! The place I was going to had a gentleman who was extremely adept at the application of acrylics, but he retired & the new guy (family owned business, his son, daughter, & wife also worked together) had an issue with "buffing" my nails after removing the old acrylic down to the quick!!! I once lost almost 3/4 of my thumbnail because of that, of course I haven't had my nails done since, roughly 20yrs ago & single no kids. Seeing these types of videos, I think I'd like to get certified so I can do other's nails along with my own, legally, properly, & professionally with the best tools available. I'm curious, whether or not I should start with gels or acrylics? Thanks to The Nail Hub, I'm learning tons also! I only own about 100 different shades/brands/finishes of nail polishes, files, etc I think it's time to upgrade. Thanks for sharing & have a great day today!
Same here.. I always say let me practice on your nails and he says no before I can get all the words out.. I swear this man is afraid to get anything on his hands but concrete.. so he should be using cream bc I have seen him get some pretty wicked concrete burns and they are so deep.. my daughter was in the NICU so he'd put latex gloves on and you could literally see the glove down in the hole of the burn 😮.. pretty crazy how it can burn the skin
I'm about to use an at-home DIY gel kit and lamp for the first time, and this was VERY helpful for a first-timer with gel. Thank you so much for taking the time to make and post this!!!
i absolutely love these videos! They are absolutely one of a kind and I love them. I feel like i am safely learning how to perform my own processes and feel like I will be able to do my own manicures without jeopardizing safety and cleanliness. I have never seen another nail tuber go to this length to teach us diy'ers and new people that want to learn!
This is the best video ever, perfect and very professional gel manicure. I'm a professional nails tech and I love your video, perfect vocabulary, excelente way to do nails and great illumination on video.
Thanks for explaining things so well in your videos. You don't just teach us how to be a nail tech, you teach us how to be a *good* nail tech. And an undertone of chemistry lessons in there too. Absolutely love it!
Thank you Liz. I always felt clients would not get the one nail at a time method so I didn't do it. Now that I see you have done it and how successful it is I realise it's not going to look bad or unprofessional. TYSM! I will put it into practice. One little tip if you want to see for yourself concerning capping that I learnt. I was told if a nail is very thin you can get away with capping really well just once with the colour coat meaning you can skip on the 2nd colour coat. This will avoid thick nail tips. Also when capping, instead of applying on nail surface first, I cap then I apply on entire nail. This really helps avoid the thick tip. CND teaches this and it has helped me. Just an idea for anyone wanting to try.😊
I've learned that buffing the nails prior to applying gel polish is so that it has something to adhere to. Back when I had my nails done at least once monthly with acrylic 20yrs ago, same principles. I stopped because of almost losing an entire thumbnail to an overly zealous buffing session!
Hi Liz 😀 I would like to say a massive thank you! It makes a huge difference watching and listening to a real professional. Although I spent double the time it took you to do everything, I am so happy and proud of succeeding in doing my gel polish and prepping my nails without any wounding or needing to fix anything, as it happened before. I didn't even feel the panic or anything of the sort while listening to your calming voice. So, thank you so much and please, do keep teaching us - the novices diy-ers - all the good lessons that we need to learn from you! 🙏🙌🙌🙌😉
For DIY-ers it’s difficult to cure each finger and paint another at the same time. I still think it’s a good idea because no matter how careful I am with the wet nails, I still damage. Curing one by one may take a bit more time for DYI but I think it’s worth it.
Thank you very much! I am a DIYer myself and I appreciate all the instruction! I'm having alot of fun figuring out how to do my own gel nails. Been watching alot of your videos, they are extremely informative. Thank you!!!
I have watched a LOT of nail videos and this is one of the most informative videos I have seen. Youngnails is doing some really good ones right now since the brother is learning and he asks the right questions that help us. You answer them all without asking! How wonderful! I am a new subscriber and Yes, I clicked on the bell. :)
Hey Liz! Thank you so much for making all these informative videos! As a beginner in gel, I was able to paint my own nails using potted gel for the first time to near perfection after watching your videos! And they lasted for 2 weeks without any chipping!
Liz I love your instructions in your videos. I have never used gel but you make me want to try. Thank You for sharing. Learning from a real professional pro is best ❤️
I love that your husband was you client for this video. When I was learning how to polish my husband was my client and we used red polish.... thank you for sharing🥰
Fantastic video! Thank you so much for sharing, I am a retired Cosmetologist and I like to do my own nails on my own schedule so your tips will definitely help me to give myself better results when doing my own gel manicures. I am most certainly subscribing and watching many of your other videos, thanks again and your Husband is a trooper😉
My first time doing my nails with gel . My husband got me the UV light for Christmas. I did black and it came out beautiful. I can’t wait to learn more 💗
I tried this technique on myself last night and I love being in control of the gel!! A plus! Yet again you rock. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. Greatly appreciated, have a great day
Thanks so much Liz, I tried this with my client this morning and it went well,,, she even appreciated having something to do by keeping her eye on the timer on the lamp lol.. these videos are absolutely a must watch for anyone doing nails! xxx
I love how thorough and detailed you are! You mentioned that your "model"😆 Has ski jump nails (which I do also, didn't know this was a thing), can you discuss other types of nails you encounter and how to work with/correct them to create a better application?
So informative and helpful! I’ve just started nail school and have yet to do a basic gel manicure. These are tips I will definitely keep in mind. Thank you!😊
I can't imagine getting or giving a better manicure. Absolutely impressive! I can't even guess how you could improve on this. You are truly an artist. Finding someone to give manicures even close to this level has to be next to impossible! WOW! Priceless....
This was quite handy. I've been successfully applying my own gel polish for a few years now but the tips here helped me to tweak what I have been doing. I thought that doing one or two nails at a time would slow me down but it doesn't and the results are really professional. Thank you.
Your videos are full of nails academic. I learned a lot from your videos. Keep on doing this chanel, it's very useful for many people who want to be nails artist. Wish you have more and more subscribers. You do the best.
Thank you so much for doing this. I was so bummed by all these videos that rushed thru or just didn’t show the small menial steps. And really appreciate you talking thru it all.
Thank you for doing these videos on Nail Fundamentals. These have been so helpful, informative and really easy to understand. I am a diyer myself and have learnt so much form these videos.
I have been so hesitant to try gel polish, because of fear of damaging my natural nails. I finally decided to give it a try, and so far, this video has been so full of helpful tips and tricks! I love how you explain consequences of your decisions. Just loads of info, TFS!!!
Not boring at all... beautifully done...enjoyed the video and thank your hubby for his kindness in letting you do color polish on him...😊 You are a real Pro... Will visit many times, thanks.
I love that one finger technic. It looks so much easier. Now I'll be doing this on myself and anyone that I do to make the work so much easier without the worry of the possibility of messes occurring. Thank you so much for the fantastic tips.
This video is GREAT! Due to back issues I wasn't able to go to school like I had planned. This video really is helping me learn skills I would have loved to learn in school. Love your husband's support. Love the orange polish. Alot more men do get manicures and pedicures than people realize. So it's great that this video is being done on a man. (Some do even get color). Much love and blessings to everyone. And please, everyone stay safe!🕊💝👄🙏
These nails are PERFECTION and you are such a wonderful teacher! Can you recommend some easy or telltale ways you can tell if your nail tech is doing a good job?
Love your videos I passed my gel extenstion nail course a few years ago and I went through a rough patch and stopped but now im ready again to refresh my brain and get cracking again xxx
Thanks for an amazing lesson. I’ve never done gel, so I wanted to check out videos so I have a idea of what to expect. Your video was the best girl. Peace ✌🏽
After watching your video I'm a little bit in shock because of what my nails have been through. Earlier this year I had my first experience with gel nails and the technician broke out a multi-tool (or dremel) and sanded my nail plate down to virtually nothing and they're super bendy and flimsy to begin with. I noticed after a while my fingers hurt, and after I removed the gel myself a while later when it was starting to grow out, I had splinters of dried blood. Pressure on my hands hurt and it took a good six months for the damage to grow out. When I look at yours in contrast where you're using a buffing tool, I can't believe these people are still in business. I refused to get a top up on my nails or to go back again because of the amount of damage caused. Thank you for doing this video and educating me, I'll be sure to be super careful on who I pick to do my nails in the future if I ever have the guts to try again.
I love your videos I’m learning things I didn’t even know I need to learn. Like your video on filing. Omg I thought I was filing right, but you showed me better. Thank you so much for doing this your an awesome teacher.
Thank you so much for this video! I am always concerned about the service time.. I did nails for a couple friends and family members but I always take so long. (I really love nail art, so maybe that is one reason) On my own nails I take like 6 to 8 hours.. 😶🤯 I tried different ways to do it faster but it always ends up being so long. I hope I can finish a full set in 40 min. some day , too. Love your very educational videos! Bless you 🌟
You're not alone :D it takes me like 5 hrs with the removal and a fresh gel mani. sometimes I do 2 sets, take the old coat off one day and put a fresh one on the next :D it lasts though, I can go 4 weeks easily
You just a solve a problem for me, when I do a clients nails I also hold the fingers downwards so that gel does not end up on the cuticle, but when I do my own I hold them flat, no wonder I get gel on my own cuticles, never entered my mind! Love watching your videos!! 🤗💞💅🏼
Your demonstration and instructions are excellent. You have an incredible professional voice, as well as presentation. I wish you were located in my town. You did an exceptional job on your model. He really is a good sport. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your time and dedication that you put into your videos. I tried it for the first time (on my toes!) and it came out pretty good. I got all the tools as per your recommendation and it's great to be doing gel instead of normal cutex. I am going to try it on my teenager and see how it goes. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing it was very helpful I’m just learning about gel nails at home for myself, so you are my teacher, I’ll be watching your videos , be safe
Your videos are awesome. I am usually really lazy on commenting on RU-vid videos because they all seem same but the information you are sharing is so valuable and so informative than any other nail channel and nail schools. Wish you all the success. You truly are changing people’s life. Thank you so much. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
How funny throughout the whole video, every time I had a question in my head, you would answer my questions seconds after as if you knew what I was asking you. Lol Too funny but that only goes to show how dedicated you are & not only are you teaching us as you go but also answering questions we might have. You are an absolute unavailable genius teacher! The best!!! 💕🌸💖
Thank you so much for your videos. Just tried out doing one finger at a time, and wow it made such a difference in my work. Now I just need to work also in my time, but that will come with experience.
Thank you! This was not boring. I was a nail tech when acrylics came out :-) Ya I know I am dating myself. However, I made some career changes over the years and now I am coming back to nails. So I really appreciate al l your videos so I can sit for my test again. Ty
Nothing boring about this I've spent almost all my life 54 years this year just trying to have nice nails and you have answered my most important question can I use gel polish on my natural nails so thank you very much xx
His nails look amazing I would be happy for mine to look that great just goes to show short can look great too. Learnt a lot from this today thank you and thanks to your hubby for being such a great model and good sport
Liz, I love your videos and am saving them in a playlist to help train newbies. Thank you! I do, however, have to disagree with you about the non acid primer. Here in the South, our humidity comes and goes so intensely, our clients nails constantly swell and shrink. Primer on the whole nail is the only way we stay in business here, especially in summer.
I'm so impressed with your series of tutorials on how to do your nails step by step instructions for me I really appreciate your time and patience , I have been struggling with how to do my nails properly ,I'm a real beginner to this ,so I have to listen and go back to each step many many times believe me . Really want to be a professional in a day lol !!! Thank you so much for sharing your time and effort you put into each step .
