Hi. This product needs to soak into the timber to protect the timber. If the stain is film-forming it will not be able to penetrate the wood. For the best results, we would recommend wood that is bare or wood that has just been pressure treated or tanalised.
Someone did my windows for me, I specifically told them to apply it thinly. They did not, they applied it thickly, 3 days later its still tacky and feels like a plastic coat over the wood. Will it soak in eventually. What should I do?
Unfortunately, once the product is sitting on the surface of the wood it's likely it will not penetrate as the grain is already full of oil. You could try and wipe over the surface with methylated spirits on a lint-free cloth to take off the excess. If that does not work, I would recommend seeing how the oil is performing in the next week or so. Worst case, the excess would need to be sanded off and another thin coat applied. Hi, No, spray application is also not recommended as it applies the product too thickly. It is really important that the UV Protection Oil is applied sparingly as over-application can result in saturation of the grain. This forms a skin on the surface of the wood and is detrimental to the durability of the product. Hope that helps.
I just bought a can of interior osmo for a workbench project and it turned out ace 👍 so much so that I’ve bought this uv osmo for a garden feature I’m working on, I can’t wait to try it 🤓
