I too noticed the wires going into the cake directly. I never would. However, I would dip the wire ends in chocolate coating to make a barrier between the wire/floral tape & the cake. Safety first!!!!
How do you arrange sugar flowers on cakes without wires and they be secure? Because I HATE using anything none edible on a cake. Sorry if I sound sarcastic lol I'm not trying to, I honestly would like to learn a better way.
+Sweetly Southern Bakery you insert into coffee straws with melting chocolate. then insert into the cake. Those wires are NOT food safe. or you could use the wilton flower spikes
I wish she'd start teaching again and I wish Howcast would make ALL her videos from "Cake Made" work, after buying that company out! I had bought her wonderful tutorials on Cake Made, but one day that website came to an abrupt end.
I am confused about the whole wire issue. I have seen them stuck right into the cake( they are covered with floral tape) and I have seen them inserted using a cel pic. I dont know which is right or a better method?????
I've been trying watching a lot of youtube videos to work out how to insert sugarpaste flowers into a cake and have learned that in the US they can push wires straight into a cake but in the UK (or EU more specifically), food safety regulations prevent us from pushing wires into an edible product and so we have to use a food grade plastic flower cake posy pick to place wires in before its inserted into the cake. There is such a stink about wires these days. Do you use something to cover up the wires or do you worry about it at all. People are confusing us about wires.
I'm sorry, I couldn't watch this right through. I was put off when I couldn't believe you were putting the flowers directly into the cake. It's a cake, not a piece of flower arranging oasis. This practice isn't good safe. Teaching flower arranging on a cake, sorry just no.
