I consulted a friend about this and this is what he said and I quote: Josh, everyone thinks your funny, it's just you. I didn't know what to think. We do have a lot of common interests. I've always been the quiet kid at school and this year (my Senior year) I decided to do something before I regret it. There's this girl, we'll call her Jenny and a buddy that I met this year, we're going to name him John. So Jenny is a girl that I met this year through extracurricular activities and I have her in my lit class. So John and I have been friends for close to 2 months (I met him through my Physics class and we know each other through a club at school too) and I've been friends with her close to 2 months. Okay, now with my question, I've recently been getting a feel for Jenny and you know, I think she's really pretty and has a great personality and is just downright awesome. John is a cool dude but he was a lot quicker than I was. He asked her to Homecoming today and I at first wasn't planning on asking her since it was too soon and too fast (I think) so I guess I lost in a way. I know friendships to expand and I think John and me will be good friends by say, in the next 3 months or so and same will apply to Jenny. So with all of that in mind, I start feeling awful. I've never been a very social guy and often am anxious talking to people but I honestly want to change. And this is where my confusion actually comes, after a homecoming, are they "dating" or is that just dependent on where they take it? Also, say they don't take it any further besides a homecoming and I ask her out to prom, would the relationship between me and John suddenly become awkward? Thanks bro, I just think she's great, I know most guys will be like, DAMN THOSE CURVES DOE or something like that but I feel like I'm more of a guy looking for pure amazing, you know? The girl I'm talking about (Jenny) is just amazing lol. Her eyes are great, her motives are great, what she does to help people is great, what her ambitions are is great and I feel like we have all of that in common. I just don't have extended conversations with her just as I said before, I'm socially anxious and I absolutely hate that, I wish I was like other guys who just have an easier time at this.
