Hi, Lance! I am an adult who hasn't played in 20 years, but recently picked my flute back up. So happy to find your channel. I'm starting all over again with basics. Keep the videos coming. 🎵🎶
Hi Sally! That's wonderful! There will be another video tomorrow and more over the coming weekends so be sure to check back. Best of luck with your new flute journey and let me know if you have any questions in the future!
I am a retired music teacher traveling in an RV I have a friend I taught recorder to, now she has a flute. I will recommend your videos. You speak clearly. She is 12. You explained the steps very well. Thank you
Thanks! I am a student and I found this video really helpful. I'm tying to learn how to play the flute in school. Also, I tried cleaning my flute with toilet paper and it got stuck inside :(
Hi Lance! My name is Bess. I was wondering and hoping if you could explain flute cases. I just purchased a B-foot flute and was surprised by how complicated buying a case and a bag turned out to be. Any advice you would have would be great! What case do you use?
Hi Lance! Thanks for the video! I got this same flute a couple of days ago (in black) and I've got a problem. The footjoint is extremely hard to put in and take off. I've read that for the first weeks that's normal, for a new flute, but I think this could be a bit too much. Any tips on how to make that step easier? Thanks in advance!
First advice is don't use the joint grease they provide. That can actually make the problem worse. Start by cleaning both ends of the connection using rubbing alcohol and a soft cloth. Hopefully the fit should improve after that. If not, I would consider returning and getting a new one.
Hi Lance. I have been using a clarinet swab to clean my flute. The Hodges silk which has a very tiny plastic drop on the end of the string. I just drop it through the flute like cleaning a clarinet. Anything wrong with this method? Will the silk absorb moisture in a metal flute like it does in a clarinet? Thanks for help
A lot of times these swabs have metal in the tip. Personally, I would not want to drop that down the flute. Also, it’s probably not effective at swabbing the headjoint. The best/cheapest solution is a plastic cleaning rod and cotton handkerchief.
@@LanceSuzuki Thanks Lance for the handkerchief suggestion. The Guaze that came with the yamaha is unraveling. Thought the loose fibers could get hung up in flute
