Very helpful, thank you! One tip: when inserting the microphone, it's actually a "bayonet" mount - so you insert it into the slot and then twist it 90 degrees before turning the screw to lock it. That helps keep it from falling out.
Excellent video. Very concise yet thorough. Made setup much easier. Thank you! Setup: RE20, 309a shock mount, RODE PSA1 arm, into the Clarett 4 Pre interface. Application: Podcasting, web conferencing, VoiceOver work, studio vocals.
THANK YOU. We're being asked to work from home and the engineers just sent up a truckload of stuff with no instructions, of any kind. This shock mount was the one element that seriously baffled me.
Thanks for this video! It has been very helpful. One note: TheEVMicGuy suggested rotating the mic a little bit so that the slot and the pin don't line up anymore (around 8:06 in his video).
Thanks very helpful. I did setup mine as well. Which boom arm or microphone you suggest for this heavy mic+shock mount? Is Rode boom arm the best? or any tripod floor stand would work?
Any idea what screw/bolt size would fit the 309a's mic retention? (the part where the mic is held and the screw is used to lock the mic) I got one at a discount, just without that specific screw. Approximate length, diameter and thread would be very helpful! :)
