mBot is a great kit for children begin to learn about robotics and programming. This is the first video of a review for Makeblock mBot. Note that I'm using a LiPo battery (not included in the kit) instead of 4xAA batteries.

Just got in my LiPoly batteries from Adafruit and wanted to ask if you are removing the battery to charge it or can it be charged by plugging in power to the Arduino. Otherwise, I'm looking to "wedge" in a Micro-USB LiPo charger to avoid the hassle of constantly removing the battery. Thoughts?

+Charles McKnight I remove the battery to charge it. Arduino board can't charge the battery. I use this charger www.sparkfun.com/products/10217

+MechDickel Hmm, I'm thinking about mounting the charger on the robot. I think there's room and then I'd only need to use the USB instead of wearing out the velcro. I'll let you know how that goes.

How do you open the battery for the little black remote?

Do you mean to change the battery? The battery slot has a small hollow, where you pull with your fingernail or a tool.

Do you need to use both the 4AA batteries and the Lithium batteries together? By the way, I don't see in the video in which moment you connect the batteries

@@MechDickel Thanks for the rely. At the moment I have assembled all, the batteries are there as well. The remote control does not have batteries yet. I turn it on and I can see the lights, but it does not move. What is the default behavior? Does it move with the remote control only? Or should I program it first? In short I would like to know what does the robot do by default when I first turn it on?

As I can remember the "default" is "idle" waiting for remote commands. With the remote we can choose OBSTACLE AVOIDING and LINE FOLLOWING options. If you have the bluetooth version, you can also control it with a smartphone and its app.
