When attaching your fabric, you should roll your finished "cross stitch" scrolls to the inside of your scroll rods. So when you are handling your stitchery frame you are touching the back of your fabric and stitchery. Keeps your stitchery clean and safe from dirt and oils from being handled by your hands. I really like how you lace the sides of your fabric, I will definitely try this with my cross stitch. Great video!

I just found your video (November 20, 2019), and I firmly believe that now I can successfully do this! I'm not had any confidence before, and my earlier attempts have not been successful. Thanks a lot.

So happy to see you do this. I did the same thing. It seems to work much better and after some research I found that in olden days this is what was done as well. Lovely. Thanks.

Thank you for this, even though it is a few years old. I have used my scroll frame basically to just find my project. My Dimension printed fabric is loosely on it but even though it started out tight, my cats for some reason love to lay on it when I put it down so now it is just........there. Tehehe.....guess I'll work on that tonight. It did not occur to me that I should do anything with the side-to-side tension. You explained this very well.

New subscriber, I’m putting a giant Golden Kite pattern/Aida on a scroll frame today, 5 ft long frame 🙄I know I’m crazy, but I wanted to know how others do these frames, as I’ve only worked in giant hoops before..Thankyou so much as I didn’t even think about my cross tension! I have a rod to rod tension stick to help with the length, but didn’t think about the side to side, Thankyou for showing this!

Friend asked "whats cross stich?" i answered - "pixels,, with colored thread" :D I'd love to create my own cross stitching designs eventually. I have a lot of favorite art and friends who do Pixel art online. Currently i'm suffering from My hands cramping holding the hoop, and i have to keep moving it around to reach all the areas which is both annoying and it has messed up my already placed threading. I've been trying to find options for a scroll frame. I found one that has a really good system in place where you dont need to stitch or tape it down, the brand was Lokscroll. Kinda pricey for me though. I like the ones with the tension rods and knobs, i think a lot of what i've seen have to be sewn onto as well. Not sure what style yet i'll go with. I recently saw clamps you can put on the side bars to keep tension on the cloth edges. Thanks for the vid

All you need is side tensioners! It would save you a TON of time from sewing and tightening your sides the way you do, and they're easily adjustable and movable! You can find a bunch on Etsy.

I made some with 3 butterfly clips and a piece of elastic with a loop tied in one end to loop around the top bar. Then I needed tiny pieces of rug grips to catch the material.

Have you considered clips with electric attached for the sides? It looks like suspenders for pants almost as those are the clips that are used (but smaller obviously). I think heaven and earth designs makes a style. That might be easier as you can move them as you move your piece.

Help please! When I was sewing with a needle by tying the fabric tightly to the frame, the thread of the cloth stuck to the needle again and again, it could not be sewn. When we insert the needle inside the cloth and take it out again, the thread of the cloth sticks to the needle. Can be sewn. What can I do now to avoid this problem?

Corrie, I have a question, I’ve been doing very big projects, over a meter length, how can I work with them? I mean, I finished one and didn’t use any scroll frame as it wouldn’t fit. It came out just fine, I’m proud of it, but I wonder how can I work with big projects. Thank you

Hi! Bit late for a comment.. but how did you get the fabric stapled to the bars? Do you have a tutorial for that as well? That would be so great! This is the part I can't easily find.

My set came like that! I would probably just use a staple gun if I had to do it myself, or small tacks and a hammer

I'm afraid of sewing the delicate fabric I'm working on to the scroll in order to pull it (to keep it taut), as it will start fraying. This is why I like both split bars on the top and bottom which hold it securely.

There is a difference between Crosstitch and Embroidery you cross stitch not in embroidery
@CorrieBerryCLB
@CorrieBerryCLB 5 лет назад
Trina Portner Thank you so much for watching my video :-) From the Cambridge English dictionary: “embroidery definition: 1. patterns or pictures that consist of stitches sewn directly onto cloth : 2. the activity of decorating a piece of cloth with stitches”. In many stitch dictionaries of embroidery stitches you’ll find a cross stitch is one of the many different stitches available in an toolkit of stitches. Just because someone chooses to only use one type of stitch (although don’t get me started on French knots, backstitch, quarter stitches, couching, amongst many many others) doesn’t mean it’s not embroidery. I hope you found the video useful anyway - they all happen on fabric (again on the whole, you can embroider anything really) and this is really a method of attaching fabric to a frame so you can do whatever you would like to with it under tension.
@europaofasguard8112
@europaofasguard8112 5 лет назад
Yeah if I stitched the fabric to the bar, the fabric would start fraying on me and would get ruined.
