I couldn’t ask for a better instructor. Your video is perfect and you never waste words, every one counts. Teachers of your caliber do not come along but rarely. Thank you.
Also THANK YOU for not playing any loud music! Great idea for the mitered corners and great presentation. So much neater and cleaner than a zigzag stitch on the miter seam.
Yes, I agree. I’m about to do my second paid job for a baby quilt with satin binding and I has saved this video in my fav video’s. There isn’t a better instruction and instructor on her. Thank you NotchesSewing.
Agreed. I've made several fleece comforters with satin blanket binding edges. I would top stitch the miter after I had zig-zagged the binding to the comforter. Not a great look, but it secured the miters closed. Your method is the best, and the best explainer video of how to do mitered satin blanket binding corners. Thank you.
BINGO!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉YOU "HIT" THE NAIL ON "THE HEAD"MA'AM! THIS,IS THE "BINDING SEWING VIDEO" THAT I WAS "LOOKING FOR!THANKS,A MILLION FOR YOUR "SEWING CHANNEL"& STAY " BLESSED"..🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Knit a baby blanket and followed your video to attach a satin binding. Love your mitered corners so much more than other tutorials. Thanks for your calming voice and step by step by details.
You are so welcome! Glad it was helpful and you accomplished it. Many years ago I was challenged to put satin binding around a couple of king size loosely crocheted blankets.😳 This is method I came up with after lots trial and error to get a perfect corner and no obvious joins. I also wanted the corner to hold the the crochet well in place.
I made a crocheted baby blanket and added a back piece of minky fleece. I wanted to piece them together using satin binding. I had watched several tutorials all claiming the simplest way and all came out looking horrible. I finally found your video. Like you said it does take a little longer but you method was far superior. The final result was better than I could have imagined. And you do a fantastic job explaining each step. Thank you a million times over.
So glad to hear this Sherry! I originally developed this method when I had to add satin binding to a super loosely crocheted blanket. I really wanted the corners to look perfect and hold strongly. I love that there are no obvious joins. Satin binding is can be tricky and when rushed or has a join on one side just looks like rubbish…. Please have a look on my channel for other projects. Take Care😊
Omgoodness!!!! I have struggled far too long trying to get my satin corners sewn correctly and your hack is amazing and it works!!!! I even followed without sound, its that easy!! Thank you!!!
Thank you for this tutorial! I just completed my first sewing project ever! I made a T-shirt blanket with fleece backing. When I started I knew I wanted satin edges, but none of the other tutorials I watched looked how I envisioned my project - especially for the corners. I’m so glad I found this video, because it made my vision come to life, and I finished my blanket today! Thank you, thank you!
Amazing teaching skills and sewing knowledge. Precise like an engineer and magic like an artist - nothing to add or remove. I'm in awe of your talent and creativity.✨️ Thank you, Angela!
Thank you for providing an excellent video on adding satin binding to a blanket. You spoke slowly, so I could understand you, and the quality of the video shots were perfect, so I could see exactly what you were doing!
Loved your video!!! Although I am using it for a different application, the theory is excellent for what I am doing. My grandaughter is a race horse trainer and has asked me to make Burgundy twill 42" squares with wide white twill mitered borders. Thought I could figure it out , but alas, not as smart as I thought I was. Your video is excellent, thank you so very very much.
Thank you so much. I haven't really sewn much in a long time but I wanted to fix a blanket for my granddaughter. I also played each part over and over again and it worked out beautifully. Great instruction and your calm voice also added to my confidence in the process.
The video was great. I have only made a couple baby quilts and still learning. First time I added a satin binding and your instructions were short and precise. Your calm voice was also helpful. . I’m so glad t have found your video instructions.
I love this way to sew the satin on blankets. I had to watch it a bunch of times as I was sewing, but I think I finally got it! Thank you so much for sharing! Great tutorial!
@@NotchesSewing I do. The Corners are so much better now. I sew a straight stitch as close as I can to the short edge before the zig-zag stitch. This seems to work better for me. I'm working on 7 lap blankets for Christmas gifts for friends who work in a cold office. Each one gets better. Lol
Hi Angela! Thank you! As you said, your process is not the easiest or the quickest but it works!👍 This is not my first attempt, but it is the first time that I’ve been happy with the results! THANK YOU!!❤
Thanks for your video..very concise and clear. I needed to replay numerous times and my corners are not perfect by any means… but,I get it and I’m going to try with fabric binding next. I think I will be able to make the corners easier…also, I used some hem tape under the binding edges along long sides to help hold in place a little more. Worked like a charm….
Great ! You do whatever it takes to make it easier. Ideally you don’t want extra stitching to show to keep it neat. You can also do big hand basting stitches to keep edges in place and pull out after. Thanks for watching🙂
Thank you “sew” much for your excellent tutorials. I was able to finish my blanket with even being short with my ribbon binding. It’s going to make our new great grand niece’s crib/bed look lovely 😊 Your tutorials are great and easy to follow…Thanks 🙏😁
This was by far the best and easiest video I've ever followed, you have gained a new subscriber. My balnket turned out perfect and the mitered corners perfect 🥰
I’m so glad!!! Isn’t it such a nice feeling when those corners turn out?! Satin binding can be a bit of a pain and look awful if not done with care. Thanks for watching and subbing😊
Angela, I want to thank you for such an amazing idea for making absolutely perfect corners. I approached my baby quilt project with so much fear using silk binding for the first time. I used my walking foot which I swear by, and now even more with silk binding. It honestly worked out better than I expected. To think how intimidated I was. Thank you again.
Thanks so much Ellie- Marie. I appreciate you letting me know. I am a real stickler for nice clean finishes. They are a lot of methods out there that leave the corners looking a bit unfinished and I could never live with a very obvious thick join in the middle of seam………. Many years ago I was challenged with putting satin binding on an heirloom knitted blanket and I wanted a nice continuous look and also strong corners in place so this is what I came up with. Glad it worked out for you too😊. Happy Holidays!
Wow! Out of all the videos I have watched your is by far the BEST! I would stress over getting the trim to look good, especially the corners. I am so glad I found your video. I just couldn't believe how simple you made it that I had to watch a few times to make sure I want missing something complicated. Thank you, thank you!!! I had the baby blanket finished in no time. YAY!!!! Looking forward to viewing more of your videos.
i loved this video, i kept backing it up and my corners are perfect, i had to rip the last one out cuz i sewed it wrong but i love that there is not alot of talking, it is right to the point and just about the project. i will watch your other videos for sure
I used your method on a hand woven baby blanket that I made & it came out very nice. Any issues were with my 77 year old fingers. Thank you very much for your video & instructions. Charlotte😅
Charlotte, I know exactly what you mean with the fingers….. Takes about half an hour in the morning before I can even make half a fist….I’ll have some more baby blankets soon. Thanks for watching 😊
Wow ty for this. I tried it for the first time with my Satin binding folded in half and it was so easy and worked every time! This is my new favourite tip for satin binding! Ty so much - easy to follow and well explained 😮
I watched some of the other video's, and you are spot on in giving easy and clear instructions on how to install the blanket binding and add mitered corners... your awesome ❤
Thank you so much for this video. I just subscribed, you saved me a headache putting satin binding on a baby quilt made with great grand dad’s western shirts whom he’ll never meet. It looks so professional!!
Thank so much my little mini blanket turned out great. It took a couple times watching the end joining for my (little brain) to catch on. But I will now use this method always for Mitred corners. I look for to watching your other tutorials. Thanks again Susan
Great video! I really needed to see this method. Like nothing I've ever seen before. Mine didn't come out as perfect as yours but nothing I do ever does. LOL Still, it comes out nicer than the way I used to do it. Thanks so much!
I started doing this over 30 yrs ago because I don’t like seeing ugly joins and topstitching on the corners to hold in place. This isn’t that fiddly as I don’t actually use clips when I make them. Hope you try😊
Great explanation! Never did a binding like this and have been looking for a precise video for a while. Exactly what I needed. Pray I can catch both sides as easy as you made this look.
Thank you so much for posting this video. I am a beginner at sewing and was able to follow your instructions easily. The result was a beautifully finished blanket.
I tried making a big blanket with a satin edge without a tutorial before, and I used just satin material instead of precut blanket satin! (It didn't really work easily) Following this tutorial will definitely help me make a version 2!
Thank you for creating this tutorial. Best one yet. And comes out so much more professional than other tutorials. Wish I found this a month ago. Will use this method from now on!
Glad it was helpful! Yes I made this tutorial as there was nothing out there with a nice clean finish for finishing ends. You can always redo the binding corners on your project . It won’t take that long to unpick and worth getting a nice result. Cheers!
Thank you Angela. Your step by step instructions were way better than the binding instructions in some of my sewing books. Now I can finally start a 13x13 blanket with the pretty satin binding I had for a while. 😆🤭 Just “seeing” how you sew it sparked my curiosity and determination. 🪡🧵Happy Sewing! ~ Lyn
Thank you Lyn. So happy to hear this! Satin binding can be tricky so just take your time, follow every step and you’ll be fine. Let me know how you go. Please have a look at some other tutorials on my channel. Cheers!
I watched this over and over and now have two baby blankets with satin binding. I tried other methods first but your method was the only one I succeeded on.
Thank you so much Angela, I really really enjoyed watching you create this beautiful and different binding on the blanket. I just absolutely love ❤❤❤❤ watching you. You’re so professional with it too. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤
Very good video. I had no idea that corners were done that way. Followed your instructions and came out with perfect corners on the baby blanket we were making, so kudos.
@@NotchesSewing Yes, this is the best mitered corners I have ever seen! A friend had made the blanket. She had sewed the 2 pieces of flannel together and turned it, making the edges bulky!! I was doubtful I could get the corners to look as nice as yours did in the video. The first corner was perfect! Beginners luck, I told myself! But the next three were just as nice. Because of the bulky edge, it took some patience to get the satin corner pulled out to the nice point, but persistence succeeded!! As another comment stated, you don’t waste words! I agree, and that persuaded me to subscribe!! I’m anticipating learning from you!!! 😊
@donnarust7546 wow that bulk definitely would’ve been a challenge. Good job! You could’ve just cut away the seam as the size would’ve stayed the same. Please have a look at a couple of my easy blanket tutorials😊
This is a wonderful video! Thank you for posting it. I used this video today for the first time and the results were perfect! Thank you so much it was so clear and easy to understand!
I couldn't get the last corner if my life depended on it!!!! Practice will help but I'm left handed and have convinced myself I can't do anything from the right!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊
