How to auto-number thesis chapters and sections in Microsoft Word 

I already wrote a thesis, a dissertation and I'm currently working on a book manuscript. Every time I need to do this I go back to this video. Thank you so much. This is so helpful, you have no idea.

I have a slight problem. When I number the first chapter, the subsections or the next chapters do not get numbered automatically. It just adds '1.' as a prefix to the first chapter. That's it.

When I add a new chapter and activate the 'heading 1' style, it does not automatically break into a new page.

Thanks for the video! However, when I apply this the font automatically changes to calibri, even though I have a different font in the document before following the steps. Any recommendations for making the heading font standard? Is the page brake between chapters automatic? It does not happen in my document.

After inserting chapter 2 how to insert numbering lik 2.1, 2.2, etc? for me it is continued like 1.7, 1.8 (chapter 2). Where did i go wrong?
