@@Mr.xDLel124 Because it's overused. It can be a cool effect, don't get me wrong. But when it's used to compensate for a lack of vocal talent, something is lost. When used subtly, or even artfully in a less subtle way, it's an amazing tool. In the hands of a lazy producer, it's a crutch.
It's like I say.... Yeah sure, I can get that perfect take.... But do I really feel like spending 5 fucking hours recording a vocal track? Um..... Nope! I'm a decent singer but sometimes your voice just isn't in top shape and the time and the takes and the over and over and over....
I really like the detailed dive into almost all of the plugin's features. I came for the graph and am leaving as a happy customer. 14 minutes and 25 seconds (+ however long it took to write this comment) well spent!
Thank you! Was looking for a video that showed exactly how to change the audio to midi. It’s just like Melodyne in that sense where you have to track the vocals in the software itself. Great stuff.
Bro I really wan to tell you thank you so much for teaching this for free. I got to Los Angles Film School for Music Production and the course I’m currently in has us using the same auto tune plug in and they didn’t teach us anything about it. You gave me the knowledge I should have gotten from my professor wich I pay for for free.
Appreciate this tutorial, not too long just the right info. Very interested now to add this to my tools. More power and keep doing these videos. You have me as a subscriber. Great job!
Thank you for the video. Great explanation. My voice is okay but I’m off on a few spots in my songs so I can’t wait to try this. Saw a lot of positive feedback in the comments.
When I use AutoTune 99% wouldn't even notice it's in use. Just because some people enjoy setting the retune speed at 0 doesn't mean we all do! I usually keep my retune speed between 10-15. I'm a decent enough singer where AutoTune doesn't even have to work that hard. She lays back and allows me to lay pipe. Every now and then she adjusts the pipe and I'm happy with it!
Thank you so much for this video. Great deep dive. One question, so when using the graph mode, after you track the performance and made all you edits do you export the now new performance onto a new track inside your DAW?
Hey, Shawn! Great question. You’re really going to have the choice of whether you want to export to a new track or not. If you want to A/B the pitch correction you did in graph mode, you are able to just turn the plug-in on and off on whatever track you’re processing. But, if you’d prefer to print that out onto a brand-new track, you do have that option as well. It’s whatever works best in your workflow! I hope this helps! I never understood the difference between bypass and remove in the advanced section. Also I wish you could see what note you’re on as the audio plays (like in AutoTune EFX, but it’s not in pro for some reason?). Good video though thanks!
How do you actually apply the changes permanently, i.e. make a change in graph, then actually save it? I save the changes to XML but as soon as you come out of the plugin, it reverts back.
Would love to know too, and the same thing with Melodyne if anyone knows? Bouncing in place is so tiring, is there a way in the plug-ins themselves to permanently apply the changes?
I was wondering if it is possible to make maybe presets with autotune with reverb and other effects as well? A while ago I did a recording session with someone from my past work and he had some setups from the son of the owner of the company, and he had like a frank sinatra preset, a post malone preset and a chris brown preset.
You would create a mixing preset called whatever you want to call it. Let say you create your new session for an artist called KAREN. In this session you have your reverb, eq, auto tune etc… you decided to that it was a good session and you wanna save the settings. In this case what You would do is save it as a template (which you can bring up in your DAW) and enjoy it every time you have to record KAREN again. Obviously every session varies so make sure you adjust your parameters as you go x
Hey! I installed the Autotune plug in and when I insert it on my vocal track in Ableton my voice stops from sounding but the other instruments continue as normal. If I add the autotune into the mixer, then ALL instruments stop sounding and only silence remains. I haven't find any explanation to this issue yet, so I hope someone can help me and let me know how can I solve it !
Hey, Berko! Great question. Auto-tune Pro X utilizes VST3 formatting and is compatible with any Cubase version 8.5.3 or later. I hope this helps! Connor Smith, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1793, connor_smith@sweetwater.com
Can you also tweak with the time of notes? On the 'compare versions' Site of Antares the pro x Version cant do it, only the Producer Version. Hope you can Help me. Ty
Hello, great question. Graphic Time editing is available in either AutoTune Producer, Auto-Tune Pro X, or Auto-Tune Unlimited. This video is a little dated so it is referring to an older version. Thanks! Jason Filloramo, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1281, Jason_Filloramo@sweetwater.com
After you change the notes on the graph manually, how do you get it to permanently change those notes? Mine are resetting to the unchanges vocal track when I close the editor.
Hey, Kyle! Thanks for reaching out. Did you check to make sure you don’t have the bypass selected? If you purchased this from us you have full access to our Tech Support team who can walk you through this today, otherwise feel free to reach out to me directly and we can go over everything. I hope this helps! Connor Smith, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1793, connor_smith@sweetwater.com
Great question! Melodyne's pitch editing screen is pretty similar to graph mode so while Melodyne and Autotune both have some unique features, you wouldn't need Autotune specifically for the graph mode that it has. Autotune's ability to process in real time and give you classic autotune effects quickly are what you should consider if you already have Melodyne. Feel free to reach out if you want to discuss the differences further! Connor Smith, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1793, connor_smith@sweetwater.com
So mine isn’t playing the note when clicking on it thereafter using “make notes”? I followed the video but mine in preferences says “play notes while moving” set to on. Is the re some hidden setting somewhere? Following your video exactly twice now and its not playing the notes so i can hear what i want to change like in flex time.

This happens to me too, I can't hear the notes I want to change when I click on them, also when I drag no sound, anyone can help? Thanks in advance! :-)
What about Caitlyn Bairstow as Tori Wade from Tobot Athlon, get an autotune from the upcoming 2024 movie Roggald On The Trip To Seaside? That would be fun that everybody's gonna love that character.
Do you need to export the vocal after wards since you kind of record it into auto tune. Or if it's applied to the track it's just making those adjustments on the original track?
Hi, thanks for your interest! That's a great question. After you've adjusted the parameters in the Auto-Tune plug-in to your liking and gotten a take that you're happy with, you would want to export it as an audio file with the processing applied. Some DAWs will also allow you to "freeze" the track, essentially rendering it as an audio file while also giving you the option to go back and make further edits if you want to. Hope this helps, and feel free to contact me directly with any further questions! Caleb Lowrey, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1620, caleb_lowrey@sweetwater.com
How do you make notes from midi? I can’t find any help even from Antares support 😭 There’s no way to make midi in a channel and then apply those notes to the vocal? I’m working in FL studio btw
Hi Ahntani, thanks for the question! You can absolutely do this with AutoTune Pro. You will use the Target Notes feature. With this activated, any MIDI track routed to the plugin will control the pitch it is tuning to! Give me a ring if you have further questions! Drake Sobehrad, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 3271, drake_sobehrad@sweetwater.com
Now show the way all the singers are using it love being controlled by the FOH engineer. For example, Reba’s M’s mic always sounds auto tuned. Maybe her engineer needs a lesson on these.
Hi, Karl! Thanks for getting in touch. You should be able to highlight the pitch correction objects you want to duplicate, then copy and paste them anywhere on the Graph. I double-checked the user manual for Auto-Tune Pro, and it doesn’t seem to mention a specific command to duplicate a pattern, but copying and pasting should work for this purpose. For more details, check out Antares’ documentation at this link: www.antarestech.com/documentation Feel free to contact me directly with further questions, and thanks again! It might be possible but since this program is a VST, which won't work standalone I believe, you need to have a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) Even if you can run it standalone, it doesn't change the fact that you need to do a lot of complicated tweaks to get that working, and I don't think that's worth it. Just use a voice changer, there are couple of them that you can buy or even crack if you wish to though I'm not recommending you to crack it..
Thanks for your interest! Auto-Tune Pro supports VST3, AAX and AU formats, so it will work in almost any major DAW. Just note that some DAW's only support VST2 and not VST3. Let me know if you are wondering about a particular DAW! Connor Smith, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1793, connor_smith@sweetwater.com
Hey, Aman! Really great question. But no, you aren't able to create different layers of harmonies in graph mode. Graph mode is going to just be for editing pitches, and seeing them in relation to the input pitch. You're going to be able to hear what that harmony could be, but not export or use those harmonies. I'd be curious what exactly you're hoping to do, though - I'm a studio engineer myself. Let me know if there's a good time to chat a bit further! Nick Pasquino, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 3230, nick_pasquino@sweetwater.com
this is just a guy messing around. im pretty sure he has NO IDEA how to draw pitch correction considering how zoomed out he is. it needs to be sine wave like the human voice. Dragonflies and purple skies, definitely some GREAT LYRICS
