Excellent video - unfortunately the service no longer works as described in your video, it seems like you no longer can use your own personal S3 buckets, I could only select an S3 bucket that CloudBerry managed. Theoretically a good product but I wanted to back up to S3 to buckets that I control myself, imagine the scenario where Cloudberry goes belly up, how do you get your data back? What it is now is not what I wanted.

Great video! My problem with these S3 solutions is knowing which files are backed up. Carbonite uses a "green dot" method so you know which files or folders have been backed up.

Did i get what aws have right now, aws only offers a backup service for hypervisor setup. If i want to back up an actual physical server or a laptop to aws i need to have a third party tool? Correct me if im wrong please.

Yes, this is exactly what I was looking for. I currently pay a company $20/month to back up my data to the cloud. I was looking for something to get rid of the middleman, so to speak. Which brings me to my questions. I saw there was a free version of Cloudberry but is there a fee for the AWS for the S3 bucket as well? if so, how do I estimate what that will be. If I am backing up more than one PC in my household, is it best to have three buckets or is it ok to put all the files into one bucket?

There is an AWS S3 calculator. It is really cheap, approximately $20USD/month/per-tb There are ways to make that cheaper with infrequent access and glacier, but then you pay a bit more if you need to recover your data. Start small and play with it so you don't get hit with any surprise bills. There is no per-bucket charge, so you can set that part up how you like.
