Nice Video. One issue - you should start out with a WARNING: Not all DVD/BluRay/4K players will play computer burned disks. I strongly suggest everyone take a blank CD disk, burn a .mp3 file to it, put it into your player and see if it throws an error. If it cannot read a CD-ROM with a .mp3 file burned from a computer - it wont play the computer burned BluRay disks.
Same here. DVDFab is the swiss army knife of video tools. I use Burn Aware, Imgburn or even my old standby CDBurnerXP to burn ISOs and BDMV files to discs and like, TechnoDad, I exclusively use Verbatim blank 25 and 50gb discs. I get few if any coasters with the brand.
Good Video.I did this with 98 percent of my DVD'S . Had problems with dual layer dvds .That as I learned was a disc issues . Since I had my Stroke in 2015.Right now not cost effective . But still interested . 😎☺
I've found that if you use an m.2 SSD on an external PCI 3.0 or even faster 4.0 to do the ripping, with at least 32gb of RAM, the process is much faster! Then transfer to your flavor of RAID for backup 🤓👍 I think having the Zappiti media player makes for a smoother playback to home theater. The Zappiti might be my next option. I've tried to play my movies directly to the LGC1 and get too many buffering issues because of the 10/100 Ethernet. The Oppo203 is hit or miss on playback and not as friendly to the eyes
Aaah man I just ditched my 8 years old laptop which was under Ubuntu... I'm getting into blu-ray authoring, wouldn't you know any free (and open source) software under Windows 11?
@@TechnoDad All your songs are groovy. Now all you have to do is sell your soul to the Devil and Hollywood will make you rich and famous. Till then...obscurity is your prize
Verbatim makes BD-50 and BD-100 discs that are ReWritable - so you can test out your burn ahead of time and not make coasters out of those expensive BD-50 and BD-100 disks
Hello, you never gave out what are using to read the 4k blu ray? Software is fine but you need to advise people what type of blu ray reader and writer you are using to burn the disk.
Hi! It depends on the blu ray drive. For computers, I do not think there's a designation for standard or 4K blu ray. I think as long as the drive can burn to a blank BD-XL disc, it will burn a 4K disc. Does that make sense?
Due Layer Bluray Discs also cost a "Pretty Penny" as well as an external Bluray burner plus DVDFAB Bluray Copy and UHD copy, they cost 125 each not both for the life time version, the 44.99 is only for one month and it's 69.99 for a year. It's Not for the average consumer on a budget.
Hi Sebastian! Great question! As of right now, BD-XL blanks go upto 100GB. I've heard of some 125GB blanks but I can't find them. So a 160GB blank is going to be hard to find.
Hey TD, I found out something interesting when trying to RIP/Backup 4K Disks. If my disk has the following copy protection the 4K drive fails to read the disk. I had this on "No Time to Die, Suicide Squad, the last Start Wars and Avengers movies. All disks failed to read or come back with scsi error trying to read the disk. Protection: AACS2.0/C v76 Data capacity: 90.86 Gb Disc type: BD-ROM UHD Number of layers: 3 PM
I apologize for my inexperience. I want to back up my films in iso. I used DVDfab (Windows 10) and I got the iso. Now I want to get the blu ray. Do I have to use another program or is the function contained in DVDfab? Second question... I am using rocky as a test blu ray. DVD fab gives me iso 50gb automatically but iso I get is less than 25gb. Could I use 25GB BluRay or I have to use the 50gb ones? THX
What i have been wanting to learn to do is, mix the video of my 3d movies, and add the Atmos track from the non 3d blu ray into a new disc. I dont know why the companies dont just add atmos to all 3d movies from the get go. Is that process hard, and do you havbe a video for that? Thanks
This won’t work with any uhd 4k movies, they are all protected and require a blu-ray drive with a non standard firmware. No drive manufactured after 2018 will work.
Hi -- I have Toast 20, which automatically encodes 5.1 audio to PCM. I'm trying to burn a bluray video with surround sound. Any solution? I think toast 17 allows for a dolby digital file but they don't sell toast 17 anymore.
If i burn a 4k bluray on hard drive, save it in nas and play the file from any device coonected to my local network will the bitrate and quality be same as playing a 4k bluray?
@@TechnoDad hi i am using dvd fab and planning to make 1 to 1 copy with out any compression ,when i was trying to set up the uhd profile in m2ts it says it uses h.264 codec is it a good codec for plex or do i need to do it in mkv forfmat to stream through plex . plex device isxbox one s kidnly reply when you free thank you
Hey TD, I have a qq for you. I don't know if you have purchased and tried ripping the new Avatar 4K and Avatar Way of the Water 4K yet. If so, can you let me know if it worked for you. I was not successful with neither movie. I tried make mkv as well as dvdfab. no luck. Thanks PM
@@TechnoDad, let me kow if it works for you once you rip it. I have a Asus drive and see on the makemkv forum several unsuccessful rips of this movie using this model drive. Thanks PM
Hi, thanks for your explanation, very informative, is it possible to edit/cut the ripped file? I want to make a shorter version of the movie, thanks again for your time 😊
I doubt there’s a disc with that much space for that. I mean you could probably do that with the single file but not as an ISO that’s readable by a player.
I followed your steps but could not make the BDXL play on my PS5 or Sony UBP-X700. The disc plays fine on Mac with the Leawo Blu-ray Player. Any suggestion?
If anyone is reading this, I got the answer. The issue is that most players don't read/play self-burned BDXL discs. I used BD-R DL 50 GB discs, and all of my players can play them. As far as I found, Panasonic UB9000 is the only one that can play BDXL 100 GB discs correctly
I accidentally purchased DVDFab Blu ray Ripper, rather than the DVDFab Blu ray Copy software. I just want to make ISO backup copies of my Blu ray movies, but I'm not sure how to do that with the Ripper software. So do you have a video on that, or can you explain the process? Thanks!
@@TechnoDad Thank you! I actually had a brainstorm after I wrote the query, and contacted DVDFab and asked to switch my payment from Ripper to Copy, and they did it in about twenty seconds. So great customer service, thumbs up to DVDFab. I don't know why I didn't think of that in the first place, sorry to ask a needless question!

I want to put Wav files and cds on Blu-ray dvdrs 25 or 50 gig imagine 40 cds on 1 disc that will play on a stand alone dvd home player not a computer! Not a data dvdr! A burned disc that will play on my Sony home player or the player in my Escalade!! Do you understand anyone??!!
You essentially want an Audio CD but with 50 000/640 MB = 78 times the normal 74 minutes = a 5 781 minute disc? First off, no audio cd player will recognize bluray or even dvd, so that won't work, and while CD-R can be used to burn Audio CD, I don't think I've ever heard of Audio DVD or Audio Bluray. The closest you can get is to rip all those CDs in whatever quality you like (320 kbps is Audio CD quality) into mp3, then burn all those mp3s onto a disc to play on whatever device can read that type of disc. My guess is there is no other solution than to make it a Data disc filled with mp3s. There is ISO but that's a strange way around it. If you want to play it in a car stereo, a simple USB thumb drive is a much easier and cheaper option.
@@TechnoDad Yeah, DVDFab lets you burn a cloned or copied disc directly to a blank disc rather than saving them to ISOs or BDMV folders. It can do the same with the Create function (for example converting an MKV or MP4 video file into an autoplay disc). As far as I know it can't just burn to disc files that weren't created by its own components. I still prefer to create ISOs or BMDV folders and then use an external program (Burn Aware, Imgburn or CDburner XP) to actually burn the discs. Sometimes an ISO or m2ts needs to be tested first before burning.
that link for DL blank blurays discs shows them as VERY expensive, $71 for 10 discs. I've been using these for years, more than 250 copies/ zero coasters. At a little more than $2 per disc, with inkjet printable surface which I use with my Canon printer and artwork from HiResCovers.nett www.amazon.com/dp/B00KOCVCP6/ref=sspa_dk_hqp_detail_aax_0?psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExNUlHSzNOMEE4R0xCJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNDM2MDUyMlI4VEY0VDdYTTY1MSZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMjEzNzUwMk1OWUpCWjJQWTBZUyZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2hxcF9zaGFyZWQmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl
