Thank you Katrina. I am a new quilter and have only used pins to baste my first quilt and have decided to use spray basting on my next one. It is so helpful to have someone helping. I’ve seen watching other RU-vid quilters lay their backing, then batting, and then their top on the floor, then using spray glue but I’m 72, and it isn’t all that easy to get up and down very fast to smooth your layers out. This is a much better idea. Thank you for this idea.🌹
Good demo girls! Thought it worth mentioning that if you let it all dry for 24-48 hours, it won't be tacky and stick to your sewing machine needle! Guess how I know.....yes I've made the mistake of quilting it within a couple of hours of applying the adhesive! Have a great day.
Yes! I've had the same experience, good advice. I'm usually so exhausted from wrestling with all the layers, that I don't feel like jumping right in to quilt, so it works out. I do love this spray; I've used it for years.
Thank you Katrina you both did a really good job there!! and had fun which is most important. Couldn't do without the 505 spray thanks for sharing with us xx
Hello! I'm still trying to catch up watching all the videos that posted while I was away visiting the grandkids. I hope you have a cheerful week ahead! Thank you for posting and sharing your talent.
Thanks for this Katrina. I have a design wall in my quilt room and after putting an old sheet on the wall I use the wall to put all the layers together instead of a table. It works well also. But I like your idea of spraying the batting and adding the fabric and then flipping it. I might have to try that on my wall.
Thank you - a very good demonstration. I haven’t tried the glue spray yet. I would also like to know the name of the quilt pattern. The quilt is lovely.
Great explanation, could you please show how to do it on a lap quilt when you’ve only got a small table? Any tips you had for when a quilt will hang off the table while you’re trying to get it together. 💜💜
Hi Katrina, I would love to see this quilt finished, will you be posting it soon? How big is the quilt you are showing and how wide will the white border be? Look forward to hearing from you.
8:25 Monday Jan 30. I tried this method but it didn’t turn out very well Both my quilt and my backing were all wrinkled after I did all the steps from video I don’t know how to fix this
When I do this method of basting, I spray the batting to the back, then I press them together. That gives me the chance to see and press out any wrinkles. Same after I spray the top onto the batting. Some may not like how crisp the sandwich gets, but I like not having wrinkles to deal with. (Sometimes I even pin the sandwich after doing all of this!)
