I think fear is a useful thing. Courage is not absence of fear. It is the ability to overcome that fear.

You are a big and obviously strong man Bjorn and I think your guidance is important for all people, not just men. As a 70 year old female I find this video about fear particularly interesting. I live alone in the oldest mountains in the world; the Appalachians in the U.S.. I think you are spot-on that knowledge can reduce fear. I'm surrounded by black bear, red wolves, poisonous snakes, spiders and everything in-between. I see potentially scary things every day but with knowledge and understanding these animals and even plants have become like parts of an orchestra each playing their role in harmony. I'm always learning how to play my part better. It feels powerful and exhilarating to know how to respect and dance with this natural world. I know you know that feeling. It's a pleasure to follow you.

Fear is instinctive, we can’t defeat it and shouldn’t seek to. We can however train ourselves to react to fear in a positive way and learn from it.

I would like to live more free, but like you said it comes with a price. My husband has Alzheimers. A brilliant and strong man struck early in life. I try to live as free as I possibly can, without jeopardizing him. But to everyone I speak, family, friends and doctors, they want me to place him in a "home". This is a fight for freedom I fight regularly.

ever since I started martial arts (boxing/wrestling) 4 years ago, I started to become less afraid of people. the competence from knowing how to fight will automatically give you confidence and lower any fear you have with people.
