I used to think that pride was confidence, so I would tell myself I couldn’t feel accomplished after I did something. But now I know that I can feel accomplished as long as I don’t look down on others
@@mattr.1887everyone does in one way or another. It's such a hidden sin. One of the best ways to fight pride is to practice doing things in private so that you do things only for the eyes of God. Fast in private, pray in private, give in private.
@OP - it's not even about feeling accomplished. It's more about giving thanks to God for providing you the opportunities and the gifts to be able to do the things you can do. Humility is being able to point back to Him in your success and come to Him in your failures and trust you can do all things through Him who strengthens you.
We were tought to be proud , be proud everyone would say . This is the trap for people set by satin . The riches , accomplishments of all sorts , great possessions , evan being in top shape or being an elite athlete. Ect people may not look down on others much at all and be humble in that respect yet suffer from an over inflation of high minded self introspection . Meaning look at what I did , syndrom. When we be giveing all the glory , honor and praise to GOD the Holy Spirit and JESUS CHRIST. JESUS is the one who has the keys that unlock those doors and gifts no man can close or shut . I'm struggling with pride my whole life, and I am praying and believing that through the transforming power of God's Word and Spirit, I will become more like Jesus.
This is so difficult. Especially for someone who struggles with social anxiety. I accidently say things that put my friends down because I view myself as better at times. My anxiety causes me to just speak my mind without realizing how inconsiderate my statement is until it's already been spoken

Thank you for your post. l can say that the more you seek God in private time, as well as in small group Bible study. The more Father God will reveal to you how to overcome these areas. I have a very low self esteem but I still find my self sounded a bit prideful at time my goal is to my humble and peacefull with people I want to be known as that humble guy and not someone with pride. I wish and pray that everyone here find this video helpfull
Same here! At certain points I feel the imposter syndrome when achieving something, while I also feel myself being prideful with what I have. Its confusing.
i im stuck betweena rock, and a hard place. I want to feel humility and humblety, but I feel as if my prides getting the best of me. and resort to low self esteem, or too much. its something that I struggle with, and is worse with my depression and anxiety. in adolescence, i know that I'm not perfect and that's fine. I know no one is, but it shouldn't stop me from being the best version of myself that I can be.

I am so performance driven that it can easily become a bondage. Perfectionism is an offshoot of pride and it is exhausting and can leave you as an emotional wreck since your view of yourself fluctuates based on how well you performed. God has been helping me focus that He wants me and not my performance and that has helped me to stop putting pressure on myself and just enjoy my relationship with him. I am a middle child and I had to perform to get attention and love. So eventually ended up believing that God too loves me only when I DO something. So what happened was I finally tried to 'earn' God's love and favour by 'performing' but became too prideful and self-righteous without my knowledge. I was prideful all along that i looked down on others that didn't ' do enough' for God and only I was was mature. Haha! Bad old days! I still struggle with that but God's been helping me to accept His love and not look at my love for Him rather His love for me which cannot be earned. Thanks for the video. Those early years really do shape your belief systems and are deeply ingrained but bless God we are new creations in Christ and we can renew our minds, therefore transforming the way we think. It's not an overnight thing but little by little we can get there

I’ve been praying about gaining the aspects of Humility: like patience and understanding w/ people and being slow to react with irritation and to not judge others. But at the time I didn’t know these were all parts of being Humble, so it’s nice to see those aspects highlighted in the video. ❤

What I sometimes do when I am faced with temptations and difficult problems, I try to say what would Jesus do? And it helps. If you haven't already you should try and I hope and trust that everyone reading this right now the Lord will Bless you, keep you and cause his face to shine upon you and give you peace AMEN.

Great video on pride, a most deceitful sin. I used to be very prideful and still fight pride on occasion. Although I can say as an MD/PhD candidate that the more I learn the more humble I become. How God wonderfully and fearfully knitted us together in our mother’s wombs, and how God formed us from the dirt of the earth into the most complex creation is an absolute fascination for me. Let us reflect on the fingerprints of God in our own dna, proteins, and molecular machinery to realize just how amazing the Lord is and that we need to humble ourselves. To elevate more of Jesus and less of ourselves. To serve those around us in whatever capacity we can as a blessing to them and to our Lord. Great video as usual!!
This is spectacular advice. Thank you for creating this sermon on humility. If everyone on Earth would follow this simple advice I think peace would break out.
I just prayed to God that i want to be humble. While praying i questioned if it was even possible when im naturally not humble at all. And this video came in recommendation. God is allowing a chance. I want to be as good as him. Not possible but i want to try.
I'm having one of my biggest tribulations with my beloved family that I have ever proched, and I was looking for guidance, and I now have an approach. Thank you for this video. Even if I wasn't religious, I'd find wisdom in the lessons of the Bible. I don't believe that the Bible is an accurate depiction of what Jesus said, and did, but regardless of your beliefs, it is a resource that can teach you humanities.

Great video. I especially love that last point. Life's too short to dwell on thoughts about how great we are. :') I struggle to tell the difference between pride and confidence and can't seem to work it out in my head...
I think it lies in the source. When one is proud the source of our self esteem is in us. We are good (enough). We don't NEED God. Whereas when one is confident, we trust, literally confide in - hopefully - God. If we are confident in ourselves it is also no good. We need to confide in God. If He is the source of our self worth and we truly believe that, it's fine. If we don't actually believe that and we try to earn it - it's not.

I am really amazed by the fact that I had casually commented/requested to make a video on "How to be humble" several months back on your video on "How to study the Bible and Pray-Whiteboard series" and you actually made a video! I really appreciate the very fact that you actually responded to my comment haha let alone actually make a video based on my request ( going by my understanding that you would be having a busy life in running your ministry!). I will always keep your family and ministry in my prayers 100% and I pray that through the spiritual success that the LORD our God pours on your ministry, His name will always be reflected, recognized and most importantly glorified! This is something my partner told me I need to humble myself one of the things, he finds it hard for me. Which was a hard pill to swallow. But I know I need to learn this for me. I need to grow in humility.

I've struggled with thinking that I'm better than most of the CP kids at my school. I've been gifted with book smarts, and I just let that get to my head through comparisons between how I and my CP peers act. It's mainly bad in my Chemistry class, as that's my only CP class whose students can get quite wild. I thought I was fighting it through not accepting my little sibling's compliments, but one of the pastors at my church told me that I was wrong in doing so. This video helped me realize my sin, thank you.
This video was so Epic! Thank you so much for making it! I was taught so much! I had a request too, could you make a video answering the question "Can Christians swear?" I stopped swearing/cursing a few years ago because I believed that since I am a Christian I shouldn't swear. One of my friends started to swear recently and I wanted to tell him to stop swearing because he's a Christian, but then I didn't know how to explain why he shouldn't swear anymore. Because I didn't know a good reason why Christians shouldn't swear, I know some verses in Colassians say to not use bad words but then I was confused as to what determines a word as "bad" or not, so I'm very confused and I don't know what to tell him. I love not swearing and it has changed my life in a great way but it might not be for everyone. So could you please make a video answering that question? It would be so awesome and I would really appreciate it a lot! Either way your channel has really helped me get closer to God! Thank you!!!!
