Being photogenic means that even if you stand in direct light, hold the camera wrong, and strike a bad pose, you'll still look good on camera. There are people who no matter how poorly a picture of them is made, they will always look good. Trying too hard to get a good picture is not being photogenic; it's just knowing how to take a picture.
Exactly ,I've seen so many people say it's a skill which,yes you can learn to take better pictures but it doesn't mean you're Photogenic like I'm really stiff so I don't really take photos because it never looks good and whenever someone takes a photo without me knowing it looks bad.idk how I'm supposed to learn how to be photogenic😭
2 things I don't have or can't do-... Guess even knowing this tricks I ain't gonna look good in a pic.. Unless someone took a pic of me with a dslr, that's the only hope..
Some people like to pretend like reaching step 2 is easy without step 1. Sure you can be average looking and confident but it’s a hell of a lot harder to reach that point if you never/barely ever get called attractive. Especially by the opposite sex.
The step one is to be attractive and I am already losing the battle there. What I really want is not to be photogenic but to have the confidence to not care whether I am or not.
late but its ez tbh, just train side delts with lateral raises in the gym, do bench press to make your chest look bigger, and train your biceps and you'll look great. Don't skimp on back or legs either it'll leave you looking empty if you only train arms shoulders and chest. im more biased for women because I have a type but the most optimal muscles for women to look good are glutes, hamstrings, and calves, so squats, calf raises, leg press, and hip thrust are all good for those. some guys don't like muscular ladies but for me I like it when her arms and back are mad strong, and apparently it's just me because I always see guys hating on the ladies with guns and saying that she looks too masculine (they are just jealous tbh)

It’s not about just selfies. Many people have their pics taken at parties and holidays or other events and it’s rough when you take a group pic and look like a thumb compared to everyone else in the pic.
This always cracks me up. People roll out of bed covered in Cheetos, run their fingers thru their hair and leave the house, then complain how everyone else is pretty.

Being photogenic has nothing to do with being attractive or confident….literally the most hideous homeless person whose insanely introverted could be photogenic. I will agree that having a nice camera/editing skills from the cameraman literally transforms people. I’ve seen social media accounts of photographers who only take photos of “ugly” people and the pictures are all incredibly beautiful.
But is that really photogenic? I thought photogenic people - you could literally take a picture of them while they’re running or when they don’t know, and the person in the photo always look good.
you do realise in pictures like that people who take the photo are professional photographers right? like not it’s actually random, it just looks so. plus if you think of models most of them have to look presentable outside because they are likely walking to a casting. its not really being photogenic as there are other factors involved
These are all great tips for selfies but everything changes when you're not the one taking the picture, theres other people in the picture with you, in an unfamiliar environment

My wedding photographer was about a foot shorter than me. We did engagement photos as a test run and she was taking almost every shot kneeling down, looking up at us. I looked like Peter Griffin in every single one. I cried. Triple chins, back boobs spilling out, and the worst possible profiles of my face. She insisted on doing a reshoot, so bless her. She wouldn't let me pay for the retakes either ( I know editing is time consuming). I think she secretly agreed that the pics were unflattering but she never said so. But I literally had to tell her that when photographing bigger people, you need a higher angle because our features just don't look good from the ground staring up. We got a folding step ladder to use for the retake and wedding, and let her keep it. I've lost a lot of weight since then, and no longer have an internal meltdown when caught in the background of someone else's pic , or being photographed sitting down, etc. But a lot of people who haven't lived it just don't know.

My face is asymmetrical and I get anxious when someone takes a picture with me to post or something! I absolutely hate my photos and would argue that I look a little better in person

Me too I dont have any confident to take selfies too try to use filter i use filter when i take selfies and it makes me feel comfortable to show my face dont mind the hater here on top of me
@@Sheseasyouthere I would if I could, thinking you are ugly makes you less attractive, confidence plays a huge role. And then there are also many things you can do for yourself to change your looks, more so for girls than what boys can do. But keeping your skin healthy, mewing, regular exercise to keep you slim and create more definition in your face are a few examples anyone can do (being underweight also makes you less attractive, staying at a healthy BMI is the best for everything). Girls got makeup too, an incredibly powerful tool. But it is all a game, it really is nothing you should let affect you negatively, simply play your cards right and rock with what you got. If you act confident, eventually to will become it, you become your thoughts. Thinking you're ugly will only make it worse, in this game of looks, an optimistic mindset is key
The earlier pics seemed of her teen years while she liked the more adult age pictures. Body, maturity all makes the difference. She simply shamed the young child like innocent pictures of teens
I can't tell you how grateful I am to have grown up in a time where I wouldn't know how my selfies with friends would look until like a week after I took them, no one would see it if I didn't want them to, and only a couple of people could look at them at once.
Yeah, I really worry about this generation. Really young girls wearing tons of meticulous makeup, that took hundreds of ours to learn to do, and filters trying to do "Oo, aren't I smouldering hot" poses and then those pictures are pretty much all their output into the world. And then they look other people's similar stream of pictures and feel sh*tty and inadequate. And all your messups and embarrassing stuff gets published online and stays there so that no one will never forget about them. Jesus if there was evidence of all the stupid sh*t I did when I was like 16 or 17 or even 20+ somewhere online, and people would randomly now question the opinions I had that I've since made 90-180° turns on.

It's about facial symmetry. The shape of you face, bone structure, how angular your face is, will control how it captures light. That's also why lighting is so important

its really all about confidence and being natural. My pics were all stiff and terrible for 30 years to the point where I hated taking photos of myself. After a terrible year in my life, I stopped caring about what people thought of me and did whatever made ME happy. The result, 80% of my pics today look natural and amazing. Its really jarring how different you can look once you gain self confidence and let your true happiness shine through
The ridiculousness is off the charts here. Simply put, this girl is gorgeous - and this is how and why she’s so “photogenic”. And it’s not the makeup, lighting, or pose - but the symmetry of her face that makes the most important difference.
I've been saying that about fashion for a while. Celebs wear these wild outfits and they don't look good because of the outfit, they look good because they are hot af.
@@superbob24same with clothes, makeup, and hair. It can make a big difference. Being able to see what someone looks like regardless takes a very trained eye. And many people will still be in the earlier stages of “training.”
Nope, she's just beautiful and blessed genetically. Even when she showed us her "failed" photos. It's still like 5 times better than my best photo. Pretty sure she looks great too without make up.

If u are practicing infront of a mirror remember to do it without one too ur gonna be able to strike a pose in the mirror so u know what u look like but its hard to replicate it when ur actually getting a picture taken and dont know how wide ur smile is and whatnot i hope yall get what im tryna say
Also don't forget about makeup guys. If you feel like you look ugly as compared to her or other ppl on social media, it's mostly cuz of all the makeup and filters. Trust me, makeup makes a HUGE difference, which is why I'm learning it too
Girl I have this photogenic friend… like irl she’s mid, kinda pretty, but in PHOTOS… MAN whatever angle u use she looks amazing, she could be making the most basic face and you can take a photo from the dumbest angle and she’ll look amazing
It really does. People think it’s about how pretty someone is, which can help but Some very attractive people can be difficult to photograph or direct. Some less attractive people can be great with the camera. Imo it’s definitely more about how the person interacts with the camera.
At the end of the day, just love yourself for who you are, don’t worry about what others think. Make a silly face, use a filter, smile big, show teeth. It doesn’t matter as long as you’re having a good time.

Confidence is important as well but what she stated is rather more important if you take more photos you'll start to notice the angles which suits you the best, and lighting as well as dull lighting makes you look dull

im naturally photogenic but only when i dont try for photos or am not aware my friend is taking a picture of me. if i am aware and told to pose i look really awkward
I just take a normal selfie then mirror it so it looks regular since photos mirror your face. I do this because when mirrored, my face looks terrible, but when normal, it looks decent.
