Great advice, great video. Any advice on first time sellers & handling payments safely? I'm worried about getting burned on my life-long treasures.

Thanks for all the great info! Any tips on inventory management? Is there one app or platform that can be used across multiple sites. Or do you have to list an item on every platform, and manually remove everywhere when it sells?

Thank you! This is very helpful for someone who is one year into building an online business with about 400 positive reviews. I’ve been very/relatively successful and want to keep going and growing and your video is extremely insightful. Btw I went to the University of Washington from 93-97 and grew up in Seattle and Portland. From Elliot Smith to Nirvana, I was fortunate to be around all of that, so I’ve always enjoyed your videos and your appreciation for the era.

Wish people could click their fingers and order their favorite albums and grails, sadly that just isn't the reality with this market. I think that's what makes it so fun and beneficial towards the end of the hunt

I have a related question. Thank you for your video. Great advice. I have thought of selling some of my personal collection but decided I just don’t want to deal with it. I certainly appreciate the hustle that record selling requires. My question is: in general how much do you generally give someone who is selling or trading in records at your store? I realize this depends on the artist, title, pressing, condition. If you resell a record for $15 for example, do you pay a seller 25%, 30% or 50% if your selling price? I’m trying to get an idea of what is fair when I trade records in at my local stores. Thanks!

Great question. I address this in the video below. In short, it all depends on the specific albums, condition, and VOLUME. Selling 10 albums versus 3,000 albums - two totally different things in regards to how a store would make an offer. Excellent point on getting customers.. its repeat sales. Quick buck 1 time sale is what many focus on... bht when you have established customers... it makes a difference. Cant remember the place but it is one of my go to places... the customer was questioning himself if this was a good place or not by his look on his face... i reassured him it was the right place. It got them a sale and thats because i was a happy customer.

I have listen to several of your video's. My question is your idea of selling in multiple venues is a bit of a challenge mainly because my collection is of mainly one album of each. The risk of having an album on eBay and FB market place, and then other sites creates a potentially customer nightmare. What is your take on this? (FYI I have been selling on eBay for 24 years 3k+ feedback 100% but not a high volume seller)

I was thinking about this as well - having multiple listings for a single album. The safest is to rotate which listing is active - you can end listings on eBay and relist them later (same with Marketplace). Listing the one record on multiple sites simultaneously is perilous unless you’re watching the listings constantly and can pull the other listings immediately after a sale.

@@homerjones3291 I'm wondering if there's something like Square where you can manage inventory in one place across multiple sites.

My great aunt passed away. I have over 2,000 albums collected over her lifetime. Stuff most people today don’t listen to. I can’t bring myself to throw them away so they sit in boxes in the garage…

Wow dude you said something so true it’s not even funny. Was about how if you’re starting out you have to over deliver in every way to establish trust. Sounds simple but dang. Those first 10-50-100 sales, like you have to be willing to take a little less, so that you can gain in customer happiness

I know what I can do to stick out, buy cheap action figures of like Jimi Hendrix and the Beatles to put free as a surprise in the box when the customer opens their Jimi Hendrix or Beatles record they bought from me. You know you’d set that figure on your shelf and remember that seller forever.

I haved worked in record stores and have been a collector since the late 70's. I've seen it all but was very surprised that a RU-vid channel, "Spin me round" Records could not properly pack 2 sealed vinyl lp's. They neglected to use protection to the corners. They should have been sandwiched between 2 pieces of cardboard instead of one piece of bubble wrap. I called the store and the owner that makes herself so phony, turned into a true monster when I spoke with her. In short, packing your products is the key to success. ✌🏼

Selling/buying records online is a risk. If you're thinking of selling records online, know that the seller takes 100% risk. Not only is the seller at risk for mishandling by postal workers. Somebody snatching a record off somebody's porch, the buyer does a never received claim, and it comes out seller's pocket.

Great video. What would you say is a good target sales rate for someone starting out part time, and do you have any tips for saving time and money on packaging and shipping?
@NTXVinyl
@NTXVinyl 7 месяцев назад
No real short cuts on shipping cost/time. Proper packaging costs what it costs, and you can't really cut corners doing it right. Target sales rate? All depends on your situation/goals.

Hmmmm. Would depend on the web platform you’re using - but that’s typically pretty manual regardless
