How To Beat GHOSTFACE In "Scream"

I would like to point out that Randy is like the only sane person in the entire movie. He understands the tropes, and uses them. If it wasn’t for his crush for Sidney, he would probably have easily survived.

Billy and Stu used good tactics as killers to target individual victims. One stays outside the house to secure the perimeter and watch for cops, while the other sneaks inside before initiating the phone calls. It is clear that Billy wanted to be caught early on so that he would be cleared of suspicion by the police. Having 2 killers working in tandem was a genius move by the late Wes Craven

Fun fact, you can tell if Ghostface is Billy or Stu in any given scene by the way they weild the knife. Stu raises the knife over his head with both hands and is generally clumsier, while Billy wields it one handed and likes to strangle his victims.

Casey’s death is the most cruel in my opinion, so close to her parents yet unable to call out to them

Interesting fact: the horror/slasher genre was actually dying when the writer wrote Scream. In fact one person in 100 Scariest Movie Moments said she thought once Scream was release the genre was dead. But the awareness of the characters and the rules of surviving horror that everyone feared will kill the genre for good actually what ended up reviving the genre. So in a way, Scream saved horror.

How to survive Scream. 1. Don't answer the phone. 2. Carry a gun 3. Have a friend like Randy 4. Fight for your LIFE!

Cool little detail: Stu and Billy not only wear the same boots, but they never change them while dressing up as Ghostface. This is best compared in the scene of everyone in the school courtyard and then the good shot of Ghostface's boots in the bathroom.

One of my friends described ghost face as “a lovably awkward killer who doesn’t know how to kill”, and I think that’s very accurate. Like, he isn’t actually good at killing people at all, he just has a knife and a will to kill

Too be fair, the Friday the 13th movie question was a trick question. When most fans hear Friday the 13th they naturally think of Jason Vorhees as he was the main villain for most of the franchise. Only exception was of course the first movie where it was his mother, and the fifth movie which was a paramedic.

This movie came out in 1996, very few phones had a speaker. And the ones that did were wireless. Sydney was on a landline with a cord. She could have never put it on speaker.

This seems like a decent horror movie. The seriel killer is not the generic super human, immune to everything under the sun, but is affected by stuff like getting a door shoved into his face.

The scene where Casey was trying to get her parents attention I was thinking why doesn’t she just throw the damn phone she’s holding onto at them. 😂

There is something interesting about being in a horror film situation The issue for you is you wouldn’t know what the threat is or how to handle it. But that is why you should watch these videos. Knowing similar situations allows you to prepare or how to react, prepare, and survive.

One (small) correction: Billy and Stu want their fingerprints on the knife at the end. Their whole plan was to frame Neil Prescott (whose fingerprints were also on the knife, as well as a bevy of evidence throughout the film) and they wanted to be the heroes. Their plan was to kill Sidney and everyone else, including Neil, but be the ultimate “survivors”. They needed their prints on the knife to be believable. It also is why Billy turns against Stu. He wants to be the solo survivor (as well as mitigate risk as to being caught).

Here is my question; who the hell leaves all the doors in their house unlocked at any point of the day, much less at night???

I loved when he said, “Ok you can shoot me now”, has to be one of the funniest quotes I’ve heard him say in a long time. Also I’ve seen Dead Meat cover this movie along with the others and I’m like I need to start watching them again since they are iconic in their own special ways

Never heard this much praise in a How To Beat video!! It seems like the Scream characters did a pretty decent job 😅

The big plot hole is that she sees Randy about to get stabbed on the hidden camera. When Randy and Stu show up at the house, she still thinks there is only one murderer, meaning it must be Stu and that she should have let Randy in.

It’s crazy how quick the cops in my town respond to things. There’s too many for such a small city, at least one will get there within 30 seconds to 1 minute usually it’s pretty wild

When Tatum went to the garage alone there's also a rule on that when ghostface is around never go to the garage or anywhere alone if your the killers target or the targets friend because ghostface might wanna kill you since your close to his target

How to survive Scream? Answer: Avoid any relationship or friendship involving Sidney, Sam, Tara, Chad, Mindy, Gale. Also past killers or accused killer like Stu’s nephew in Scream 5 and Cotton’s gf in Scream 3.

I always wonder @20:00 how ghost face knew to come the other way. How would he have known there was another way to go?? It just dawned on me that it was Stu's house to begin with. He was the one that threw the party. That gave it away right there. He would be the only one that knew his house had a two way entrance.

If you notice before Stu puts the gun on the counter, he wipes it down, though Billy does pick it up again so I guess his fingerprints would be on it.

I notice that you didn't mention that the corn syrup trick would have failed because it would SMELL like corn syrup. That stuff has a strong smell as does blood and they are NOTHING like one another. Smell is one of those senses that are ignored in movies because the audience can't smell anything, but believe me, it'd be a dead giveaway in real life.

The motive for the dad is actually there, after hearing about the fact that the mother“slept around” there’s no way her father wouldn’t be mad, and it’s very suspicious that this happens while he’s “away”. I’m making this prediction half way through the video so I don’t know if I’m correct yet.

Oh this will be interesting. How to Beat giving advice on how to beat a movie that is about characters both protagonist and antagonist following the rules of horror. Spoil Alert, the real trick to surviving the Scream Franchise is to know the rules and work them to your advantage. That's what kept Sidney alive through five of the six movies she been in. And kept Sam alive in the sixth movie. And of course as pointed out through the Scream Franchise it helps to know what type of horror movie rules apply to the situation: rules of horror (Scream), rules of a sequel of the horror (Scream 2), rules of a horror trilogy (Scream 3), Rules of a horror remake (Scream 4), rules of a horror requel aka legacy (Scream 5), and Rules of a horror franchise (Scream 6).

Simple - I would have left town. I agree with Randy on "Everyone's a suspect!" So, the easiest way to survive is to change your environment and get away from all those people you suspect of being a Ghost-face. If Ghost-face really wants to kill me, he'll have to follow me out knowing I have a shovel in the back of my car at all times. The shovel is there to moving snapping turtles off the road (because they try to bite off your fingers otherwise), but it can be used a Ghost-face killing tool with a lot more range than a hunting knife.

20:50 the umbrella was so effective, that actor Skeet Ulrich was genuinely hurt when the stunt actor in the Ghostface mask missed his safety vest and actually stabbed him

The police don't come during actual DVs, not sure they would come to a hysterical teen over not seeing anything and 2-3 phone calls. Police didn't even show up that fast in subsequent sequels

Sidney should've known it was Stu, and not Randy, because she saw Randy being stalked by GhostFace and almost killed on the TV in the van.

A suspicious call from a police cruiser should have gotten the police there in record time if for no other reason than it wasn't an officer making the call... yet it took the police seemingly hours (given it's dawn when Gale begins her story and the ambulances arrive and whatnot) before they arrive after Sidney calls them over the radio, not to mention Dewey's radio silence after checking on an abandoned car during a murder investigation
