There’s a seemingly throw away line in cabin in the woods that probably refers to this movie. In cabin the people running the sacrifice are discussing when they failed back in ‘98 and how it was the chemical departments fault. In this movie all 5 sacrifices that fit the correct archetypes all survive because of a chemical weapon used effectively against the monster, and it came out in 1998.

The infected teachers were doing some dumb taunting but amazing strategy in there way to infect students like a ear exam? Amazing

A dumb thing I’d probably do as I have to many plastic bottles is leave them throughout the school full of salt water since it’s near impossible to tell the difference and the aliens would probably just be excited to chug some water

Other point: She said she was allergic to the "scat" (terrible name lol), but supposedly took it and didn't get an allergic reaction. Utilizing some simple logic, she was either lying about being allergic, or didn't actually take the drug.

It’s a bit weird that the chlorine pool had no effect on the queen. While yes it is full of water, any swimmer can tell you that chlorine is incredibly drying to the body. Tho I don’t know if drying and dehydrating are the same thing.

This is definitely up there with my favourite Nerd explains videos. This has the same feel as crazies and crawl, even brought back the old background music. Good stuff Nerd.

Out of any 'how to beat" channels, this one wins hands down. Is it the narrator? The extra layer of smarts/ thorough thinking? Both, or maybe more? Either way, best channel in this area. Would love "why you wouldn't survive" videos too! Those were fun.

Depending on where they are (let me use Colorado as an example) high altitude environments cause dehydration. If they chase you head up to higher ground the higher the altitude the more they'll get dehydrated. Masks and earplugs could also help with keeping them out of our bodies.

I've watched this movie plenty times over the years but never analyzed it. Seeing this now makes me realize that it makes sense why the school didn't just attack them right away despite all being normal. The damn queen was with them lol I'm assuming they know she is the queen and was like "oh well she hasn't changed them so maybe she's going to now or she's chosen them for something". The lab teacher only gets hostile when Zeke tries to leave probably indicating he knows the queens there and he expected assistance to turn them. We also see the queen is no joke, she's a huge alien able to transform to look like other beings so maybe she could even look like an animal if she wanted to but she infiltrated a school so her chosen target population made the most sense.

I find it very entertaining that he's explaining common sense and actually educating us while making the most hilarious jokes ever

Imagine going trough all of the trouble to destroy an evil wizard's empire from hell and then ending up in an alien invasion later. Damn I sure wouldn't want to be Frodo.

This is one of my fav movies. It has some really clever moments, and I feel its one of the better creature flicks to come out of the 90s.

This is a special video to me. I remember this movve from way back when I was a little lad. It was the first movie I ever saw that involved possessive parasites and every few years I'd think about it. I never knew the name but always remembered they loved water and that one test the queen cheated. About the keys... If you using them in the right way they are very very scary in close combat. because the full force of the hit is concetrated in that very little spot, also you dont want all of you keys betwen your fingers you just want one of them (prefereble the longest) so you can achive the best hit which is not only precise but hurt like hell, and you also can hold the rest of your keys. Honestly, this movie wouldn't work nowadays. With cell phones, it would be all over the internet. Weird ear exams. The body? Photographed and Instagram storied. Teachers infecting another? Instagram. As to the parents though, my dad, while he probably wouldn't believe me about alien brain slugs, would definitely know somethings wrong and tell me to get home if I told him "alien brain slugs are taking over the teachers and students are being forced to do ear exams".

I rented this on VHS twice when it was first released and watched it maybe six times across a couple of weekends.

LOTR is my fav movie series so I did a little "yay!" at every reference. COme to think of it I'd love to see Nerd Explains do LOTR, however, that would be like a 3-6 part series, so maybe not lmao
