This 100%. And to echo a similar sentiment - INTJs are the ultimate non-extrovert, meaning, we don't have a primal need to be around others for survival. People have always congregated in groups for the sake of being protected / accepted by society but the INTJ really is that person that can live alone, do their own thing on their own terms, and thrive.

@@sosinati3358 I believe 'defeat' is being used loosely to indicate removing the problematic aspects of the rival in question. Making a rival less capable to perform well when that performance is at direct odds with your own could be viewed as a victory. It's not likely meant for that state of emotional distress in and of itself. That serves absolutely no purpose.
@RutabegaNG

Defeat or really annoy? I think the latter is more accurate. But it was pretty damn accurate. ETA: the clarification on what is intended by "defeat" makes sense. So in that respect then defeat is perhaps accurate. For life in general though, annoy.

As an NT type myself, the INTP, winning an argument is never my prime directive, but mainly to accrue more knowledge and satisfy my intellectual curiosity. I am like a vampire for knowledge. Now what often frustrates me as an INTP is when individuals strawnman my opinions and arguments without providing with me any logical arguments, or showing any kind of independent and critical thinking to illustrate their point.

Because there's not a single thing of value to glean from a walking effigy to the backfire effect, pretending that violently protecting their narrow worldview has even a lick of "logic" to it, and there's no way to make them shut up either. Once, I won a discussion with an ENTP. It happened so fast that I could hardly believe it myself, about as described above. I wanted to pin him down to one point of view, because even at the beginning of the discussion he came up with not one, but two topics that contradicted each other. I didn't know how to take the counterpart when he contradicted himself, so I dissected his statement and showed it to him. The discussion was over before it really started. - Which I thought was a pity, because the topic was important and worth thinking about.😔 - INTP

The worst is they can be so childish when they start beating around the bush like kids to distract you from their error to avoid confronting it in your presence. They can struggle so much with admitting they were wrong. I mean I can understand cause when you're proven wrong it's harsh for the ego and if people weren't so vicious about mocking people and feeling so superior just because they're right, people would more openly admit when they're wrong 100%. You know, a bit of Fe-ness. Of course we're not talking about every ENTP with this but it's common for immature ones. In all honesty, it's almost pathetic when they refuse to admit their error because this shows a clear sign of a lack of maturity and wisdom. And wise talking can certainly be more valuable than just being factually correct in certain contexts.

The INTP in me agrees. I spend my life in doubt, and you can make me even wobblier by rushing me or forcing me to walk on eggshells. But if I’m certain about something, if it’s something I actually pondered and researched in depth (all relative), I won’t budge-even if I’m not articulate enough to lay it all out for you to grasp how wrong you are.

The biggest enemy to an INTJ is that friendly snake in the grass that just wants to use you for your talents then throws you under a bus. I realized that pattern too. Although it took some time to get used to this. My Fi has been strong and wanted some genuine connections. I had to learn to control this desire. I finally succeeded and now apathy helps a ton. I don't care if speaking the truth out hurts someone, or even if I'm being a hypocrite(which was the most difficult by far, since one of my core principles included not being hypocrite. But other people can very well do it so I had to resort to it to protect my interests. I do it to just protect myself though, and I wouldn't want to hurt someone for no reason at all. They do however have chess player mindsets. The better way to see this is if you could turn off their "observation" brain which fuels their interest, otherwise they move on apathetically. 3.) I think this is the only one that beats an INTJ. As it is, INTJ has Ni in their top function, they value the perception of winning before winning. I haven't seen or met an INTJ that hasn't tried to read the future before it occurred. (accepting, and being present also reverses this).

HOWEVER, I would be fascinated to see a comparable video on how to beat NF types, because I'm an INFP. It would be interesting precisely because I DO at least know what type I am, and if you exposed some of the methods for "beating" an INFP it could alert me to such methods getting utilized (whether wittingly or unwittingly) against me. I could say, "Ah, ha, this person is doing that thing to me that the video talked about; well, I know how not to fall for that, then...." Do you plan to do a video on "How to BEAT" every kind of type, or is there a special reason you are doing this only for NT types, i.e., because they are the uniquely "formidable people to be up against"?

LOL. Re: INTJs Your attempts to be chaotic will likely be predictable. I mean, if you want to try to be chaos, go for it. I'm not going to try to stop you. But most people can't manage it. They end up doing things like "I'm going to rebel just like all of my friends" or "I'm going to do the exact opposite of what you say." or even just "I'm just to show up and ruin this thing for you just to piss you off." And the problem with all of those approaches is that they're actually predictable. Especially the better we know you. Even the Joker is not chaotic enough to thwart Batman, and he's a guy who dresses in a clown suit, and you never know if he's going to kill some random person he's interacting with. But that's not chaotic enough to foil an INTJ in their groove. Force INTJs to play politics. You are absolutely right that we will hate it. You have, however, discounted the strategy of just not playing. We have tight personal bonds with a few people. Some of those people have far better social skills than we do. So odds are that we'll just deputize them to deal with most of the crap while we go hang out in a lounge chair under the overhang of a garage while it's raining. Also we may pick up a few new friends along the way. Needing to finish tings is really probably the worst one. There's only so many projects we can keep an eye on. Too many open projects/plan steps will likely upset us. And even experienced INTJs may not be willing to admit to the overload when it happens. This is really your best route. Meanwhile, let me point out a few things: 1a) We're okay with trashing our own reputations to get projects completed. 1b)) You know how actors say it's freeing to get to play the villain? Paint us too much as the villain, and we're not above stepping into the lime light with an evil cackle and villaining it up. This means we're probably going to blow up a lot of relationships in the process, but some things are worth it. And it is soooo much fun to give an evil cackle and herd all my scattered chess pieces back the direction I wanted them to go this entire time. 2) All of these are frontal assaults. As a strategist, I might just cede ground to you, letting your think you were winning , all the time cutting your supply lines until everyone is confronted with the fact that your promises and warnings against me were empty bluster. The basic Russia v. Napoleon strategy. Also known as giving you all the rope you need to hang yourself. Because I live in my head. I can keep retreating forever. The same can't be said about you pursuing. 3) During all of this, it's worth considering that all INTJs come with a built in BS detector. And you attacking us would be a huge, massive pile of BS. And our favorite thing to do with BS is t o bring that sh*t to light. If we can see you, we can put a spotlight on you. And may very well do so.

I grew up in an extremely challenging household, with a very unhealthy INFP mother, so being shut down and forced to pick a side is something I’ve always had to learn to deal with. I FIND my way to have my say. I’ll use Fe to organise the room to a point where there can be that direct confrontation where I’m in my comfort zone. @@alaric12 I don't know a lot about Enneagram, so I'll have to trust the tests that I've taken so far, and I don't recall ever getting a 4 (but well, tests have limitations, so who knows). And even MBTI-wise, it's very difficult for me to tell if I'm using Fi or Ti. Ultimately the main reason INFP describes me a little better is having Te as the polar function. Aside from that, I find myself using a lot of Ti-like language and judge a lot of the evidence I collect based on whether it makes sense to me. I simply don't act as much according to that as I would like to. Also, if I were a 4, why would I think I was a 5w6 (not even 5w4)? Wouldn't I be proud of being a 4? Idk, sounds like an unlikely mistype. And reading the descriptions again, honestly 4 seems to cover precisely a certain stereotypical side of INFP that I don't relate much to. But again, who knows?
@alaric12
@alaric12 10 месяцев назад
@@emptyhappysong If you're 5w6 then you're more likely to be Ti dom than Fi dom, if you're 4w5, then Fi dom, eneagram and MBTI correlate. Look at the instinctual subtype (sp, sx, so), it could maybe bring you answers, about the core needs and fears. The reason why I suggested you may be a 4 is precisely because it is a common pattern I have noticed where INFJ and INFP, displaying clear eneagram 4 characteristics will present themselves as "5w4", as they are "deep thinkers" and "intellectual" liking "deep" conversations and having "deep" emotions, as they want to be seen as unique individuals and beings. Ironically, while the eneagram 4 is supposed to be the most common among these two types, you'll find plenty of individuals describing their personal experience about being 5 something. Does it answers your question emptyhappysong ?

How to beat an ENTJ --easy for you to say! 1) Let them beat themselves with their workaholism. Srsly? I'm 65, and I'm still working 60 hours a week. Mobilizing people to solve problems in creative ways that eliminate inefficiencies feels incredible. 2) Turn their people against them. That might work with unevolved ENTJs, but if you're not an a$$hole, you have been helping the people you lead find and develop their strengths. You've been giving them greater responsibilities. Asking them how we can improve on the areas they focus on. Try to turn my people! 3) I can be impulsive, but I am not reckless, and no amount of psychological games you try to play with me will change that. I consider it impulsive to go with my gut when logic indicates a different path. But I have never lost when betting on strong hunches. My brain is aware of evidence that it cannot bring to the surface. Respect the strong hunch.
