Here's a step by step, how to guide on how to apply to become a British Citizen. Recently, I successfully completed my application to become a British Citizen. If you're thinking about going through the same process, this video will give you an insight and guide you through the process step by step, giving you tips on how to complete the application best. I couldn't find any resources such as this when I was going through the citizenship process myself so I thought I would share my personal experience to make things more simple for others who are about to go through the same journey.

A jelentkezési papírokon csak a személyes adataikat adathod meg és ezen kívül ezeknek az embereknek még alá kell írniuk egy nyilatkozatot ez az a “character reference/referee declaration” ahol kell rólad egy passport fotó. Ezt a jelentkezés utáni portálon tudod be scan-nelni. A jelentkezéshez sajnos nem tudsz semmit csatolni csak kitölteni. Remélem ez segít.

Hi good evening thanks for video .its great help and real appreciated. A quick question about date you submitted online application till you got appointments for documents checked ? Because I submitted my application online 16 August and government website automatically show date 18 of October. But ukvcas don't have any date till 28 September. After sending the application, Ukvcas don't give you appointments date before 45 day. Can I upload the right now or wait for appointments first .please help me about these confusing questions. If i get the UK passport being in the Cayman Islands, can I later move to the UK to live and work?. Passport says British Citizen that overseas phrase is not there.

Heya, I had L2 english and they said it didn’t count, so it’s only the B1 or a degree done in English. A late reply but this may help someone else:)

Hi, useful video, thanks. I have a question for you. Can you start the application before the date you'll get on your 1 year and, upload all the documents and then submit it just on the right date? Like, I start the application one month before, go through all the steps, then submit it on the right date. Asking because this way there would be plenty of time to gather all the documents and informations before actually submitting the request.

So I went through all the steps within a year. Did all my tests. I made myself a folder with all the documents needed, I would advise keeping a hard copy in case the digital one disappears and then scan everything into a digital folder. Start the online application and then you can upload all the documents in one go. Yes you can start the online application and add along but you can only upload documents and evidence at the end when you have paid and submitted your application. So I would advise making a folder before starting. Hence why I made the video to help others get all the information ready as I had to stop and start with mine for a couple days as I was missing certain information. I hope this helps.

Hi. Its very informative and helpful. However it was an application for UK "naturalisation" but you kept saying "neutralisation ". It does make huge difference. But I believe you said it without realising..

Hi, I am currently applying for British nationality, however, as an EU citizen I have never had any passport stamps etc. and do not genuinely knkw how to go on about tracking my absences. In any case, if I do rough estimations and still hve official documents proving I had residency in the UK in that period, will that be enough? How can it be actually proven that I was in the country or not?

Thanks for the video. But just so you may know, a first British Passport costs only £85 not £400. I've been through the naturalization journey too.. it's such a relief to have it all out of the way. Congratulations!

Exploring with Niki Szia! Köszönöm szépen! Nekem egy olyan 6 héten belül jött meg a levél hogy elfogadták, ez október-november 2019 körül volt. De azt nem tudom hogy mitől függ hogy milyen gyorsan bírálják el. Online mindenhol fel van tüntetve hogy akár 6 hónapba is be telhet mire válaszolnak. Szóval ez egy nagyon kellemes meglepetés volt számomra hogy ilyen gyorsan készen lett! Remélem neked is hamarosan meg jön a kis barna boríték 🤞🏻

Hi Berill, Great video, thank you for taking the time to do this, it's been very helpful. I noticed at 26:09 you said the referees need to have known you for less than three years. Per my research, I believe should be "more than" or "at least" three years. You don’t need to take the English language test if you come from an English speaking country either... such as the US. At least that’s what I’ve heard, however I don’t really know because I have been a citizen all my life, as have my parents, and my grandparents (although one of them was born a dual national) and their parents, and all their ancestors (I think you get the point that I can’t ask anyone personally about the process)

Hello, Thank you for your video it was very helpful. I have intended to do my naturalisation for a very long while and like you mentioned I just didn't have the money etc. I also have been here for 15 years. My question is how much evidence do you need regarding your address as I moved quite alot during university and my only evidence is university and bank statements?

Last 5 years and you can prove with address you loved, employment, benefits, studies things like that, that go back atleast 5 years continues

Hi Berill. I watched your video l must say it realy good. I m now on indefinite leave remain. And lm going to apply l think end of this mount . Just confused about the referrals . So knees two people as a referral s and one UK citizen one none UK citizen ? Is that correct . And age over 25 . You must know them less than 2.5 years ? And. They can’t be family members .! And they have be a teacher doctor. Or nurse ?

Yeah the referral bit is tricky each person has to meet a certain criteria. I mean both can be citizens. Mine were but it states at least one must be and over 25. The other can be any nationality but has to have a professional standing. Can’t be family.

Hi I had a normal group ceremony. I didn’t want to add to the costs so I went with the group/public ceremony. I’m not sure what the council is doing now for ceremonies. I don’t see why they can’t continue but have less people in the room.

Hi i just passed the 2 exams, and found 2 ppl than know me for more than 3 years just have to complete the referee forms. And then what s next? Should i start to apply online or should i do biometrics (fingerprints) ? Im not sure about the steps in order to do. Ty

acmramon Hi! You have to complete the online application first before you can go and do the biometrics. Just to make you aware you have to have 2 people as referees that you have known for less than 3 years not more and within that each had to match a certain criteria that I have explained in the video. Hi Berill! Thanks so much for the video! I am having some trouble filling in the online application and I hope you could help! You mentioned in the video that you had a residence blue card but not a Biometric Residence Permit BRP and I am in the same situation. However, when the question comes up on the application, the system doesn´t give me the option to say NO. The options are: Yes; No because my BRP is lost or stolen; No because I already sent it to the Home Office or I don't have a BRP for my last recent leave. No one of these answers are applicable to me, as the only reason I don´t have one is that I don´t think I need it as I am from the EU. Can I ask you what option did you tick? I am really stuck here. Hi I don't know if you will see this but since you was here from the age of 9 who paid for your studies? Did your family or the UK government pay for your studies? Apart from university as that's what student loans are for.

I have lived in the UK since the age of 1 and attend University within the UK, and as long as you have Indefinite leave to remain and enter then the UK government offers your maintenance loan. Hopefully your question is answered now, bit late response after a year, but that's it.

Hi I didn’t get an approval email. My approval came in the post. This letter contained the information on booking the ceremony so I didn’t have an invitation as such.

twnty 5 hello! No I didn’t need anything like that. You would only need it I believe if you have been living here and had massive gaps in your employment so you wouldn’t have been paying towards your NI or tax or been registered with a GP. I was a student for most part but I also haven’t had gaps that I couldn’t back up with what I was doing. I hope this helps.

Hi Berill, thank you for the useful video. Did you attach the referees document to UKVCAS after applying for the citizenship? Does the referee need to provide 3 weeks of his/her previous addresses? Thanks.

Eros Zuccolotto Hello! Yes so there is a section to fill in referees info during the application and it asks if the person has lived at that address for at least 3 years. If not, there is an open box you can provide any previous addresses for the past 3 years. Once you complete the application you need to scan and attach your referee declaration to your list of evidences. I hope this helps!

@@kenkoh1724 no I didn’t. Not sure why you would need it. As long as you pay NI and registered with a GP and all that you shouldn’t need it.

Requirements for referees are that they must know you for 3 or more years, not less than 3 years :/

No it has to be a completed degree. So only the degree certification is sufficient. Otherwise you have to take the IELTS test or wait to complete your degree.

It’s misleading, I did the English at the same college and its 150£ guys not 250£! If she knew shes graduating why she did that... hmm! She seems like shes trying to be posh and some things she said are questionable.... but she seems to be a smart girl

Hi David, at the time I paid £250. Maybe it had change maybe I got ripped off but I can only advise on my personal experience. I did the test because I wanted to get my citizenship done before I graduate which is why I did the test. But life happened and things got delayed so I ended up completing the process after I graduated. But my parents also wanted to go through this process and as they don’t have degrees I thought at least I can help them by knowing what the test consists off. Plus I have a B1 English language certificate not that it matters but who knows what I’ll do in the future 🤷🏽‍♀️. I hope this clears things up. I’m not here to mislead. Prices change all the time. I can only talk about my experience and I’m aware that at some point the information will be outdated. But if it’s helpful in anyway to anyone I’m happy because I didn’t have this help or guidance going through it. I hope this helps answer some things.

I believe you are saying: can you become a citizen if you emigrated to the UK? The answer is yes, it is called naturalisation. The British government has certain requirements for you to become a citizen including having lived in the UK at least 5 years before you apply, be able to speak English ect. It is 100% possible and around 145,000 people apply each year.
