Reminds me of being a martial arts instructor. The difference from being a decent coach and being a great coach. Gotta keep learning evolving always a student.
The first and biggest thing is to teach gun safety. l went through the NRA class back in 78 with a couple guys in our Sportsman's club. We don't make money because we do it for the Sportsman club. We also do the Hunters Safety Course. It's just fun to get folks started. When kids pass the hunters course it's awesome. Big smiles. No it's hard to make money at this but the memories are priceless.
The only firearms instructor book I ever found is "Beyond the Muzzle: The Firearms Instructor & Shooter Development Guide". It helped me with resetting my mind about providing instruction. Not sure where I got it but a search should find it. The best help I've found.
Lol...teaching martial arts after I retired from active fighting, I just wanted to share free of charge. I loved seeing people learn. Kids adults. To see them progress was and is still cool. And good luck in your new livelihood!!
Lots of good advice- good job. I am a retired Army instructor. Of course as the Army sees it, if you’re an NCO, you’re automatically expected to teach or instruct classes. Just part of the leadership progression. Because I had a combat arms MOS - or job - I started instructing very early in my career once I became a Sergeant. However I was sent to ITC (Instructor Training Course) which was five full days learning how to give a presentation from an existing lesson plan. Later I went to SGITC to learn more about teaching a class focusing more on how to facilitate the learning in small groups, engaging the students so that they can learn better. Then I moved on to actually designing & developing the actual lesson plans, also known as a writer. So the actual presentation part of this would be fairly easy for me. What I am interested in is the official steps are to become a certified firearms instructor. Like what courses or classes do I need to take? Who or where does one go to to be officially certified?
I am trying to get my license so I can do CCW classes How can I get them Not trying to train people how to shoot just get there carry license. How do I go by doing that
