Oh you have a dual license that’s awesome! You have a much greater advantage than most. I commend you for taking care of your mom. ❤️However I really encourage you to get back in the industry even if you start part time so you can take care of her. Hey love I don’t have a van.. I worked with a friend who had one back in the day.. however I’ve done mobile massage before going to ppl homes… I prefer the on location thing … idk it’s more safe and comfortable for me… so I’m getting a new office

Random questions: 1) do you recommend buying and using a van or truck vs using your car to carry all materials? 2) what is the average price per session? how to price? let alone, give discounts for first time clients? 3) would you charge for travel for clients that live 20+ miles away and charge a cancellation fee? 3) always bring Waiver forms to clients prior to appointment? 4) can clients pay via CashApp, Apple Pay, and cash with a receipt book with you? 5) if I want to take clients to my house for a session, is it best to have a separate room or using the living room is ok (my living area is quite specious btw plus only the clients I knew well enough) 6) create a uniform for the business?

Hey Anthony! Thanks for the questions. Some of these will proably have to be answered in a future video to avoid sounding long winded and not being understood correctly. 1.) if you’re not using your van to actually massage people inside the van or truck for mobile services you can use your own car or truck to carry materials to massage clients in their home. Keep your costs low initially. 2.) price varies on city, state, competitors etc… I suggest looking at the average price of what people are charging around the area you plan to work and make sure your price is competitive but dont low ball yourself at the same time. I hope that make sense. Lol 3.) When it comes to travel, I would include travel fee in my quoted prices in some type of way… to me that worked best. From my experience Clients like to know what’s being paid upfront and they are most of the time willing to tip when things are stated clearly including pricing. In regards to cancellation fees, always have one. Maybe 50% of service charges. Card on file. I know styleseat already has this kind of thing set up for you. I wouldn’t travel to anyone over 20 miles away from my service area. But if needed yes definitely charge a deposit for sure! Make this clear on your website. The main thing to focus on is this business is making it easy and clear for clients when booking. 4.) yes you can use these options like cash app and Venmo for tips and stuff like that. You could always have a business account for those apps too. You have that option. I just try to keep all my business transactions together and on one booking site for when it’s time to file taxes. You want everything in one account if possible. But yeah those apps are great for tips and stuff. So I get why ppl like to use them. But keep everything organized, it’s Easier to write things off & yes keep all receipts. Car repairs .. err thanggg lol 5.) yes sure you could always take your familiar clients to your home. But yes it’s best to keep a separate area in your house for massages …. Trust me on that lol. 6.) uniforms is optional but if you could afford it when you first start. I would! I would have my logo everywhere for branding and so you look professional. I didn’t have a uniform when i first got started but I should have. I Hope this helped 🤞🏾💪🏽

Heyyyy there, welcome! And from my understanding and according to CAMTC.org “CAMTC certification allows massage professionals to provide services anywhere in the State of California for one price. There is no need to obtain multiple local permits.” So if you’re certified through CAMTC you’re all good 😊 hope that helps

@@thespablueprint that doesn't sound right... I am CAMTC also. It is in your best interest to apply for a business license with local counties or if some cities have restrictions even if you are mobile. Also this keeps you protected on the up and up as well. When you get a license you have to show proof of insurance and CPR certification plus this makes your business legit as a licensed operation in the eyes of your clients. Be smart and get licensed.

Hey! Depending on your state, yes. There are exceptions to a few states needing only a permit or nothing at all. However most states you need to be licensed

Random question. Have you ever worked for anyone else in your massage therapy career? A franchise? I am currently in school and would be interested in your take on different pay rates in this industry (flat hourly rate plus commission, minimum wage, etc)

Yes. I can go more in depth in a video but you got massage envy, elements, Burke Williams, hotel chains just to name a few and you could even work for a cruise line I suggest that if you like good tips and you want to try something different. Massage envy is a great stater job, they’re like McDonald’s in the massage industry they’re everywhere and I did my externship with them. The pay is ok , not the highest but you can ask for more pay after having more experience. I like elements the pay is competitive. Burke Williams is great, you may even run into a celebrity or 2 at the California locations. This is just off the top of my head however I will definitely make a video on this topic from experience. You should always start off in a franchise industry business. That'll get your feet wet and you can acquire clientele. After you have a few years of experience you could either stay there or spread your wings to Chiropractic officd or being Your Own Boss.
