On January 31, 2024 my Italian child received marrow from a German boy. In addition to the hope of seeing my son enjoy life, I have the great desire to hug his donor. I wish I could look him in the eyes and cry. I wish he could at least imagine the joy he brought to our family. He saved my baby's life. He also gave life to us parents. We would love to hug you and cry with joy. Thank you our brother, we will love you forever.

Hi, Please follow this link: www.dkms.org.uk/register-now. After filling in the form on our website we will need you to swab the inside of your cheeks with a swab kit that you will receive from us via post up to 7-10 working days after registering on our website. Once you've done your swabs and posted them back to us, it usually takes between 4 and 6 weeks for your swabs to be analysed and for you to go on the stem cell registry. Shortly after that, you will receive your donor card.

Hi, thanks for your question. :) It's possible to register with DKMS between the ages of 17-55. The upper age limit is in place in order to protect the safety of the donor and to provide the best possible treatment for patients. Younger people are more likely to be chosen as donors and are less likely to have health issues that could cause complications with donating. With age also comes an increase in risk from anaesthesia. I hope this helps answer your question.
