I’m 15. And My mom always wanted me to become an actor since nobody in my family is one. I started taking Korean lessons and I know prob a few words and I started 2 days ago, and kept studying for 45 minutes, my mom is thinking to go to Korea one day but that’s once we at least learn the language a bit. I’m thinking to become a foreign Kdrama actor and it’s hard knowing how these work.
Wow good luck! I hope you become one in the near future! I wanted to become one too, however now I’m studying business in my local college, not sure if I can still become an actor if I don’t study acting in South Korea
Thank you for the part 2 guys ^^ Loved how your questions and answers were so on point and informative. :) If you see this message, could you answer one last question please? How did you find the sponsoring companies? Would you just google all the entertainment companies that have actors and actresses and then just randomly email them your infos /portfolio in English? Would be awesome if you could answer that. :) Anyways, really interesting vid you guys! ^-^~
Hi again Sky jii, Glad that the information was helpful to you^^ for finding the companies, location is key so being in the actual city can better help to know which ones are legitimate. If you are ever contacted via social media like Instagram, most often those companies are scammers. Being plugged into the network by meeting other foreigners in this industry will help navigate the appropriate companies as they do change often. So simply searching on Google will not be of much help :(
@@elaineinseoul8520 Hi again and thank you for answering this question as well! ^^ Ah, I see, so basically coming to Seoul first and then trying to network by meeting other foreigners (by just hitting them up in IG for example??) in the industry is key then? :) Isn´t it really hard to network these days, as you can´t go out and meet new people currently? >< Anyways, I guess I have another reason to come back to Seoul now ^^;
@@skyjii8430 Hi Sky jii, yes being in the city makes it much more easier to network because you'll meet people that can verify information correctly. This takes time, especially with corona, so don't be afraid to have a slow start :)
let me think about this : if Koreans or other people in Asian countries wan to go and pursue their career in foreign countries, especially in the western hemisphere, they have to be either wealthy enough to be there, like investment type immigration or have specific skills the target country need. Unless, they just would want to be there whatever reason, bite the bullet and change their career, usually really manual type jobs. Here's the dilemma. If you're needed by S.K., you have to have specific skill, like English teaching. Korean labor market, like other east Asian countries have not much vacancies for Westerners except that small field like language teaching. Entertainment... hmm. that's very dangerous field, even Korean nationals are being slapped in their face without knowing at the spur of the moment. Every country has their preconception, you can't do dish washing for living in S.K. as a westerner because you can't. So many South Koreans have experience abroad doing side jobs not allowed by the government of the country they went to as language exchange students. But that kind of experience is hardly seen in case of the westerners. Pursuing career is your goal in S.K? or just staying in S.K? The former is almost impossible to most westerners. the latter is, I dunno, maybe you could if you have connections. Labour market is very polarized to the foreigners. It's not intended, It just is in here. Just name the western country that is widely open to foreigner who want to pursue their career.
Loved it! Thanks a lot for the super useful information! What are some non-sketchy companies that work with foreigners? Can we get some names? Thanks and keep up the great work! Looking forward to your next video
Hi Oana Flavia, I'm happy that the information is helpful to you! Would love to list these companies but the industry and companies themselves change quickly so it's hard to rattle off names easily. Stay tuned~
Hi Hetvanshi, if you're interested in academies then look into the education visa as universities may offer programs. For short-term academies, there's no visa associated so as long as you can find a way to live you can pay for classes like any normal fitness/gym/recreation studio.
Since 2, almost 3 years, I’m really interested in becoming an actor (especially in Korea). The thing is that I’m also interested in other things, do you think it’s possible to be an actor and work somewhere else at the same time? Thanks 😊

Hi Andrea Ramos, ageism is more of a factor for the music industry. Most acting talent are older. I arrived in Seoul at 27 and after two years and finding success.
@@elaineinseoul8520 hey hiican you please give me some suggestions to how to become an actress in Korea I really want to be actress in Korea if not actress atleast model but what if I am not able to fit in those industry like I'm not like kbeauty standards😢😢
Oh my god Elisa great observation. I've been thinking where have I seen this girl before. Yes she's totally like her. And now I too think that it's this girl only.
Hello.. i want to ask what visa should be taken if i want to study in university as well as pursuing acting career in korea? thankyou so much for your helpful content ms chen and ms elaine 🙏🏻
Such an informative video, thank you! Do you know of any English-speaking acting classes in Seoul? I am taking courses in my home country but will be going to Seoul in the fall and would like to continue practicing as much as possible :)
Hi Abigail Pollock, the E-6 is primarily for 'artist' so more designer or specialized jobs like a costume designer or set master would be a company hire (E-7) through a specific company where you can only work for them.
So how can I get an E6 visa, if they mention that it is necessary to go to Korea before to get an entertainment company, because I have seen that going with a tourist visa and finding an entertainment company is illegal.😢
You cant switch to an E6 from a tourist visa. Most people just come to meet with possible agencies while visiting Korea. you would need to leave the country to then apply for the e6 if you are originally coming on a tourist visa.
the commision is so odd. i worked as an extra in Vancouver on sets and what we were told was what we got. I supposed maybe all the extras are always calculated out.
Hi sis im a 15 years old girl and my dream is to be an actress in korea im muslim but im non hijabi also my English it is good good as i think and im learning Korean step by step for now i live in Algeria next year I’ll be in canada and after i graduate from high school i want to go to korea and achieve my dream i think i have time cuz im somehow young so what do you think ? If there was no chance to be an actress I’ll like apply for a job in the acting field or also modelling field im looking forward hearing from you sis
Hi sister, I have a question for u.. Can Muslim girl hijabis can be a k actor in Korea??? And can you tell me the risk of being an Muslim actor in Korea??
Hi. So in order to get a job in the acting industry in South Korea, is the E-6 Visa the only option? How about the C-4-5 Short Term Employment Visa? (For foreigners that want to take on a few short acting gigs, and do not want to live in Korea for long-term). Thank you.
Yes, that is possible. I dont know much about short term visas though but I would assume there would need to be already a scheduled or entertainment related event in place ex: movie shoot
Hi 수빈, try searching for agencies/companies in the Facebook groups that are focused on Seoul Casting or Seoul Actors. FYI the names and companies change constantly, so there's little stability unfortunately.
Loved it!Thanks for super useful information... Actually I want to become a korean drama script writer..But I dont know the process how to proceed it..Can u plz suggest me a right path for thiz....
Hi Bhuvana Angara, for writing most university programs teach the fundamentals. If you're interested in the Korean system, it would be a long-term process of studying in systems (local universities) Korean studio/production companies may be aware of and then working within a studio, network or for a specific writer. The formula for being a script writer is mainly the same regardless of which nation you're in.
Hi Siddhi Rauniyar, if you were to do that, then the modeling would be for portfolio purposes only and not for income. Depending on the university, they may allow small part-time jobs but I'm not sure if modeling is included.

Hi! I am 14 now and I prefer to join the contest to be a South Korean actress. I can not speak Korea but I'm the best at English. Is it possible? I'm from Cambodia. How can and what should I do?
As a minor it would be hard to join the industry unless you live here. I would suggest building up your portfolio for now and learning Korean. Then when you come to Korea you have higher chances
@@ChenFromBklyn Thank you for your reply. It was great to hear from you. I have to finish grade 12 first, it takes 3 more years. And I will go to study Korean in Phnom Penh city next year or next two years. I look forward to hear from you at your earliest convenience. Your sincerely, Solee
Hi kandarp modi, You can apply for any visa when you’re in Korea as long as you have a company to sponsor your visa and you fill out the right paperwork. The student might be the easiest way to enter Korea if you have the funds for both tuition and living. Hope this helps 🤗
I don't get it. In the video you explained first you went to Korea on a tourist VISA to do an interview with several companies and then you found one that helped you to get the E6 VISA. So, did you have to audition before going to Korea or something?
You can legally act as long as you are on the proper visa but unless you are Korean I don’t advise anyone coming to Korea to be an actor. As explained in the video, there areny many jobs for foreigners in the acting field here
