One of the most in depth videos I have done, it took a lot of thought to recognize what it takes to be a driver in F1 Esports, arguably one of the toughest series in racing to get into, let alone do well in. The good thing is, is that it's completely talent orientated!

James, you have a great ability to convey information! Direct and concise, and all backed up with specific examples. I'm not aiming to be an Esports driver but I feel like I've just learnt everything there is to know about it. More videos like this (plus real-life racing) would be great to watch, if you're interested in making them!

Yes ok you didn't do great in e-sports this year but don't put yourself down and more importantly don't listen to those who try to put you down, you have achieved lots this year, I mean how many of those people have driven a GT3 car in a proper series and did excellent for your first season, not many I would guess. You have loads to be proud of. Well done.

Does one always need to use, "audition" and compete in league races through the latest Formula 1 game of that year in order to enter the competition for that year, or can one, for example, use F1 2020 to enter league races and the ESPORTS championship in 2021? i notice high level people overfuelling their cars at the beginning of the race. why?? i always underfuel and then use lean to cool the engine and save ffuel at the same time

I would assume the top guys do this in order to increase the level of mechanical grip that they have. The increased grip will allow them to be faster in the corners, which allows them to pull away from the rest at the start of the race. Towards the end, they will also have more fuel than the rest which will allow them to run a higher engine mode then those that are fuel saving, which means that they can pull away even more.

Being able to go in rich mix on straights is extremely useful for straight line speed, creating overtaking oppurtunities, and generally lap time. Engine temperature isn't really important until you get to like 125 celsius ish, and in high level leagues the only time lean is used effectively is usually as braking starts and before you get on the power. Some drivers can use lean in every corner, start with like +2 laps and still finish with +0.01~ due to how much you can burn on straights & how effective it is. I wouldn't recommend underfuelling as just saving fuel unless it's a wet race (or has rain at any point), or on tracks such as Monaco and Singapore etc.

The one thing i came for he didn't even mention at all , is it better to practice on a rig or is controller fine? Can I compete in an F1 Esports team on a controller? Is there an age limit? Given that we're not actually driving real cars that can get damaged and have to pay for

My understanding is that it's ok to use a controller in online qualifying events that you have to do from home but once you're in F1 Esports you're gonna have to use a proper rig cause controllers are not allowed in actual F1 Esports races (chances are you won't have to pay for it, your team will take care of that but even if they make you pay it'll be kinda like a business expense for you cause your team will pay you a salary and you'll get prize money if you rank highly enough in the championship so you'll be getting returns on your investment). As far as age limits go, I believe it's 16 with your parents' permission and 18 or older without it

The thing is i’m from Namibia, and Namibia is more of a country that nobody really looks for, ppl usually look for people in Spain, Germany, England, Britain, Brazil etc. I just feel like i won’t be able to be an F1 esport driver. Plus my parents always tell me “it’s a waste of time just quit doing this will get you nowhere”

Heres one to get you strarted discord.gg/JPUBqfDA . we are a very much community driven league but have seen drivers get much better and then go on to race in AOR and AME and MRL. Im not saying the league i linked is the fastest league but will give you a good taste of competiitve driving and you will definitley learn about other leagues within the first few months.

I think the best game for eSports is Dirt Rally 2.0, reason being, you can create clubs with a time limit of 7 days per event for example, and people can run the course any time they like within that 7 days. It has built in championship points etc... Its just a whole lot more practical to be an eSport. I feel F1 needs to improve more by having online championships built into the game that people can create rather than having to trawl google to find these leagues then join the website etc etc.
