Echeveria are some of the most popular succulents and once you start growing them, one is never enough. Luckily, most are easy to propagate.
But not all Echeveria are created the same and there is not one, best way to propagate these succulents that applies to absolutely all Echeveria out there.
I have grown and propagated over 200 Echeveria species and cultivars and in this video, will share some of the ways these plants can be propagated.
This will include offset cuttings, leaf and seed propagation as well as topping.

Beautiful!!!❤ Been watching you videos to keep myself motivated! I’ve been having issues with mold… 😟

Oh no, i hate mold ☹. Is it powdery mildew? The only way i'm able to keep it at bay is spray throughout the mildew season religiously, every couple of weeks with a fungicide. Such a pain.. The good news is, it should disappear eventually.🤞

Most informative. Perhaps another U tube could be made where the summer temps are in excess of 40 degrees ad proper attention to pants in such situations? Tom

Thank you 🙂 I have a video that kind of covers this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-h4HvwLUc8Xg.htmlsi=wBTEpnaMPZguBrKQ But basically, you can either move succulents into bright shade or put a shadecloth over them. They will deal with the temperatures well over 40C as long as they are protected from direct sun. Hope this helps 🙂

When you are propagating by leaf, how long does it usually take from the moment you cut the leaf until they are ready to be planted in pots?

Thank you so much for this super helpful video ❤ Would it be generally the same with echeveria hybrids?
@SucculentGrowingTips
@SucculentGrowingTips Год назад
Yup, i'd say in most cases they will either be able to grow from leaf or offsets or both. If they don't, then topping will force them to produce heads. If it's not a brand new hybrid, you can try looking it up online to see if photos show pups and what other people say about propagating it- there's a good chance someone else has done the legwork 🙂

Ive read a lot of people recommending using a rooting hormone..ive never used one before, but i have about 20 leaves im currently calousing over.. do you find it makes a difference? If so should you use it before or after callous
@SucculentGrowingTips
@SucculentGrowingTips 4 месяца назад
Imo, i don't think succulents need rooting hormone and personally don't use it. Other nursery owners i know don't bother either, however, succulents here do grow quite fast as the climate is good and growing season long.. I once tried as an experiment to compare but the difference was negligible. I also tried on succulents that don't normally produce leaf babies and that didn't work either. Having said that, some people do swear by it. My recommendation would be to see how these will go for you and if they take too long or fail you can try the hormone.. Hope you'll end up loads of leafbabies 🙂💚

Thank you once again for a good video. My problem with leaf propagation is always that d babies come out weak or very tall. They never look tiny cute chubby replica of the mom. Any suggestions for that would be much appreciated.Also when we take pups or behead the mom is it good to fertilise the plant? Thank you so much.
@SucculentGrowingTips
@SucculentGrowingTips Год назад
It could possibly be that they are in too much shade. I usually see leafbabies growing tall/ weak when i have trays stacked up on shelves and the most bottom tray that receives the least sun has them growing like that. But once you pot them up and place in enough sunlight they'll correct their growth. My leaf prop trays are in an igloo with 30% shade factor so the leafbabies get sunlight as well. It's definitely a good idea to fertilize or repot as the plant will need nutrients to produce new heads after beheading. Hope this helps 🙂

@@SucculentGrowingTips . Yes mine are definitely getting less light. I will shift around the leaf trays n find the right spot. Thank you so much.

Can tiny leaves, the size of buttons used can used to propogate succulents?
@SucculentGrowingTips
@SucculentGrowingTips Год назад
Yeah, they work. The leaf baby will just be smaller, but it will get there in the end. If i have tiny leaves, i usually put 4 or 5 in one pot to speed up filling it up 😁
