This was our first episode we've made on our "How To" series! In this video, we demonstrate on a 2019 Audi S5 how to vinyl wrap the window trim gloss black. We get a lot of customers in to the shop asking for our chrome delete service, and thought it would be a great idea to take you guys through the process and show you step by step along with the tools you might need. I would suggest using knifeless tape for beginners. 90 percent of us ain't actual surgeons.

To add to my suggestion, knifeless tape saves time and effort needed for cutting the vinyl wrap. The tape cost $ but actually worth it in the end.

@@richardlee6698 I noticed someone use that thin little tape, I guess it was knifeless tape that went underneath the wrap. But he only used on top part of chrome trim piece. Wondering if you can put 2 pieces of knifeless tape on top and bottom of the same chrome trim piece. I’ll keep searching, because that looks so much easier. Worst case, it does look perfect. If it last a couple years, well worth not seeing that ugly chrome trim! Lol

I respect your blade skills. Much more precise than mine. For that reason, whenever possible I remove all of those trims and wrap them off the vehicle. I'm more comfortable doing it that way.

a lot of vehicles you can't remove trim without breaking it so leaving it on the vehicle is safer and easier in the long term

Doing it yourself is fine if you have a lot of patience, time, sweat and have a decent dry, non raining place to do it, in addition if your great at installing window tint then there you go, now in those cases your not good at it, its fine and you shouldn't be embarrassed in finding a shop with some talent like this guy, its worth paying for

For first timers, pay the extra money for knifeless tape. $30 in tape can potentially save you hundreds if you damage your paint with the blade.

Love this! I’m getting my q5 sport back in white and I was not paying for the black optic package so wrapping I shall go. I’d love to see blacking out the fender. And other parts of the Audi.

Found that it is more effective to roll down the window, and some cars are easier by just removing the molding assembly and doing the wrap on a table.

great content! this was in my recommendation so I decided to take a look, also if you just took a pen and stabbed a hole in the film, you can make the relief cut there or just waste cut; both the curve cut and the poke cut work well. "kiss of heat." I see JP inspired you!

@@rayzecor It took me all day into the night on my b7 passat. Looks good though. Definatley would recommend having a squeegee to press down on the vinyl. Also, a tucking tool and a quality razor knife will make the job easier. 👌 I ended up using the wrap they sell at advance auto, and I actually like it. Good stuff still holding up all this time later

How do you "Push" off a window as you're pulling vinyl HaHa But essentially, id have started with side back window, then go along the top. Now the seam is facing backwards, taking the brunt of the wind while driving, possibly causing it to lift at the seam. No?

i tried this myself on my lexus rc 300, and it went okay. I definitely have air bubbles showing in some spots which bugs the heck out of me. It looks great from far distance, but up close, it looks kinda bad.... gonna touch it up again tomorrow... wish me luck

Idk about celsius but we use porter cable heat guns and keep the setting on the dial with the little thermometer facing down for wrap. Idk exact measurement but maybe around 400-500 degrees F. that's just a shot in the dark, I could be way off

I just found your channel and have a question: my car was recently repainted, and the black trim was supposed to be painted black as well - it was already black- it just was supposed to be repainted black to look new again. Instead the paint and body shop used heavy duty black tape as the accent- and wondered how does tape hold up in a state with lots of rain and sun (and no garage for protection)?

That piece is far enough from the exhaust. It's not sitting right on the exhaust tip

very carefully and slowly lol. I also used vinyl wrap tuck tools I got on amazon! The set with the blue, black and red ones

you could but its more of a hassle and opens the door to possible issues if you take it off improperly

I paid someone to do my Q50RS and they cut some rubber trim on the pillar separating the front and rear door on the driver's side. Any adhesive I can use to stick the piece on the pillar so it's not flopping around

I would go back to the shop and have them replace that piece or pay for the replacement if it's obnoxious. If anything is broken during dissassembly, I always replace it

You can use a tape measure, measuring tape or any other measuring medium. You can also use a piece of painters tape/magnet to tack the tip of the tape where you want to start, put a piece of tape or magnet along the way at a mid point to hold it up and at the end of where you’ll be wrapping and just cut the film when you’ve pulled enough. Plenty of different ways, you just have to pick the method that works best for you. No dumb questions brother, we all have different brain chemistry and life perceptions.

Are you able to still use that strip vinyl piece for the curved part towards the back? If so maybe doing it in 2 pieces and meeting at the triangle and overlaying it with knifeless?

How did you wrap the bottom inside of the top trim? On my Audi S3 8v it is ribbed. Do you push the wrap into every single rib? And you wrap the mirror caps or do you just replace them with black ones?

more often then not I'll replace mirror caps with carbon fiber or black options. I can wrap it but it takes twice as long and it'll have seams depending on the angles and design of the mirrors. Not all mirrors can be done in one piece!

very slowly and carefully. I use a 30 degree NT cutter blade with only blade pressure. I always crack the blade so I have a brand new sharp blade for cuts like this

Why didn’t you just use a detail brush on it while you washed it the first time? Then you wouldn’t have to keep going back and forth getting the dirt out after with a towel and tuck tool.
