Hi thanks for the tutorial but was it dangerous to bleed the air out, was the water coming out very hot and pressurized or no and safe to do? for how long? lol sorry for too many questions but im really interested to do it myself i've been renting this 2 bdroom apartment and very cold in here, super tells me they activate the heating already 2 months ago but still ice cold in here need your help right away, thanks.

Yes, it will fill back up with water once the heat is turned on in the house. What you are doing is relieving trapped air that might be in the system. Hope this video helps you out.

Howdy. On 2nd floor of a rental unit, the baseboard heater barely gets warm but radiators in other rooms work fine. The radiators have bleed valves. The baseboard heater has something similar but there's no slot for a screwdriver, just a square thing in the middle that looks like maybe it needs a special tool. Should I fiddle with it to see if it will let out trapped air? And would it help to bleed the valves of the rooms to the left & right of the baseboard heater room? Appreciate advice... :-( Thanks.

The baseboard heaters here all have some thin white cord/line which is run in the hole with the inlet pipes. Wondering what that could be. Does this sound like anything you are familiar with?

@HomeOwnerRepair

Not 100% sure, if us goes away any trapped air may be getting released from the relief vent in the plumbing system, usually there is one at the boiler. Hope this helps you out.

@HomeOwnerRepair
@HomeOwnerRepair 11 месяцев назад
You might have something else going on. I would check the furnace to see if it is operating correctly. When the thermostat calls for heat hot water should releases from the boiler, the pipes will get hot, if they are cold after one of the water valves you could have a bad valve. Hope this helps you out.

Is sounds like the hot water is being prevented from reaching the heating element somewhere in the plumbing system. You might have to physically follow the pipe to see where the hot water is getting trapped. Hope this helps you out.

@wcrr4230

Some systems have a fill valve that will automatically fill the system. Others have a valve that has to be opened manually to fill it. It should fill so the pressure gauge reads around 12-14psi.

Anyone know the size of the bleeder valve say to attach a hose fitting to it once the cap is removed. We created one years ago at a place I worked. Worked amazingly well. He mentioned letting the water from the valve bleed into a dish or bowl and that can be very time consuming,attaching a tiny hose the valve into a small bucket took us all of 3 to 5 minutes when this was needed.

Wow, thanks for your comment 2 years ago! I've been doing it wrong, thinking if water comes out it means there's no air. I think I accidentally purged the air over time, but I sure wasn't thinking it through correctly as I did it. Now I'm having some sort of problem with water coming out of the overflow pipe at the heater or pump, and also apparently have a sump pump problem. Just refreshing my memory of how the whole system works in order to troubleshoot it 😅

What you want to do is find a valve On that heating zone and close it then bleed only the air out as soon as I have all water stop taking it out it will turn hot after it circulates thru the piping and back to the boiler . If you try to bleed with no valve closed on either end of the zone you could just be moving air right past your bleeder tee

Good way to burn your fingers and make a mess. Purge set ups are usually in the basement at the boiler for purging air from the system for Forced how water systems. Older systems may be MonoFlow systems where you'll see a main line in the basement and each radiator will have 2 pipes coming off the main line to supply the radiator. Those you can bleed through the vent located at the radiator WITHOUT turning the heater on. In either case, you need to keep the boiler pressure high to bleed all air but don't let the boiler pressure exceed 30 psi. You can do this by manually opening the auto feeder on the boiler.
