How to Blow a Flower with Acrylic Fluid Paint

Check out this video on how to blow a flower with acrylic fluid paint. Inspired by Mely D, I decided to try this painting technique on my own. I now understand how difficult it is to keep the flower centered. You also need to control your blows - ha, ha - yes, I just said "control your blows"...weird. What I mean is that sometimes you blow harder than other times, you can see where I blew too hard at times throughout the video.
Tip: Take breaks to breathe so you don't pass out!
The more I play with blow painting and using a hair dryer, the more I'm thinking about purchasing an air brush. I wonder if the air brush would offer more control. Let me know if you ever experimented with the air brush to blow on acrylic paint and tell me how it worked out for you.
As always, please let me know what you think of this video! I always love to hear from you so comment below and tell me what you think OR what else you'd like to see. Maybe you have an experiment you would like me to try?!
Keep calm and paint on!
Shout out to bensound.com for the tunes!

This is far more interesting than just throwing paint. It was a good thing to watch for those of us who want to try pouring paint. And I'm such a hard critic I've been admonished by youtube for my honesty. I dont give a crap what youtube tubesteak eaters say. I'll say whatever I want to. This was good schooling for us amateur pourers!!! I loved it!!! It was #EXCELLENTART

For the 'flower' I think maybe you could have stopped at 8:20. After that I think it was lost....HOWEVER, you turned out a terrific piece of work! Good job. This is not meant to be a backhanded compliment! lol Really, a good job!

Although the finished painting is lovely...I have to say the most beautiful was the initial white and green blow - that 'wispy' 'mistake' gave a really neat effect. I really loved it the best.

I really loved it at the beginning with the white and turquoise. After that it was not so good. Then it just got too clouded with too much paint. Also, I think it might have come out better if you tied your hair out of the way.

Halfway through I wanted to say stop it’s so pretty and then you blew some more and it was just as beautiful but when you blow backwards across that area it’s all dark and I’ll but since I can’t even begin to accomplish such a beautiful place I’m going to leave you with the thoughtThat you are doing great and the picture is lovely

Hey there Judy! I call you out in my next video, posting tomorrow morning. I'm in 100% agreement with you. I may use this technique in the future to create feathers AND I thought about some other techniques I could possibly use to create feathers. Maybe I'll try them in future videos. Thank you for watching and commenting!

I am strange but I liked the result after the first blow I am wondering if you had done your other colors with the blue and blew it out just one time rather than layering if that would have worked.

I love the overlapping petal look. Try using rubber tubing instead of a straw. It will give you better control overlapping and shaping the petals. Also not blowing too hard is key. It spreads out the petals, blending the colors more evenly.

That's so cool! Maybe try some surgical or aquarium tubing as an alternative to a straw. Much more control and much easier to manuver. Cheers to you

Maybe less color paint in the middle of each white drop. That may give it a more easier color flow and not too wide or messy looking when you blow outward.

It's pretty! I commend you for taking on a work of art that requires so much of your lung capacity. Lol...just kidding! While watching you paint there were points when I was saying stop, stop!!! It was so cool. Where the colors were still vibrant. I say practice your blowing technique (I'm not trying to be mean, I've been a painter since high school 😉) pause to look at your work. Sometimes it's better to stop sooner than to keep working it. Tfs! 💖

I like it how it is. The last gold pour in the middle looks like a stamen & makes it look more 3D. The outer pastel petals almost look like feathers. Very soft & feminine. I wd enjoy looking at it as it is interesting & didnt just create 1 textural look/technique.

@kayceegreer4418
@kayceegreer4418 6 лет назад
It's really better to blow away from you; when you blow towards yourself there's too much air forced directly straight down and you're mostly out of breath when it comes to getting to the edge of the framed canvas. I'm glad to see you turned the canvas around; it would be ideal if you could walk around the table surface and, to avoid the muddiness that happens by overworking one area, blow away from you or have your painting on a lazy Susan so you can easily turn it so that you're always blowing away from yourself ; you get better color spread without it looking "less than best". Everything you blew away from yourself looked best. Physiologically speaking you're basically doing a "crunch" (a standing sit-up,if u will) and really working that diaphragm when you blow and bend towards yourself - it forces the air out harder ; you actually had to go over it more times when you are blowing towards yourself until you decided to turn the frame and blow away from you ; by the way, blowing to the side didn't work out so well for you either, so unless you remember to get left or right of center and tilt your head so you can start your blow parrallel and remember which way to move the straw (some blows looked like a drunk's walk and went wonky), you should always blow away. My grand-daddy used to say, " If you're gonna work, get your ass-end behind you, so you can work!" It has stood me in good stead of his presence and I have always found it to be true. You have a better perspective and you can see better what you're doing, you have a better angle for everything you do. Even for backing out of something that is not happening as well as you might like. My personal favorite saying is "work smarter - not harder" and there's my other stand-by, "you only have time in life to do it right once, so do it once - right the first time, whatever it is". Thinking ahead saves time and money and feelings of disappointment.

with painting unless you are developing your piece stroke by stroke with a brush there is always going to be an element of surprise in the piece which is why it is good practice to slow down and reevaluate after each stage to see if your plan needs to change. had you slowed down with this piece you might have seen that the initial green flower you laid down was by itself potentially beautiful enough to be the center of the piece, it would have made a beautiful painting.....

Fantastic project! But you also have a lot of patience! If I had used the straw for so long, I would have ended up taking a breath and taking a sip of fluid acrylic paint!!! Anyway, congratulations. I like very much!
