***** PLEASE READ ME FOR MORE DETAILS****
Hey Guys,
This is all about getting the best results from your blowout!! I started the video with already shampooed and conditioned hair...Here is what I used Aveda Sun Care with is a clarifying shampoo, I did my second shampoo with Biolage Age Rejuvenating Shampoo and I deep conditioned with Moroccan Oil Hydrating Mask. I towel blotted with a white tee-shirt and sprayed the Design Essential HCO Leave-in Conditioner, and applied the Matrix Leave-in...both are heat protectants and the most important part to the blowout. Please note that what I shampoo and condition with are what works for me...you can use any shampoo and conditioner...just make sure you use a heat protectant!!! The blow dry I use is an FHI Blow-dryer. Make sure to check out Pt. 2 for the flatiron and trim!!!
XOXO,
Maria Antoinette
Here is the direct link to Pt. 2 which focuses on flat ironing and trimming your natural hair. • How to Straighten and ...

Thank you glad it was helpful. Follicle is where the hair grows out of..where hair is made. Cuticle in regards to hair is the outer layer on your hair shaft. Hope that helps. So when I speak of closing the cuticle it means to lay that outer layer down which equals smoother hair.

When I first started blowing my natural hair out years ago this was the best and easiest technique, using the comb attachment. Now that I do hair I find it so much easier to us a Denman like brush for a extremely straight blowout. They both work but with a little bit more work you get a better blowout with the brush and the technique I show!

Oh my goodness, you are such a sweetie! Besides your hair coming out great. I tried that, to make my hair behave by using my head and a Denman brush but you're so much better at it than me! My hair is like European hair. It can get frizzy and fly away, kind of wavy. I found this...I bought a bottle of VO5 hair conditioner and an empty spray bottle. I put three tea spoons in and added water, shake and spritz on hair. Comb through, leave on for around an hour. I cleansed my hair and WOW! It was so soft and more manageable! Your tutorial was very nice, interesting and uplifting.

You don't have to use extreme heat to get straighter hair, which will less the possibility of heat damage. But with any heat you should invest in a heat protector. hope that helps!

I would say that any brush can make it feel like your pulling your hair out. Make sure that your untangle the hair from the ends to the root never try to pull any brush from the roots to the ends without breaking down the hair first.

Thanks for making these videos. You are a blessing. I know this sounds wierd and stuff but i was adopted as a baby into a white family that didn't know how to take care of my afro haha! my mom did my hair up until she passed when I was 10 and after that, I had corn rows with a little puff ball fro or weaves. I'm 22 living on my own now and finally want to go natural and you are the help I needed! Thank you:) Peace and Blessings stay safe in this crazy world.
@MariaAntoinetteTV
@MariaAntoinetteTV 11 лет назад
Hey, As a professional I have to say I get much straighter hair with my brush vs a comb attachment on the hair dryer. The brush holds the hair more taunt which gives a better straightness. I hope this helps. As for shedding not much especailly if you break down each section nice and easy and dont rip through your hair.
@MariaAntoinetteTV
@MariaAntoinetteTV 11 лет назад
If I where you I would use a medium heat and don't start blowing out your hair until it's damp not dripping wet. While your hair is wet really work out tangles and prep with the right heat protectors. Separate your hair into working sections and go from there your hair should return back to curly once you shampoo again! Best of luck!

I always wondered what that "doohickey" was for. I have mainly depended on the comb and got my hair pretty straight but always with some "poof". I'm definitely gonna try that attachment and follow your instructions. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge. I don't recommend the comb attachment because it can just give that effect. I really focus on parting for control and making sure my hair is completely brushed out with a Denman prior to even turning on the dryer. Also my hair isn't dripping wet. Yes I use a brush with the concentrator I can also straighten with just the dryer if I brush my hair and then hold it taunt and put the concentrator right on the hair and it will straighten that way to (I show this in the video) Blow dryer was on high

@MariaAntoinetteTV
@MariaAntoinetteTV 11 лет назад
@Jambeauty098280 it starts with really clean hair, then good light heat Protectants! If you have that down pack then look at your blow dryer and flatiron if they aren't hot enough it will not straighten as easy and in the long run cause you to go over the hair multiple times which can cause heat damage! Try Sally's Brauty supple for really powerful blow dryer or flatiron you can also buy direct from FHI online! I hope that helps!

@kathryn miller thank you! It takes me about 15-20 mins to blowout my hair and about 25 to flatiron I NEVER put a heat tool in my hair again until I won't to wear my hair straight again, which is very little! By the time I get to the upside down slow out part my hair is already pretty straight so I don't loose any hair in that technique.

@MariaAntoinetteTV
@MariaAntoinetteTV 11 лет назад
When I wear my hair in it's natural state i have to make sure to keep my hair hydrated and and done...if I let my hair style go too long I tend to get them, when straight I don't normally get them!
@Debrica82
@Debrica82 10 лет назад
I followed and went step by step. Funny thing though, my flat iron decided it wasn't going to heat up andmore after 3/4 of my entire head was done. So I went BACK to the blow dryer and it was a total fail. Will be buying another flat iron and a nozzle for my dryer for the next time I try this.

@MariaAntoinetteTV
@MariaAntoinetteTV 11 лет назад
Okay I would suggest doing a vinegar rinse for your scalp (Google recipe) then only shampoo every two weeks. I understand you are shampooing so much because you want your hair to look nice..try just conditioning wash no shampoo. Shampoo drys hair out so in between the two weeks co-wash. Also you need to seal you moisture in, so after your leave in conditioner use an oil, either coconut oil, grape sead oil or EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive oil) I can't tell you which will work best for your hair.
