OMG. I somehow missed this video in my searches through your channel to find out how to do just this, without that godawful halo around the subjects. I'm so glad I found it today. Nobody can explain Photoshop like you can! Thank you, thank you!
Aaron, not related to this specific video, but wanted to reach out and thank you for everything you do. I binged a lot of your videos yesterday and learned so much.
I know for someone out there who learn how to use photoshop at their college this is simple. But for anybody who never learn it by "studying" this is super helpful.. thanks for sharing really enjoy watch it. So easy to understand for amateurs
I have seen similar tutorials, but the added tips regarding the lighten blend mode for smaller lighter details and the blurring of the layer mask were brilliant. I had not seen those before and they address common problems I have run into on similar composites. Great tips and as always great instruction. Thank you!
I`m just starting in Photoshop, just want to thank you and give my gratitude for the video. You are explaining it and I`m not just following it like a machine. This is the important thing- you explain it and we know what and why, thanks again.
Very informative video. I had a busy background and the spot healing brush didn't do a very good job. I made a selection of my subject then used the content aware fill. It did a good job for me. I then followed the rest of your tutorial.
another excellent tutorial! the spot healing tip is amazing ... never thought about that method to get around the subject glow problem! many times i want to blur the background a bit; i was cutting the subject out and maybe duplicating the background to fill the cut or transforming the duplicated background to fill in the cut subject area and then blur - but - the results were often hit and miss; i will try the spot healing method next time! this was also a nice reminder on how to handle sharp mask edges and hair wispies ... with the blur tool and the lighten blend mode ... good stuff as always PHLEARN ...!
I think I literally clutched at my chest when you used the lighten layer to put the hair detail back. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS. I've been doing it the hard way for way too long. D:
thank you so much sir........thanks for sharing this tutorial...................I learn a lot..........Really helpful tutorial......Again thank you.......
Hey Aaron, awesome stuff as always! You've really been the go-to guy for me in terms of photos and things like that. What an inspiration. That said, I wish you didn't begin speeding up the video before we had a chance to see what you do with the hair in this case... Would have been nice to see how to handle that. At any rate, great video! And thank you.
This is such a cool tutorial, very well done! I'm new to Photoshop and tho I have a good concept of editing there's a lot that photoshop can do I don't know about. So thanks!
I think this is the best tutorial I've watched for blurring backgrounds in PS. Thanks very much Aaron! I have a question about one of the steps - why did you add noise? You mentioned that it makes the picture look too Photoshopped, but all I see is extra noise that didn't need to be there. Can you please explain a bit more why you added noise?
Came here to see how you did this technique, left with a higher appreciation for the Spot Healing Brush Tool. Edit: I want that vest its so cool looking
Very good video, I cannot afford lenses (telephoto) that have a wide aperture like example 2.8 and I really like the blurred background "effect" with bird photography. Your video makes it look vert realistic with the blurred edges, the grain and the tilt-shift. Thanks alot!
Tkx for another great tuts! About unlinking mask in order to blur mask edge without blurring layer, I just did a test, turned out I don't have to unlink it.
