In this video, i’m going to show you how to blur backgrounds in Photopea the right way - avoiding the ugly halos that you sometimes may find.

@@photopeapro I have a question, why is it that when i draw or select an area within the subject layer, it doesnt actually select the area within the lines i have drawn, but instead just selects the line. How do I fix this?

quick question. why does when i do this, the selection include a huge square around of selection around the other selection. it makes it impossible to just get the item i want and not its vicinity as well. thank you

When you do the selection, you are selecting what you want to get rid of. So you go around the subject and basically select the whole background. You would have to select the four corners as well

Instead of using the pen to make a selection, I just clicked Select > Remove BG. It was faster, easier, and more accurate for hair.

When I convert the path I created with pen tool to selection it automatically make rectangle selection around my selection and it delete my selection and the background that is out of the rectangle selection. How to fix that?

You can invert the mask, in the mask settings (double click on the black and white mask picture)

Hi, There are several sharpening methods in Photopea, which I will cover on a video coming soon 👍 But as for making them higher resolution (without losing a ton of quality) you would need an external AI assisted upscaler. I'll cover that soon as well so keep a look out.

Thanks Mostafa! True, but creating accurate depth maps for complex/busy background like this is not really an option a lot of the time. The only post processing method i've seen to do anything close to a camera accurate blur is in the newer Photoshop versions 'Depth Blur' neural filter... and even that isn't super accurate.
