How to blur faces in Premiere Pro.
This is also a very common question for beginners. This technique can also be applied to license plates or logos in your videos as seen in documentaries for instance. You also see a lot of prank videos where people are being blurred out when you don't have a permit to show them in your videos.
So to blur out the faces just apply the 'mosaic' effect from the Effects Panel to your clip and tweak the settings for horizontal and vertical blocks so you get the desired pixelated effect.
With the effect applied add an 'ellipse mask' to the effect in the 'Effect Controls' Panel.
Place the mask on the face. With the 2 handles on the top right of the mask, you can tweak the expansion of the mask and make it bigger or smaller without even touching the points of the mask.
The other handle with tweak the feather of the mask.
Now the only thing to do is head over to the Effect Controls again and hit the little play button ('Track Selected Mask Forward').
Premiere Pro does a very good job tracking masks. Even with this video where the guy is first looking on his smartphone, then looking up, and then looking down again.
