In this video I cover how to install a body lift in an n70 Hilux (2005 - 2015). I found some of the instructions included in the kit I bought to be a little bit confusing so I tried to clarify everything here.
You could tell that you had one to many beers by the end of the vid 😂. Either way thanks for the help mate. Will hopefully be doing mine some time this weekend
Hey man! Love the vid. Just wondering how you did the radiator drop because I can’t seem to understand brackets are installed. If you could send a picture of front and back of the brackets that would be great! Thanks mate!
Hey mate. Im just curious for what was your reason for doing a body lift, was it to give you more space for the 285's for scrubbing under compression or was it purely just a cosmetic thing? Cheers
Yeah wanted to get clearance for the tyres without having to cut too much, I still need to do the body mount chop to get it working properly and get the full amount of flex possible
Hey mate I’ve got a kit for mine, how’d you go locating the rear cab mounts? I can’t feel any bolt from the inside under the rear seats of my extra cab, cheers
The bolts are actually further back, you need to pull out the plastic panel underneath the back rest of the rear seats and then there are small black plastic circle plugs that lift out and the bolts are under there
Andrew Eliott Thanks mate, there just off eBay here’s the link rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com.au%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F322114714179
Remy Bramaryz1 yeah it’s actually an sr5 bumper off a 2010. Mines an 06 sr i just had to make a couple of extra holes in it along the top but apart from that it all lines up
Hey mate I had a facelift bumper on mine and I just cut the bottom mounts off so it was held on by the top mounts and zip tied at the bottom so it didn’t rattle
Hayden Lees not hard mate just take your time, as long as you loosen both bolts through the steering extension you don’t need to do anything else just jack it up and it will pull itself free then put the other one in place behind it and check it for alignment as you lower it back down
Hayden Lees yeah I just took the keys out and turned the wheel so the steering lock came on. Just make sure you mark the steering extension and the spline so that you can line it up to the same spline again or your steering wheel will be crooked
Nah didn't end up getting around to that yet haha I should get onto that but theres a couple of steps. 1. You will have to find a tyre shop and tell them you want the caster adjusted all the way forwards or as far forwards as they can. (I used Bob Jane at Keperra if your in Brisbane). do this step first so you can do the rest yourself at home. 2. I cut a bit out of the front bumper using an angle grinder but you can use a hacksaw or jigsaw or anything that works its just plastic. I just took a little bit at a time and used a bit of paper to mark a template so I could match it on the other side. I had to put the wheels on to do this so i could see where they would rub. 3. If they still scrub on the back you may need to remove some of your flare if you have flares and/or flatten the metal pinch weld along the back. there should be posts on facebook about how to do this, it's not very difficult just take your time and do it neat if you have to but i didn't end up needing to do this at all.
Ryan Cameron cheers heaps for the reply 🤘 that's pretty good you don't scrub at all with 285's I'm running 32/11.5 on neg 22 rims and I just scrub on full lock hitting a bump, but I plan on going to 33's or 285's I just wasn't too keen on body mount chopping for resale reasons, what offset are you running too btw
Hey man. Are you from QLD. If so how did u legalise the body lift or are you just running it illegal. Because I want to do one but with all the new fuss happening at the moment idk.
Hayden Lees hey mate I am in QLD, there’s a couple of ways to have it legal you can either have a combination of 2” body 2” sus and 2” wheel diameter increase. but only two of those, you can’t have all three. Or you can have all three with a mod plate and what you can get mod plated really depends on who you know as some will do a max of 2” body 2” sus with 285’s and others will mod plate bigger lifts and tyres.
Everything would be the same but I’m not 100% sure what would happen with your shifter, I assume you may have to get some kind of spacer or extension for the shifter surround or if not your shifter might drop by 2”
@@ryantayler5104 My transfer case shifter is just lower down, still works fine though and didn't have to trim the transmission tunnel or anything like that.
Followed 👍🏼 I watched the body lift for the tray video when I raised my tray and it helped me a lot cause I just learn better by seeing how it’s done rather then instructions 😂
Yes that’s correct, unless you had a mod plate for it. That being said you’d be super unlucky to get someone to actually pick it out if they weren’t specifically looking for it
Got me buggered why people call it an N70? Ive owned one for 10years now and no where on compliance plates, hand book or even ordering parts is it refered to an N70 even from Toyota. Depending on options its a KUN25 or like mine KUN26R
Yeah it’s actually not an N70, N70 would be a late 80’s model hilux. The only reason I put N70 in my titles is because I know people search that while looking for this model hilux haha the first generation hilux’s (late 60’s / early 70’s) were an N10 and the next gen was N20 and maybe that’s how some people came to n70 for this model. But yeah I don’t know why people call it N70 either.
Your not showing nothing on the video on anything getting done just talking and explaining. people want to see it done not told how to do it. If you have video on it would be great 👍🏻
