Thanks so much for the video, I just moved to Oahu Hawaii and went to Belows Beach there for some body boarding, I borrowed a friend's body board so although it wasn't the right fit, I had a great time and even caught a few waves! I will use your info you provided now to get my own, being 5 feet tall shouldn't tough lol.
that's really useful, thank you so much. i love bodyboarding and would love to try it more proffesionally, but i live in the uk and the waves aren't big enough and we never go abroad. i need to move to australia or something!
The uk has some decent surf aroumd devon and cornwall i know your comment is 10years old but dont do the uk dirty like that we get better waves than most think the beaches aroumd parrenporth, carolyn bay ect are great Newquay of course and if you talk to locals amd get pointed in the right directions you can find some.gems of places that dont have a lot of attention even 10 yesrs down the line we had great waves this week a couple of day i sat and watched as the waves and whote water where to much for me the weather was not great but the surf was fine had a great 2 weeks i try and go 2 or 3 times a year but it is a 8 hour drive for me that hurts
Using fins gives you a HUGE advantage in catching waves as well as turning and doing tricks. It is really har if not impossible to get a wave without fins.
nice, according to that chart i need a 43'' board, i want to buy one! i kinda messed my last one (too many wipeouts) but since im gettin' a little serious about it, your video helps a lot. I wonder where can i buy one, i live near puerto escondido, maybe there.
Im looking to get back into bodyboarding after about 10 years out, mainly for exercise but I was half decent back then. I was abit lost with these new boards but this video helped so cheers for that. Im wondering what sort of board you guys would recommend for a 6ft 120kg guy with medium ability?
Ways to size a board. 1. Nose of board at the bottom of chin, tail of board at knee. 2. Tail of board at feet, nose of board at belly button or inch above or below belly button.
Goober tuber go on a bodyboard website, such as 662 bodyboards or bodyboard king and search for "bigger guys" boards. Those ar evade for people who weigh a lot or are just really tall
i am 158cm and 54kg and I had no idea what was the right size for me. My mom always got me board closer to 42' or 43' and it worked, but I knew i needed smaller. Now after watching this I have a 38' and I love it! THX
They’re recreational “boogie boards” and can’t handle waves that are bigger than 3-4 face. I myself have tried to use an old Morey Mach-9 which is over a decade old... because there is no stringer on the board, it gives no support and can easily snap. Also paddling out is so much harder with those cheap ass boards because of how light they are. Duck diving is almost impossible as the waves just push you backwards.
@FreshDesigns69 yeah bodyboards r expensive. I got mine at a consignment store. Look for used body boards they r just as good as new ones as long as they aren't all scuffed up or something. And used ones aren't very expensive
should i pick 100 or a 500. every website states that 100 is for small waves and 500 is for mid' waves. what is small? what is middle? i don't want to waste money on a 100 just to break it on what i consider a mid' wave, but i also don't want to slow myself down with a 500
I'm 6'3" and 105kg . Mid 40s and getting my little guy into it. I bought a 45,comes up to my belly button nearly. Floats sweetly. Bit big for my 8 year old but he's 4'10" and 60kg,I'm sure he's gonna be a big boy too. He's learning to swim in surf so I stay with him,but I'm love the drop in feel again. Don't grow old ever.!!! If you're thinking about getting back in,just do it before you turn 90. Shark biscuits for life
my fins are chorckchill ← (what ever the name is) the blue and yellow one , the work perfectly for me i have better suim and i catch the waves more easy i really recommend those fins
Don't listen to people who try to act like know-it-alls and tell you this brand is better than that brand. It's bullshit from a bullshitter. The truth is, MOST of the brands are pretty much the same. The "better" brand is the one that is most comfortable on your feet. Nothing will ruin your session like a pair of fins that are too tight and cramp/cut your feet OR a pair that is too loose and gets sucked off your feet everytime you duck dive a wave.
if your boards to big the nose of the board is going to be too far away and the more you move closer the less control of your legs you will have..too small and you wont be able to control it properly.. the better you get the more you will notice the massive difference half an inch can make on a board...for instance I am 6ft and a 42" inch board feels to long when prone but 41.5" feels perfect.
SOTHICK RICK Exactly what I thought, i am 5.10” and mine is 42” however i only weight like 142 so idk if i should drop to 40”.....I am not very good at keeping steady waive rides with it and idk if its because is too big for me? Any ideas?
The easiest way to tell the right size is it should come up to your piko (navel). Also double stringer is good if you are a regular surfer. I just bought a Manta double stringer fish tail ($210.00) I am trying a new board. Word of warning do not leave your board in your car or it will warp- thats what happened to my custom x:(
Good video ..explained my board and the difference between them ... generally just go out and have fun guys , your still beating someone who’s farting on the couch
probably not, looks like they just use it the catch bigger waves, ive caught waves on shitty bodyboards and skimboards without them, oh and dont try to catch a wave on a skim board painfull lesson in plowing the the bottom of the ocean lol.
I picked up a bodyboard for $2.50, no fins or arm rope needed, tricks pulled so far:- Stack, spin and 180's fuck yeah.(not a trick but what i'm thinking when I pull a manouvre)
@gummybearninja1000 i respect that your a girl and you ride and stuff, but lbi never barrels haha maybe if theres a tropical or something maybe it will barrel for a couple hours if you get lucky but lbi doesnt really ever barrel
I already know everything this guy is talking about but I continue to watch the video because his voice is Godly. It's like listening to Morgan Freeeman, except Australian and white.
I have a morley big kahuna with a bat tail 50:50 rails and I single stringer oh and I bought a fin to go on it to when I'm bodyboarding all the hardcore guys look at me like oh it's only a girl but I change their minds when i find a big wave and ride a tube! ( I live on long beach island in NJ so you have to go out pretty far to ride the tubes )
HEY! so im about 175cm and about 99 kilos :( and i just brought my first ever bodyboard (NMD BOARD CO) which is about 39 inches, :( also im 13, and would be wicked if someone can tell me if i should ever surf :) thanks
