Didn't work for my bead. Tried it several ways but basically the same idea and the tire bead will not break. Tried to saw the tire off and still can't get it off. Tried the 4x4 and truck method, running over the bead with my truck, nothing works. Mine looked like it was off but when I let off the jack, the air went back into the tire and no broken bead. Still looking for a way to do it.

I have ran into a few of those, and those were glued on by certain tire shops, and the only way I have found to get those off of the bead is to take it in to the machine that takes the tire off.

Does the jack cradle leave any marks on the sidewall? I do see you are using it on the side not seen. I'm just trying to break the bead enough to replace a valve stem. So I'm wanting to just jack it once, pretty side down, at the valve stem. But if you think the cradle will mark up the sidewall, I'll spend the time to break the whole bead.

Pretty sure a jack and some adjustable straps are more than the little to no tools I have

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I consider little means usually people have these tools handy in the garage and That would mean you wouldn’t have to buy any tools and using a little bit of tools I consider two tools a jack and ratchet straps a minimum amount of tools. 🤔

You forget to mention over all the explanation you do. You forget to tell the people that you have to keep that strap flat as you show in the video. the same way so that it’s not twisting up and making it difficult to strap properly in order to get an even approach to the whole bead breaking process. Very genius idea.
@Mr_Goody
@Mr_Goody 4 года назад
Yes thank you for that, yes the strap has to be flat like in the video. 👍

It worked! I needed to replace TPMS sensors on low profile tires; 205/55R16, so I put a 2x2x18" board under the ratchet straps on top of the tire. The jack and straps pushed the board under the bead to make the job a lot easier. Thanks for the great DIY bead breaker trick!

Seems kinda hard on the tire... any broken belts doing this
@Mr_Goody
@Mr_Goody 3 года назад
No no broken belts so far I’ve been doing this for years but this is just a way if you don’t have any other way of taking it off.

@@Mr_Goody cool, watched your video earlier seen how you n other people figured out how to break the bead.. I ended up making a square/ press kinda thing out of 4x4 post , using bottle jack n block of wood to knock the bead off rim.
@ShaunPaget
@ShaunPaget 3 года назад
A new way to get the job done is good to know but I use a 2x4 and a 3lbs hammer. A few whacks and the bead is off.

There’s many ways you are correct whatever works for each person ✌️👍

I'm going to give that a try. Looks a little easier than the way I've been doing it with a bottle jack against the truck trailer hitch because that requires shimming the bottle jack and making 2 or 3 goes at it. Thanks!

I did pretty much this same procedure 2 years back and yes it works.....another easy type is to have 5' or more foot 4x4 and place one end at the edge of tire and rim and at the other end have an angled cut like a small ramp...simply drive slowly on it and it will cause the other end to press down on the tire to break the bead....2 minute process
@Mr_Goody
@Mr_Goody 2 года назад
Yes that’s another way 👍

at 2:12 doesnt it show the bead is already broken?
@Mr_Goody

I’m glad you asked that because at this particular day of filming I had a little bit of difficulty with my camera equipment and I missed the first bead but not the second one so this method works entirely 100% and I show you exactly to a T how to get it to work so if you follow what I’m doing in the video it will 100% work for you.

And also noticed that at the end when it cuts to the final camera angle the valve stem has rotated counter clockwise about 30degrees

As I stated above this method absolutely works I had a little trouble filming that day and I had already busted the bead on one side and was doing it on another so any inconsistencies is because it wasn’t filmed in the exact order but I promise this method works as I used it to bust a bead on the other side and then I used to bust a bead on the opposite side it is a very good method.

I work at tyres and would not Fancy, this method assuming, I had limited tools, my reason being that serous forces are hidden when the ratchet strap is tensioned. I favour getting a small piece angle iron, say about 2” long, and a sledgehammer. [ 1 ] Remove the valve core. [ 2 ] pore some soapy water if available around the bead. [ 3] place your small piece angle iron tight against the bead. [4] carefully strike a hammer blow on the angle iron. [5] reposition the angle iron, and repeat the process, a couple blows and the bead will be broken. Done correctly I have never failed to break truck or tractor tyres with this method, and always keep a small piece of angle iron on the van, should a proper bead breaking tool be not available.

You don't need ratchet strap. Use the weight of your feet. If your scraping the wheel it doesn't matter. You can also use pair wire cutters cut rubber valve stem. Removal tool is nice to have in toolbox. If wheel being scraped and you don't spend lil xtra money on removal tool. Pressing tire down with your foot using pry bar will just as good, too. Takes same amount of time too if not quicker break the bead.

There’s about 10 different ways to do this this is just a way I thought I would show people but your way will work too. Thank you for your feedback. ✌️👍
