Watched this video when it first dropped, Bought my 2005 24' CC Sea Pro Bay Boat in need of a re power earlier this summer and just this week, Took it to Chris @ On Site in Ruskin, he seems awesome, straight forward, knowledgeable and fair. Boat is there now for a new White 250 and a Bobs Action jack plate combo, probably be done next week and I get to do the break-in between Christmas and New Years. Living in Bradenton Ruskin was a short drive and worth it !! Enjoy your videos and good be able to patronize someone you deal with locally.
Kudos to Chris for taking 5 hours out of his day for breaking in that engine, most outboard shops would have you do it on your own time. Also I would look into that spray coming off the powerpole spraying onto the motor.
Hey Josh. That first three hours had to seem sooo long..lol. I know you, you were ready to just go.. But gotta do things the way you have to go just to expensive not too. Great video Josh and thanks for sharing.. Always your friend, fan, and subscriber..
Hi Josh, HEY ~ nice wrap on your steering wheel. So sorry to hear how Boring breaking in a motor can be. I mean out in a boat All day does seem like a real drag! lol Now your all done and ready to go. Hope you will be happy with the new Power Plant. BTW, RU-vid is up to not sending out notifications when your videos drop. (At least for me. I missed this one and the previous one.) Take Care my friends. Stay Well and God Bless ✝
@50 Shades Of Blue 42mph nice!! What kind of boat? I'm in the process of repowering with a 200ap. Coming from a mercury 200hp 2stroke worried I'm going to lose some mph but excited. I have been wanting a 4stroke for a long time now.
@@Honda1k I’m running it on a Sea Pro SV2100. It’s a pretty light boat and max at about 49mph. Super quite engine. I let it sit for six months once and it didn’t skip a beat and fired right up. I’m always on other boats so I don’t always get to use mine
Thanks for creating this video. If someone doesn't have enough time to do the run-in after 3000rpm, say, and then comes back another day to do the 4000rpm, should they go through the 15min idle also? How long is it recommended to warm up an engine (eg 140hp) before driving off, normally? Thanks again
Do i need to change oil after the first 20 hours? And how do i know i’ve reached 20 hours if i have the regular rpm gauge and not the digital one? Will the oil light turn on? Thanks!
This winter at the MN boat show, I decided to re-power my boat with a 140HP Suzuki. Traded in my 150HP Johnson 2 stroke. I have not had it on the water yet (next week hopefully 10 Apr 24) Have to do the break-in. Can't wait to get it wet!
@@smiley3303 I did mine in April on the St Croix and Mississippi river. you can go a long way at a constant speed. Of course this was before the floods.
what oil did you use for the break in? Book says ecstar 10w30/10w40 or equivalent. Been doing a little poking around and 90% of marinas, suzuki outboard mechanics..ect say to use 100% conventional for break in.
Hey Josh I have a new Suzuki 140 my question is do I have to run at those rpms the whole time or just not to exceed those rpms? Just wondering if hit no wakes can I go from 3000 to idle for a while then back to 3000?
*Josh... I didn't see the "in" part of break in when I saw the title header... So, the first thing I thought was that this was going to be a Chris-cuss-out-in-up--down-sideways...The Header really does change if you remove or you don't see the "in" part of it* ..gw
“ How to break in a new motor !” Load boat with enough provisions for four days , fill up gas tank ! And take extra gas , take plenty of bait and ice, drive to choice locations and cast repeatedly till arm wants to fall off , return to port load boat , and clean mass amounts of fish , oh and explain to you wife and kids why your smiling all the time ! 👍🏼😁
It doesn’t have to be continuous, ideally if you have the time or the location to make a run that long continuous would be best, but smaller lakes that’s just not possible. I think as long as you go the recommended hours at the recommended RPM it could be achieved in multiple trips. Just keep a log and follow it to a T, those computers under the cowling know exactly what RPM ranges are ran and for how long, if not broken in properly Suzuki could push back on a warranty claim, Good luck
I was only able to get into the 1.45 hours at 3K R/PM and had to pack up for the day. Can I finish my last stage of 4K R/PM in the morning like I had planned?
@@Saltyscales just wanted to make sure, I did not see in the manual that it can or can’t be done this way. Do you think I got enough reduced throttle in the first procedure?
I just got my brand new boat today. Its a 2022 so its a leftover. The dealer said he took it out the day before I showed up to get it. He said he ran it a bit and got it up on plane and maxed out the rpms for a minute. He didnt say anything about breaking it in or letting it idle first. Is this going to void my warranty? Should i be concerned or should i just go through the break in process? Thank you in advance
Just bought a Suzuki. I have a question if you don’t mind. Do you have to drive for one hour and forty five minutes at 3000 RPM continuously or can you do it in stages?
@@Saltyscales good to hear i had issues with setup on my outboard had to move it up to get rid of spray. So i know the struggle of setting the boat up lol
