Have YOUR KEYS been STOLEN, lost,....need to get into YOUR vault?... DISCLAIMER.... This video is meant to help OWNERS regain the use of their equipment in case of lost keys. How to retrieve your money.
Thanks for your response, I watched the video however the video showed how to open the cabinet with the key and I don't have the key. I need to open the top lid because I want to change the price on the mechanism. I will try to dril it, thanks again for your response
Like I did in that video, use a center punch to indent the center of that lock then drill it out. You will drill down anout 1 inch and that will take out the little armmechnisim that locks down the lid. Pretty easy with sharp drill bit . Good luck.
My Greenwald UGH-800 boxes that utilize the flat style key were just broken into on 3 week old machines. I didn';t even have the first chance to empty them! They hit 8 machines and who knows how much they got, but I assume quite a bit!. We just took 1 new box to try an experiment on, so we installed the box and then ran a fair size flat head screw-driver into the lock key-way, tapped a few times with a hammer to set the screwdriver then with a pair of vice grips locked on the shaft of the screw drive I just twisted it clockwise and it opened. What a piece of garbage from Greenwald and they have to know this! I have found the best coin box locks to be the barrel style and I am now looking around to find the barrel style locks that I can install into these brand new boxes I bought (machines came with the Greenwald flat key style coin box and I had no choice of lock style). Buyer we aware . . .
We would average $110- $120 in each box, sorry to hear about your loss. Sounds like you need some sort of security system, maybe cameras? IDK if that helps anymore as the fuzz says they cant do anything even whit video. I was told the officer would had to have seen it with his own 2 eyes .. BS! Thanks for your input and good luck with your Machines.
This is exactly right! We have 3 machines with the flat key, and 4 with the round, half-moon style key. Someone broke in last week and it looks like they did exactly what you say...no sign of drilling, just brute force with a screwdriver. The machines with the half-round key were left alone.
I want to know if the machine still works if the coin box is opened like this. I have one of these at my house that my mom wants to use but doesn't want to give it quarters because we lost the key. It's either use what we have or buy a new one. Please tell me.
I've seen people attempt this too many times to count. For the mental midgets who can't get this to work you may want to look for the Greenwald stamp on the vault. I personally have never seen one on the thousands of machines I've serviced.
Thank you for this video! I'm in the exact same position (our keys got stolen). We don't want to put in coins any longer since it is a personal machine. Quick question- after drilling out the coin box, would it be possible to NOT install a new coin box and just use the washer as is? Would the coins drop into the empty part (where the box used to be) if we insert coins into the slots and push it in to start as normal?
You need to take off the top cover(keyed) and manually turn the timer that the coin mech uses, I did my own laundry in this machine using this technique for years with no problems.
Only foolproof way to get into it is to use a Dremel with cutting wheel to remove outer shroud and the inner lock tumbler. Takes about 45-60 minutes and uses about 10-12 cutting wheels - maybe $10 worth of wheels.
We've recently lost the keys to 2 of our coin op dryers. They have cylinder locks instead of regular key locks. We've gotten past the drilling part but can't seem to get the box to release. Any tips?
so we figured it out. the first one we ended up drilling too much of the lock out which bent the plate in the back that releases the pins. ended up having to dremel the heads off of the corner bolts and then drilling them out to have the heads pop off. since it's a cylinder key there's a slightly smaller hole above a larger hole (like a pear shaped hole). the second dryer we ended up rounding out the top hole to make it large enough to get a bit on the center of the cylinder key slot. started drilling with a bit the side of the inner key circle and literally 2 minutes later the box just popped out. takes patience but better than calling a locksmith wanted to charge us $300+ to get into it and was going to damage the box anyways. good luck!
I have some newer machines but the lock system looks like yous. mine says ESD on mine?? what is the part number on yours so i can order it to see if it would work for me if you dont mind
Yes and no. The lock mechanism on the cabinet is mostly the same so here is a link on that video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nnPtkvnoNyY.html Just follow those instructions and you should be fine. Plz let us know how it turns out. Cheers.
So does it fuck the washer or dryer completely...we currently have these same ones in our building and our tenant has just showed me today that you no longer need coins to turn the dryer on...he just pushed it in and hit start...we now have lost these keys when the place was bought so will drilling into the box make make the dryer no longer usable? Coins were getting jammed for ever so ..
No, the coin box is separate from the coin tray. My coin tray jammed up because the coin box was overfilled. Your coin tray/ mech (I forgot the proper term) should be cleaned and lightly oiled every few years or so to function smoothly. IMO.
did you find answer to your question because I bought 2 surplus washers and 2 dryers, and was super cheap because they didn't have the keys. kinda need to get into them now because I can't fit any more quarters in there
Hi, Im thinking your bit is for steel. What size of a bit? 1/4 "??? It would have been so much easier if I just made a note of the key code on the key... Live and learn the hard way. :) I do have to say...."lock only keep honest people out."
+BernalesTV It has to work. If the drill bit pushed through ( went in all the way) then you drilled the lock out. The lock cam may need to be turned to release the coin box. Take the flat blade scred driver, stick in the hole and turn and pull on the box at the same time. if your #3 driver wont fit try a #2. If the drill bit didnt go through...keep drilling
+Justin Kvols No the top has nothing to do with the coin box. I have another video on how to open the tubular lock, check that out. And thanks for watching. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-h0q2EvZeISk.html
I have used very long and pointed needle nose pliers to get out broken objects. Maybe try something like these to get your broken bit out.. www.homedepot.com/p/KNIPEX-6-in-Long-Nose-Pliers-31-11-160/205333646?MERCH=REC-_-pipsem-_-302552195-_-205333646-_-N
This wasn't as easy as it looks. Seems a 5/16 bit is too big even after widening the slot. I have been trying a 3/16-which does fit but I've broken a few bits already!
+m green Try a good Bit. ( no harbor freight junk ) oh and don't use an impact drill. let the drill bit and drill do the work. Try not pushing hard on the drill and us e 1/2 the drill speed. Good Luck
I've drilled mine as my keys lost and it won't come out , it won't break the back it's made a hole but no joy , what have I done wrong it is a green Walt ultra lock is that the same as your machine , I've lost 6 keys and need to empty my machines asap
+Chelsea Deyes Just keep drilling until the bit goes all the way through(you need SHARP bits). Then use a very wide blade standard screwdriver to stick in the hole and turn clockwise, to turn the cam lock, then pull out the coin Box. If its as you say the same as mine, you will get it open with this technique
+breakerbroke23 it's definitely. The same I think. It's not sharp enough I'll let you no I'll take video and send you can it be a different lock on the coin box ..
yes, you can dip the bit in a cap full of oil and try again. Also dont drill at the drills fastest speed either. try 1/2 speed. But sharp bits are key.
+breakerbroke23 thank you so much I've managed to do it I didn't give up I nearly did it took 10 seconds and a hard push for my second one . My first I'd done the drilling part just needed the last part your video is great for people like me who lost keys . Now I'm baffled I've got fronts that are esd flat and I can get my drill bit in or nothing gonna need a lock smith I think I've looked every were for advice I don't want to drill the lock if the lock can't be done and it costs me more calling a lock smith out half done can you suggest ,
Thanks, the owners bought this building at Auction...no keys of course, so I spent about 2 hours, burnt out 8 drill bits and finally chiseled off the heads with a numismatic air chisel. Whew.... 11 more machines to go if the keys are different. I am betting, hoping, that they are the same key. I guess if someone wants to get in, you can't keep them out.
@breakerbroke23 Hi. We have a pair of these we own ( came with the house) and we've been putting money in them and now they are full and we cant do any more washes. Can we use your method to open up the money slot and continue using the machine as is ? Or when you break the lock the machine will no longer function ? Any Idea ?
the machine will still function. All you need to do is follow the video and drill out the lock, but you must swedge that hole to be larger or your drill will do no good.
Thanks, I walked into my laundry room at one of my rentals and saw that someone tried to do this. Need to install cameras or remove the washer and dryer if this happens again.
Lucky this is only thing they tried as when they try to get coins any other way (smashing the whole coin op assembly) it is very much more costly. Been there!
@@breakerbroke23 Not sure why they go through all the trouble just for a few quarters. they can earn more money selling weed or stealing from their own parents.
breakerbroke23 I was just whining. I hid wireless motion detectors in the laundry rooms and caught the thief in the act. Had to pepper spray him. Installing new security locks and self closing hinges as well. Now if the government would give me a permit for death ray lasers... Ha!
+Sunny Jim Well Iam glad you gave the slime bag "red eye", I hope da man makes him pay restitution. Better be careful on the lasers, you have way more to loose that that scum bag. Good luck and thanks for commenting...BB23
I just did this and it works! You have to PUSH the drill into there really, really hard. I had to lean all of my body weight into it. You are drilling into metal after all. Took out $220!
I am toying with the idea of buying a coin operated business such as a laundromat or DIY car wash. I would be very grateful if I could get some insight into the business from people who are or were in the business. Thank You
I ran a Car Wash back in the early 80s. Good profits, just keep it clean. Laundromat? very good profit, just keep up on maintenance. AND learn how to service your own units. That is a must.. Good luck
Thanks BB I appreciate the info but I am looking for more detailed information. Are you still running a laundromat? What are the most challenging aspects of the business? Do you lease a store front or own a free standing building? Did you start from scratch or did you buy an existing business? Do you have any employees on site? Are you open 24/7? I am a retired accountant and I need extra income . I live in the suburbs of a large city. There are a few laundromats in the area but I don't quite understand who their customers are. Because all we have is single family homes and apartment complexes. Most homes have a clothes washer and dryer. If you can't afford to buy one new there tons of them for free on CL. The apartment complexes are relatively young and have their own laundry facility or the connections in the apartment itself. Thank You
@@breakerbroke23 I am assuming you turned the lock by means of a screw driver after drilling? As I see the coin boxes it dont matter if full of coins, the 4 locking plates are unhindered by the coins
+Omar Woodberry The large tip standard screwdriver is a bit over 1/2' wide. My Snap on set is quite old i think the driver is a sdd8. but this one will work as well store.snapon.com/Standard-Soft-Handle-chrome-Screwdriver-Flat-Instinct-153-Soft-Handle-Orange-055--P648879.aspx Not sayn you need a spendy screwdriver, harbor freight may have somethis of this size. Rule of thumb.... get the BIGGEST ASS SCREWDRIVER you can find. And dont forget GOOD quality SHARP bits as well
something else to consider is if your worried that folks may do this to your vending machines, use a stronger lock(they make medeco, abloy, etc locks to fit these) and well....i hope you have a LOT of drill bits for those locks to do this. Also keep in mind that this also cuts down severely on folks just having a key made and dumping the profits away from you.
You can not just get a Key made, There are no manufacturer names or key code numbers stamped anywhere on these coin boxes. The key code numbers are inside the "locked" Box. BTW... I have drilled out a Medeco Lock before, I had to get into a Change Machine when I bought my Apartments. Not hard to do.
I DID THIS DID NOT WORK BURNT UP LIKE 6 DRILL BITS IT WAS ALOT EASY TO HEAT IT UP WITH A TOURCH YOU BUY AT HOMEDEPOT BEND IT BACK AND YOU WILL SEE THE HOLE LOCK CRAB IT WITH A SMALL PAIR OF PLIERS AND TURN IT SNAP YOUR IN I HAD 6 TO DO AFTER 1ST HAD TO CHANGE THE MEDICO LOCKS ARE THE HARDEST I PUT MY NEW LOCKS IN
These type of machines should be illegal. Mine ate my money and wont give it back. I can’t find any way to break into it either without destroying it. Fucking stupid design.
This isn't always as easy. In the industry when you have to drill these out, it's usually because someone vandalized them in the first place. Additionally, the vandals usually break bits off inside the locks and so drilling through a drill bit is pretty shit. If you drill to fast you can melt that brass and make it hard to unlock make sure to take your time. For the older style ones like this you can sometimes hammer a flathead into the lock and twist it with a good wrench. For the newer style medico's though this is exactly what we do. An alternative is two carbide hole saws, one to saw off the outer cover/dome thing, then another perfectly around the lock itself.
The Code number for the correct key is on a sticker........In the coin box :( My best advice is next time you open your coin box jot down the code and store it in a safe place, you may need to order a replacement key. Cheers EDIT..... You can buy the keys on ebay
The problem we have in our building is that the coin boxes are full, we call the number on the machines, and the people at the washer company want nothing to do with us, claim the machines aren't theirs. So the drill solution looks to be best....cheaper than having those two big washers and dryers hauled off.
The Keys are numbered, the Key number is on a tag inside the coin box. I have said this 100 times, but. I should have written the Key numbers down inside of the paperwork that came with the appliances. Oh well live and learn
This video has been re-uploaded (stolen) two times that I know of. Then YT took both of these helpful videos down and threatened to close this channel. I fought whit YT for 6 weeks to finally get it back up. I also re posted this video on another one of my channels just in case YT effs whit me again. YT's AI sucks.
Bee Ess Apparently your free college didn't teach you how to read. Its for people that own these machines and aren't able to get into it. Think before you post 😘
It seems as though you had good intentions, but you effectively showed everyone how to defeat the lock. Most are likely not machine owners. Please pull the video.
Debbie, don't be a moron. There's nothing new about drilling out locks. breakerbroke23 showed everyone how not to get ripped off by locksmiths, that's all!
@@claystore $4 per wash/dry is a complete joke. it's gonna cost $50-100 a month to do laundry and i have to go out of my way to now get quarters when it was free for the past 3 years with the previous owner with no issues. greed is ruining this country.
@@ArcYT2 things... 1. The landlord runs a business. We don't know what their costs are. They can charge whatever they want as any business can. If they charge too much, they will loose business. You can choose to patronize or not. You DO have a choice! 2- Where I live (Vancouver, BC), if rent includes free laundry, the landlord can't decide to start charging preexisting tenants for it. This would be considerd breaking a material term of the contract. If they start charging for it, they must also reduce the rent to compensate the tenant. If this has happened to you, you need to contact you housing authority to see what the law in your area says.
