Allergist Jonathan Bayuk, MD, ACAAI member, discusses the importance of deep breathing and getting up and moving if you have a respiratory infection like COVID-19.
It's 8mths later,I had phizer recently so far I'm fine.i have had some bad flus,I hope your well now,est fruits fresh vegs, fresh water, exercise blow out the bugs.
The virus/COVID-19 only exists for those who completely shut down any thinking and leave it all to the LIES that brainwashes them!! NOTE: A PANDEMIC IS WHEN DEAD BODY'S ARE ABSOLUTELY EVERYWHERE AND THE CARNAGE IS OVERWHELMING AND UNCONTROLLABLE WITH MOUNTAINS OF DEAD BODYS PILING UP IN FRONT OF OUR VERY OWN EYES!! YOU KNOW... A P A N D E M I C!!! The ONLY 'Pandemic' I see is the ABSOLUTE BRAINDEAD MASSES WHO HAVE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN ANY ABILITY CALCULATE AND THINK FOR THEMSELVES!!!!
Why I didn't get vaccinated. I had covid-19 back in Dec 2019, before the outbreak. A lot of people had it, but doctors had the instruction to not provide any prescription for it, because they didn't know what it was. With time we confirmed the outbreak, we found out older people living in residences were the most vulnerable folks, but kids were okay. So at the very beginning, I ask myself, what people produce less with time. This is were I've noticed what elders & handicaps had in common, "inactivity". If you don't move much, you lose muscle mass, if you lose muscle mass, there's less muscle cells to produce ATP by ADP. So elder folks cells has less energy than cells from active individuals. Then I've search for an over the counter molecule which can help increasing the ATP synthesis. Then, I found in the Vitamin B complex, the NAD+, which is a Nicotinamide part of the vitamin B3. I was already good in breaking any flu symptoms by consuming Zinc with vitamin D3, right at the first symptoms of flu. But with this pandemic, to be asymptomatic and to have fast relief, elder folks should take a one daily dosage of Vit B3 per week, and take one dosage of Zinc & D3 at the first flu signs and another dosage of *Zinc+B3+D3* in a cycle of 12 hours. But for general active folks, a daily dosage of Zinc B3 D3 at the first flu signs with one secondary dosage after 12 hours, just to guarantee full relief. Since I put my entire family on it, none of us got sick nor need vaccination, which is why I won't take it even if it's mandatory. Because it's impossible science doesn't know we can make it with over the counter supplements and minerals. So what's the real agenda? Look, Dr. Charles Brenner commercialized their own version of vitamin B3. His team was right to claim their molecule could help reduce the severity of this virus. However, his company was blocked by the FDA for violation of FD&C Act and the FTC Act.
@@blackberry8924 I've been taking 50mg of zinc, 10,000iu D3 with K3, whole food natural C, whole food B complex, high quality tumeric, low histamine probiotic daily. I'm positive that I got covid late last year, even with wearing a silly mask and social distancing/washing hands, etc. I had very odd symptoms that lasted less than 48 hours. Later on the symptoms I had were attributed to the long list. My father had the same symptoms around the same time, we were together for Thanksgiving. I'm not going to be wearing a mask anymore either. I develop sinus issues especially into the back of my throat and a heaviness in my lungs no matter the material the mask is made out and brand new or washed with baking soda vinegar and dried/disinfected in the sun on the clothes line. Every single time it happened. Cotton, polyester. The cheap ones they hand out I could 100% feel the small fibers of the mask in my mouth and lips. No way that's not making it's way into my lungs. Luckily I live on the Ill/Iowa border and can do all my shopping in Iowa where there are no mask mandates and I can stay away from folks and wash my hands as often as I feel I need to. Without touching my face or my phone or anything else that would expose myself. I'm also not watching the news and living in constant dread and fear.
@Sean One daily dosage of Zinc + Vit B3 + Vit D3 at the first signs of flu, and another dosage after 12 hours should gives you an asymptomatic full relief with natural immunity protection against this virus. If you're unvaccinated, this is how you stay protected. And if you can't find Vitamin B3 500mg in your area, ask for Nicotinamide, NAD+ or TruNiagen, it's all the same molecule. To be taken with Zinc + D3. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_G1VnDmvpOU.html
Thank you Doctor - That's sounds like great advise. My grandfather used to say : If you are sick, you have to get up and keep moving to get it out of you.
I am a professional breather I've been doin it all my life. Honestly, im 74 and well. When i was around 18 i was a Navy Deep Sea diver and the doctors lung exercise was how we built up our lung capacity, its actually is good for anybody anytime.
Not gonna lie. I laughed at "professional breather". I get what you meant but it was just phrased in a very George Carlin humor sort of way. And thank you for serving.
I saw "professional breather" and thought "tuba player" like I am. Yup, this doc's recommended exercise is like part of a whole breathing routine that many of us use (look for "Breathing Gym").
I did the cough after 5 breaths and finally heard my voice better, phlegm cleared up and my cough reduced. Immediately stood up and started walking. Thanks doc 👍🏾
@@Shinaazlg yes! I also remembered hearing as a kid, running in place helps with breaking down mucus. But please don't if you're lightheaded or feverish lol it's only for the throat.
My lungs started feeling really bad around day 6 of having Covid so I panicked and fortunately found this video. Next day after doing what you said I felt better and the lung infection was gone 2 days later. I do believe you helped me. Thank you.
@@lh98 Don't be fooled. The priests, pastors, and cardinals are the elite controllers of these meek believing and loving people. You should attack them, not the oppressed.
This actually helped me I'm on day 8 with covid and the first two deep breaths hurt but after some time it didn't hurt anymore and my anxiety went down.
Yep, grew up with Histoplasmosis of the lungs. Every breath was a struggle, for years. My parents taught me to calmly, deliberately breathe deep. Breathe in 4 counts, hold 2 counts, out 8 counts. Keep moving, open your chest cavity, be calm, be deliberate. You can do this. Stay safe. You matter, you really do.
I have had to deal with histoplasmosis, too. Not only did it scar my lungs badly, but I have had some weird visual experiences from it also. Bad stuff!
Yeah yeah. My bestie from way young, she had terrible asthma. Always was hard to watch her breathe; to even try. Then inhaler was so necessary. Never had I seen one before. Was a shock/surprise. To realize little thingy saved her life hundreds of times, was and still is amazing to me.

I had covid end of August to September 2021. I was doubtful when I did this exercise, since it felt like it became harder to breathe. I'm happy I saw it through, this really helped me to the road to recovery. Bless this man for sharing his knowledge 🙏

I'm on day 6 of my symptoms... & I just realized yesterday, day 5... That it was much better to walk around the house or outside instead of lounging all day. I'm continuing doing yard work & working on my cars & I feel so much better. You don't have to lock yourself in a room. Go do something! Just isolate yourself from others... but stay busy!
A pulmonologist told me 3 years ago who treated my friend who passed away she said always take a deep breath every hour it helps open and strengthen your lungs and this was in 2017!
Yes I followed this exercise and I feel so much better I don't have covid-19 but I have asthma I did exactly what you said and all the phlegm came up thank you so much God bless you

When i was about 12, 45 years ago, I had deep seated double pneumonia. I was holidaying with my grandmother, who didn't drive, and after a week of illness we walked, yes walked to see her old doctor, who my grandmother swore by. I swear this doc was about 90. Gran said she never got sick because this doc was so good. He had treated Spanish Flu as a young doctor, as well as every other disease we no longer have, like Polio etc. He gave me antibiotics but he said I had to get up the gunk, or I'd end up in hospital . I had to take a cough expectorant, and VICKS chest rub, breathe exactly like the doctor above said, as well as get up and walk and bend and breathe deeply with my arms stretched above. Then lie face down on my bed with my head over the side and a bucket under me, take a deep breathe, and cough... It sounds disgusting, (which it was) it was exhausting and painful, but boy, did it ever get the hard brown gunk out of my lungs. It was probably the technique they used before antibiotics were discovered.
Yes, daughter got RSV at 8 weeks old, then developed asthma afterwards. Whenever she would get sick her pediatricians had me turn her over my knees periodically and cup my hands over her lower lungs and pat her on her back for several minutes. It helped her cough stuff up, helping to prevent infection and aid breathing.
@@todosassd1855 That's the physio for congested lungs. Ever since my childhood I've had weakened lungs. Not serious asthma but when I get a bad cold/flu it goes straight there. I hope your daughter gets her asthma under control eventually. My brother was a terrible asthmatic but then he took up playing the trumpet when he was a cadet, and it cleared his asthma right up because he built up his lungs.💕
I’m a physician. Another very helpful technique to use that asthma patients are taught is to use purse lip breathing. Take a deep breath through your nose, pause for 2 seconds and exhale slowly through your mouth for ten seconds. Over and over. However, as you exhale purse your lips to allow only a small opening for the air to exit your mouth. While doing this, allow your cheeks to puff out with the air pressure. This slows the exhalation and exerts a back hydraulic pressure on the column of air, preventing the small airways in your lungs and bronchial tree from collapsing. Bernoulli's Principle is a law of thermodynamics that more or less states that the pressure of gas moving through a tube is inversely related to the speed of that movement. In other words, breathing out hard and fast can generate negative pressure inside the airway, causing a collapse of the small airways. The purse lip technique provides a back positive pressure to counteract that collapse and the slow exhalation does the same thing. Bernoulli's Principle is the reason why the wings of an aircraft provide lift.
Life-long asthma patient here. The pursed-lip breathing technique accurately described is something I've done all my life, it really works to help aid breathing. Excellent explanation!
I’ve been asked to give more info. In addition to mechanically improving your oxygenation doing this for 10 to 20 minutes at a time is a wonderful type of stress relief. The more reps you do the better is the relief of stress. . . up to a point. . I teach my patients to close their eyes wi each exhale and allow their mind to imagine they are gently blowing out their stress. Try to visualize stress as if it were smoke. Imagine seeing it being expelled. This is a form of meditation. Twice daily is optimum. Thanks
Stuck N. Derplahoma That’s a great positive piece of advice. Thank you! Cough and deep breathing, postural drainage and other proactive measures can be tremendously impactful. Thank you 🙏
Sadhguru already has videos on this from a while ago, in Yoga they do a lot of breathing exercises to stimulate the lungs. I thought it was silly, now I'm seeing doctors recommend similar exercises.
what helped me when I had Covid and it was hard to breathe - I went outside. it was November so the air was cool. I slept with all of the windows open. I slept with the hat and extra layers on. I can tell you it made a huge difference in my ability to breathe - just by stepping outside.
Yes, thank you doctor. As a nurse I do that with all my patients and educate them on the importance of deep breathing exercises, including use of incentive spirometers.

I started doing the deep breaths right when covid started. I caught covid in February. Never did it get into my lungs (just body aches, headache, no smell/taste).
I got contaminated by the covid 19. I got some serious breathing difficulties 6 days after the first symptoms (fever). At this stage I started to get very agitated and was starting to consider calling for emergency. Then I remembered I have a breathing yoga application on my phone with different programs. I sat on a chair and did it for about 15 minutes. I am now out of danger and I believe following this technic has helped me a lot. I would recommand to anyone to start practicing before they could potentiallly get infected. If you feel any breathing distress don't panic, don't get agitated, find a posture that feels comfortable, remain still and practice controled breathing. In doubt, call for health services. Take care. Greetings from France.

Thanks Dr. this is exactly what we need- my husband n I , 84 n 78- finds this very very helpful. Grateful thanks n May God bless ye n keep you safe..from UK.
Thank you. I used your breathing techniques and so did my Co Worker to recover from Covid . I recovered in August .That and I walked around the house basically kept my body moving up to a point. Deep Breath’s caused coughing but I did it anyway. It took 4 days then I started seeing progress. Anxiety will make it worse so I tricked my mind and kept a positive attitude .
This is GREAT information!! It works. As a surviving patient of H1N1, with double pneumonia, MRSA and asthma these techniques saved me from being intubated. THANKS for sharing doc👍🏼
I have same problem bro.. Most pf the time when i go for sleep than the breathless attack me!! I'm very afraid of this situation. What can i do for released from this problem?
I myself have not seen anything remotely like this online & nothing has shown up in my RU-vid feed. This should be the very first thing playing on my RU-vid feed every damn day. I actually feel angry right now that people aren’t seeing this on TV & all over. This could save many lives!! And I see I’m not alone. Thank you so much Dr. for this video! 👍🙏🏻❤️
As a person with asthma, I’ve found doing things like this help, even with a simple cold. I’ve learned I recover better if I don’t even lay down when I’m sleeping. I find ways to prop myself up to sleep sitting up. I also find that taking deep breaths, similar to how is described here, helps to keep my lungs clear. I didn’t know about the deep cough, and I don’t really understand that yet, so I’m going to watch again. Thank you for sharing this! These are great reminders.
Thank you for saying that. I also suffer from asthma and its so nice to hear someone with asthma talk about what works for them. You are helping so many and encouraging others. Thank you❤ Bless you🙏
Fellow asthmatic here..I purchased a brand new bed just before this covid19 came around that is adjustable by remote control to elevate the mattress. As not to lay flat and breathe easier. Also having a humidifier helps also.
Fellow asthmatic. A trick I learned about dealing with an asthma attack when I didn't have any inhaler is to keep your shoulders down and relaxed. It makes quite a difference.
Another asthmatic here, and it’s allergic asthma AND I have severe allergies. Pollen, several types of trees, grasses, mold etc. it really is miserable. I love being outdoors, walking etc. every year around this time I go through an exacerbation period of several days to a week. Unfortunately I’m having to take steroids, WORST timing possible to be on them but nothing else works. Not even my rescue inhaler. So this virus really is terrifying in regards to having asthma. There is a bright side, still a scary thought though, but a lot of studies from around the world are finally coming out with new information. Like yesterday, maybe day before out of Boston of a homeless shelter where it rapidly spread. They tested 397 people, of those, 146 tested positive. The upside ? 145 were asymptomatic and won’t get sick at all. Only 1 required hospitalization. It’s a small number but it’s promising. Much larger scale numbers from other countries are arising. So a HUGE amount of people will be asymptomatic, millions more than we know of right now have been exposed and won’t become ill, meanwhile the people who do experience symptoms, 80% (could be slightly higher or lower) will only experience mild cases. Not downplaying this virus at all. I haven’t even been in a grocery store in over a month. I have help, luckily. If you want daily updates on everything there is to know, I suggest searching Dr. John Campbell (he has a channel right here on RU-vid). He presents a very calming, very educated way to receive information you need. No media, politics. Etc also all of his info is sourced.
The moving around piece is very important, to get you lungs working in a moment of distress; you got to get moving because the body also has a mechanical component to function and with you it’s logical to know that movement gives blood circulation in the body, it helps the heart, it’s so important this is the way oxygen moves. The body needs pressure to transport oxygen so movement is vital.
Thank you so much Dr.Bayuk, for being so thoughtful in sharing this important information with us here! I am using your advice. My goodness,I've been suffering with covid for 9 days now, I've never been this sick in my whole 61 years of life! God Bless you and your beloveds!
Thank you for making this information publicised....I'm a 50 year asthmatic and I practice breathing and coughing, lung expansion etc, getting in a swimming pool, breath holding and swimming underwater... I had a serious case of MRSA (hospital aquired) after back surgery... what you described with my refusal to quit even when I just wanted to lay down and rest ... saved my life. This is a timely reminder. Thank you.
Thank you for the video. When I was in hospital with a bad burst appendix they got me to stay out of bed and as upright as possible, for as long as possible. I had to do these breathing exercises regularly throughout the day as I have asthma, COPD and a segmental collapsed lung. I think this technique should be part of a public health video around the world. I can't believe the general population and certainly at risk people are not been shown this and other good practices. Thanks again.
I remember this video and I did all these things, then I got Covid. I survived but I did use the tips in this video and I think they helped me. The breathing exercises before and the get up and move. I also used an spirometer. Also tons of prayers. 🙏🏼😊

Thank you so much doctor, you don't know how much this means! It brings us comfort to know that there are things that we can do to help facilitate our own rebound from this nasty disease.👍
Man. I got covid and started laying down and then was like “nah, this will prob get worse if I lay down and take it” and I got up and forced myself on the treadmill. Dripped sweat like a mad man but was fine in two days. That’s crazy seeing this after thankfully I just naturally decided to not lay down.
I'm going to translate this into Filipino and share the video with my friends with the hope that they, too, will share this with their friends. Thanks for posting this video.
Extremely useful in it's own right BUT ALSO - for those of us who suffer from Asthma and related problems - a timely reminder to remember to breathe deeply whenever possible. Thank you doctor - much appreciated.
Thank you so much! I have a mild case of covid and I’m having trouble with breathing and it is very uncomfortable when taking breaths. I really want to thank you so much this actually helped and I’m so thankful. 🙏 😊
Been sick for 8 days, getting better and today I started to feel worse. About 45 minutes ago I started feeling like maybe I won't be able to breath. Little nausea, and it felt like panic attack, which i only had it once. No sense of smell made it worse! I felt like I will pass out, all tingly. I got up and started to breathe slowly deeply in, ice pack on my neck. My b/f on standby to call 911. I started to feel better and here I am looking for help. And seeing this technique is actually recommended, made me feel little safer. Thank you all who tries to help us.

My husband is a respiratory therapist for 40 years. He has taught me this, so when I got covid 19 w/lots of other health issues, diabetes and a auto immune disease, I survived COVID 19 with out having to go to the hospital. I did have to go on oxygen for a short time. It's good practice all the time.
Thanks for this, great to hear from someone who knows a thing or two about respiratory illness. Will start practicing now in case this thing hits! Thanks Doc.
I was in ER for 15 days with covid. Theres been a few good breathing technics that really helped. Started off on 40L of o2. It sucked bad. The staff was amazing helping me! Always laying on side or stomach. Couldn't leave ER till on 4L of o2. Today is my 4th day off of oxygen. Still incorporating those technics. It really is no joke.
Many, many thanks! This was short, simple, and helpful. I made it thru Covid without having to go to the ER! As a newly survived cancer patient this was especially serious for me- Easy to understand is especially important when feeling overwhelmed
My husband wants to thank you for the instructions. He's recovering from Covid and still has difficulty breathing deeply. We'll do these exercises to help him improve.
