You can use the water a dehumidifier collects, it’s nice and soft as it’s condensed from the air. I live in an area with really hard water and this is the most convenient method I’ve found.
I just wanted to say that I have always enjoyed the videos you make. I find that you explain things in a way that is easy to understand as well as interesting. Thanks for all the help and advice that you have given me from watching your videos on breeding fish. 👍🏻
Very helpful. I never have a problem getting them to spawn and she cares for the fry until they are decent sized but I have a very busy lifestyle and can’t feed them more than one core twice a day with micro worms so the develop really slowly
I was not expecting these guys to breed in my tank because my water is very hard with a high PH also but they did breed in a tank that was planted and fed BB on a regular bases.
Great video my pair keeps eating their eggs they have plenty of plants and sand substrate, a coconut cave. Maybe I am not feeding enough temp is at 80. Feed frozen blood worms and tubifex worm sometimes pellets.
Incredible Sir. Thank you for sharing. Do they breeding depending on size or age? How early can they start breed and it's easy to identify genders? How long did you condition them? Do they pair up for lifetime or you can force pair them with any of their species?
How can you tell when they're ready to spawn? Like when they're old enough. - I just got a pair a few weeks ago, and I definitely have a male and female but they're both still small
Do you put an air line in the little dish to keep water movement on the eggs, or are you wanting still water? Would think you want something to replicate the mother fanning the eggs...
I find that if they want to breed they will find each other. In my 55 gallon tank they will spawn (but the fry will be eaten by other tankmates) and i have seen people keep and breed multiple types of apistos together in a 12ft tank
You're very selfish in stealing her eggs because "you trust yourself more". Imagine that being applied to you in captivity. You said they're very intelligent fish - so what do you think you're doing to her when you steal her eggs. Yes I guess nature is "red in tooth and claw" - but I wouldn't deliberately traumatize the fish in my care (however temporarily) just to obtain a few more sellable fry.
