I read 20 books and years of trail and error in the late 90s to know this all covert in this 23min video and your Chanel - RU-vid is the greatest wish we had it back in the days. thanks for sharing great Chanel
This is one of the best and most informative videos on breeding discus. Thank you. I am just getting into them and will be buying 8 medium size discus from a reputable breeder and hope to breed them down the line. Thank you for this GREAT video.
Hi.. You need to add methylene blue to the water.. Once they lay the eggs... It helps in avoiding fungus... Hope they are in a separate bare bottom tank?
@@FwrapperAqua iam add methylene bule but eggs start fungus and fish laying eggs on glass now Abi egg glass per se nikal ke tank ke bottom pe Ja ra he he so?
Hi from Pakistan, dear after watching you video I knew the importance of water chemistry for discus breeding tank, so I decided to buy a domestic RO filter which claims it will give 150 gallon of water per day, so now give me an advice it's a good choice to buy the system, because I don't want to buy RO water again and again. And should I also need a TDs measuring device along with RO water purifier?
Hello Sir!! Thanks for a good informative video. I want to know when discus fishes are ready to breed at which size? Please reply it's very important. Thankyou!!
Hello. I have a problem in begining steps of breeding. I'll be approciate if you help me. At first the pair take care of babies carefully until the first two days of free swimming (10 days overall) but, suddenly I don't know what happens! All of them disapears and the parent start to lay new eggs! If they eat their babies why they don't earlier! I don't know exactly what's need to do! I don't want to raise them in a separate tank.
Hi... Some of the Discus pairs are like that.... If they start liking the taste of the babies they will eat them ... If the pair is a new pair and they are not happy with the babies health they will eat them.... Or if they feel scared and not feel safe they will eat them ... These are few that has happened to me while breeding.... So seperate the babies in another Tank and see...
Hi Rahul.Hope you are doing well. I have to discuss pair from same parents. They are in a community tank and they lay eggs. What do you think if I put them in a community tank? Will it success? Please advise. Thanks! Stay safe
Hi... In a community tank its very difficult to get hatches.. Because the other fishes will eat up the eggs.. Even if that dose not happen... Once the eggs hatch the fries will go all over the tank... That time the other fishes might eat them... So very very difficult in a community tank
@@FwrapperAqua Hi I know it. I mean I can put them in to a separate thank . But my concern is they are the children of same parents. Will there be any genetic issues? Please advise
@@FwrapperAqua I have already 1 good spawn from my pair. With a ppm of 154. But I thought if you lower the ppm to much they don't have enough vitamins in the water and they can go sick. What's yours opinion? Thx for the response and keep up the good work! Ps also following you on you're insta now! Greetings from the Netherlands!
Hi Rahul, I'm new to discus keeping, learnt lot from your videos. My question is, in your opinion which discus has more market value ? Pure strains by inbreeding or crossed ones ?
Till the eggs hatch don't do anything... If they feel scared they will eat the eggs... Also see few times if the eggs are catching fungus... Then add Mr blue... If the pair is fertile you don't need Mr. Blue.. The eggs will hatch.. This is just a support for the fishes
Hi nice video . I am a fan of cichlid . Planning to setup discus fish tank . Can u give me a suggestion wt are the requirements and how i go about it . Wr can i find best discuss fish to start .
I want to keep a single discus fish in my 20gal aquarium. Due to my space limitation only 20gal tank i can use, is it good for a single discus? I plan just to have water plants..thanks in advance...
Excellent video bro... your fish look brilliant as well. I didn’t think people in india liked them... Good luck and all the best for the future my brother 👍🏽
I hope you can help me. I bought a pair too expensive here in dubai. They have been laying eggs but never make it to having any single fry. I dont know if they are both females as only one of them lays the eggs.been seeing them lay eggs and all of those eggs just turns white.so it means it isn't fertilized. What should i do?
Hi.. See that is the problem with breeding pairs.. Lots of them sell them just showing that they have layed eggs.. It's a confirmed pair only once the eggs hatch and the the babies attach to the parents... Like you said it can be 2 females.. Or the male is not fertile.. You need to get methylene blue an anti fungal liquid.. So you can support the eggs from turning white... But eggs also turn white if they are not fertilie..
I do have the methylene blue and i don't remember the name that stops fungos growing in ti the eggs and still it never works. So i suspect the other one is not a male. I have put them back into the discus community tank as i git tired hoping that the female canagain look for another male but they are just unseperable. They have been laying eggs in the community tank for 6times now. Exactly today is their 6th time. I'm pretty sure it isn't gonna be succesful again. Sad but what can i do really🙂
Thank you Bro. . I had 3 breading pairs which I raised from babies. Several times eggs hatched but never survived. All pairs died and left with three fishes. Expecing a pair from them.
Anirban Chatterjee... Bro currently working on my fish room expansion.... Lots of videos coming up.. I need to buy new fish to make that video... So currently making space for that... I will surely make one
hi rahul ji after 3 month finaly my discus pair start breeding egg after it i add mblue to tank but next day i dont see any eg one of them eat the egg why i dont know if u make a video about it it will be very helpfull
See you need to wait and give it some time... Discus need to feel secure and safe before they start breeding... So give them sometime.. Avoid methyl blue.. Use only if the eggs are turning white... Main thing is you need to wait and see... I got success in breed after 11 or 12 times of laying eggs.. Don't worry... Keep tds below 100ppm
@@FwrapperAqua tnx sir tds is 65 and ph6.5 if they lying egg again can i use guard to dont eat eg and i see yo say after lying egg must add some mb to water?
@@saeedrahdari6461 water parameters are OK... Don't do anything now.... Give them sometime... And see after that... To many changes in the tank will disturb them
My Discuss Laid Eggs & the Babies have started moving today only. These eggs were laid on the tank floor (it is bare bottom tank). how to Maintain Water Quality. Much more debris has got collected on the tank floor. please advise. Santosh Parab
I have made a video on how to clean a Discus breeding tank.. I use a very thin pipe and siphon out very careful... May be next time just before the eggs hatch you can clean the tank carefully.. So then you can leave the tank undisturbed till they attach on the parents...
rahul sir i have a doubt that you say eggs is hatch in tds of 60 ppm .. but the problem is when discus laying eggs is tds arround 200 tds so how we can change the tds to 60 because there are som eggs and it should be contious water change and mixed ro water bt one prblm there is eggs so i faceing trouble can i change the water fully or up to the discus eggs randomly plzzzz help me sir i am beginer discus keeper of age 19 plzzz help me
If you are facing white fungus on the eggs after they lay then only you need to add.. If your breeding pair has good fertility then you don't need methylene blue
Hello sir... I love to keep discus very much and have a community tank of discus of different breeds, there are total 8 discus in it of 4 breeds... I just wanted to know any of them will pair up as there are different breeds together.... Plz reply.. thanks.
Dipak Sharma.. Hi... Yes pairing can happen with different discus breeds / variety.. If you see my pair in this video.. They are different varieties they met in my tank and paired up....
First time i shifted my pair in a separate tank (70x40x45cm) after spawning 3x in a community tank and got eaten by others. Any suggestions? I have 6.0 pH in my community tank and now pair shifted into a 6.8-7.0pH. How long it will take for them to lay again? I dont have RO water. Can i use some of my main tank water?
The pH is fine.. You need to also have a Tds below 100 for breeding... Rest is all OK.. Now give them some time to settle in the new tank.. And get used to the place.. Only then will start breeding....
Bro, i got one discus and I am keeping it with 10 angelfish in a 6 feet tank. The discus never gets to eat. Won't they eat from the surface like other fishes. Its been a month since I got it and it hasn't eaten anything except live worms a couple of times. Please help. Its always hiding behind rocks and plants.
Bro Discus is a schooling fish.. You need to keep atleast 6 to 8 nos... Also keeping Discus and angels is a very bad combination... Please see my video on how to keep Discus.. All the details are there
Hello Sir What should be the best water TDS for Discuss? I have ground water with TDS of 1500, will that work for discuss? or do i need to RO first and then use that?
Hi there my discus eggs hatched 2 days a go,are now free swimming and the parents did not eat them .However 2 days later they have started to lay eggs again.Whats your suggestion???
two of my discuss fish which i think are newly form pair are cleaning cone from 3 weeks but not laying eggs should I separate them from community tank our should I wait and let them be in community tank or is it because they are in community tank that's why they are not laying eggs please help me with this
Sir, can u suggest what are all healthy food products to Discuss and Neon Tetra .. because in my near they sale duplicate items only.. so I want to purchase a good product different varites for my tank mates..plz suggest
Hi rahul need advice My red melon pair keep laying eggs every single week last month they have hatched successfully and babies are healthy but since last four attempts the eggs are turning while after 24 hrs and the pair still fan the eggs can you help me the same ??
Hi... May be the eggs are not fertile... If the male is not potent this can happen... So feed them well.. Or worst case you may be having 2 females laying eggs..
My pair used to eat the eggs, now they eat fry with 2 days free swimming. Should I try artificial raising? They had aproximately 20 batches starting in january.
Antonio de Luca... I have faced the same issue... I am still working on artificial raising of the fries.. But very difficult... Not got great success with that...
@@rabbi427 normally 18x18x18 is enough but in some cases if pair size is 6"+ & normally you get spawn size above 300 then better give 24x18x18" in the beginning. its easy to handle big spawn in such tank & also if paired start fight its easy to partition & each piece get 12" space.
