Very cool! I keep Embers in a planted tank and have a dream of someday getting the environment just right so that one day I find some babies in there. I know tetras aren’t the easiest to breed, but that only makes me more interested in learning about their breeding habits and what environments they find most comfortable. Info like this is hard to come by! Many people seem uninterested in breeding tetras.

HI Gart, very glad to know you we have the same interest. I really like keeping and breeding tetras. I'll soon make a video of how they grow into adults. please stay tuned.

I also have about 5 ember tetras with 2 pigmy corys and a few cherry shrimp all in a heavily planted 6 gallon tank with no filter. I was happy to see mature baby ember tetras swimming around with the others yesterday morning. I've only seen about 3 babies. I had a feeling they would start breeding because they would dance around with each other like twiterpated butterflies. I only feed them Omega flakes that I crush up and they obviously are doing well with that. I see little living microbe type things swimming in there sometimes so, I'm sure the babies feed on that. I also have ramshorn snails keeping everything clean. If you plant it right with grasses and such, the babies will have a place to hide from the parents so they can mature.

Dear Tetra Breeder: I’m very pleased to have found your, terrific Channel. Breeding characins is an amazing part of the aquarist hobby. I noticed my Columbian tetra (Hyphessobrycon columbianus) were breeding, about eight years ago, and have kept them going, ever since. Recently, I’ve taken an interest in breeding white cloud mountain minnows (Tanichthys albonubes). I hope to get some, other, tiny, species of fish to breed, eventually. Some use methylene blue to prevent fungus from destroying fish eggs. You had great success, but do you think this would increase your yield? super-jealous of your, amazing breeding projects Keep up your, fantastic hobby and YouTubing. All my best, Sincerely, E. J. Brinegar P.S. May I know your name or how you prefer to be addressed? You can call me “Brinegar.”

Thank you, dear Brinegar, for your interest in my little breeding project. You can just call me tetra breeder or Bo, which is my Chinese name. I'm very interested in breeding characins. They are all small, so I can keep many in my aquarium. And I really enjoy watching them schooling in beautiful aquariums. They are a perfect combination with aquascape. I didn't use methylene blue in this attempt because I didn't get many eggs due to the hot temperature. Ramshorn snails can be very useful to eat all the fungus if we don't have a large yield. Thank you again for your support!

Dear Bo: I find that most RU-vidrs (even in the FishFam Community) don’t want to respond to comments. I don’t understand that. I RU-vid solely to connect with other aquarists. If we share our knowledge and experience, we will have better success keeping our pets and plants healthy and happy. Currently, I’m attempting to avoid pest snails in new aquascapes. Using snails to devour excess food and unfertilized, fish eggs would be a viable option, for your purposes, however. Thank you for corresponding with me. Sincerely, Brinegar

@@bothetetrabreeder8734 yes they have do you have any ideas for a fifthteen gallon aquarium planning do mine using the stocks here in my place. Like a dymax hang on filter hob sf 500 ista substrate and few seryu stones and terra soil for lower position type substrate i am planning an elevated type using a slate rock as a blocking for the ista substrate then the terra soil will be a bottom a multi style level substrate. And dwarf hair grass and few plants to add more beauty within the aquarium tank plus a driftwood for added attraction.

I just found a bunch of orange eggs at the bottom of my tank... they seem quite large to have come from ember tetras and I was hoping to see some here in your video.. but only saw some clear eggs.

Trying to breed these guys in their tank the conditions are right, been growing them out for three months now, theres lots of plants and places to hide and baby shrimp are able to survive so want to see if fry will make it

Yeah, I have also seen my ember tetra fry spawn and grow up in my planted tank. However, that was only one fry... Although ember tetras are very easy to breed, we really need to separate the eggs into a specific container so they will not be eaten by their parents. It's quite a challenge for the fry to successfully hatch and grow into adults in a community tank, even if it's heavily planted. Thanks for your comment! I really appreciate that.

should you acclimate them before putting them in the breeding tank? did you put declorinator in the tap water you put in the fridge?
@bothetetrabreeder8734
@bothetetrabreeder8734 2 года назад
Hi, I don't acclimate them as fresh new water would be a good inducement.Yes the water I put in the fridge is Declorinated.Thanks for your question!

@@bothetetrabreeder8734 my community tank with them has a ph of 6.4. my tap water has a ph of 7.4. I'm scared as it might shock the fish when i put them in the breeding tank with the tap water.
@bothetetrabreeder8734
@bothetetrabreeder8734 2 года назад
Hi, we have the same PH both on the community tank and tap water. My ember tetras were doing OK and can breed the next day . I think it should be OK as long as it's declorinated. If you're uncertain, you can take half water from your community tank and half tap water.

If your water is uncycled how do you keep them alive?
@bothetetrabreeder8734
@bothetetrabreeder8734 2 года назад
Hi Fabienne, We can keep the water clean by doing a little bit of water change every day. The fry can live in a filterless tank if we don't have many of them. Many like hundreds of them. Thanks for your comment.

Hi Mazdiyar.yes, but make sure fish are not feeling stressed in the fishbowl, and also, put a mesh to prevent the egg from being eaten.
