Wow, this got really deep... But I’m very glad you brought this up. I feel like, these days, media is often more centred around enjoying yourself and your life and caring less about what people think. That’s great, that’s a wonderful message, but most *people* that I’m around seem to think very differently. If I don’t take the most difficult classes, I won’t get a good ATAR score; if I don’t push myself beyond my limits, I’m not going to get into university; if I don’t constantly study and learn and fill my brain with things I know I’ll forget in two weeks, then I’m never going to get a job in the field I want and I’ll never make ample money. And I was so certain they were correct that I genuinely believed media was wrong. Which is great for some aspects like alcohol, drugs and sexual interactions, but it meant I haven’t been playing games as much or exercising as much or relaxing. Something you brought up really struck me hard. “Just because it’s the most difficult path, doesn’t mean it will be the most rewarding” And that completely contradicts everything I’ve been taught, what you’re saying in that one sentence is that I don’t have to take the hardest path. It’s funny because when you first brought it up I was shocked, I was speechless and i wanted to tell you that you were wrong. But i thought about it, and now I’m certain you’ve spoken the most correct words that have ever been given to me. So I’m not going to drop the classes I’m taking or drop the extra work or anything... but I’m going to try and enjoy myself more, I think. I’m not going to accept the hardest route just because it’s being offered, I’ll look at the possible outcomes first. I don’t know if this conveyed what I wanted it to convey, I have no idea if this made any sense, I’ve no clue if this sounded remotely accurate to what you were trying to get across, but I wanted to thank you for opening my mind up to this possibility. Also thanks for helping me learn about dragon breeding, while I don’t play flight rising too much anymore this is good info to know! Especially because, when I was playing, I also chose a specific colour to aim towards.
I didn't know that I was going to get that deep when I started the video, but I knew I had things to say and I'm happy that some part of it resonated with you. There are so many expectations we all are told we need to uphold to live a healthy & successful life. Through high school and college, it felt like there was a very defined path for success. The more I measure myself to post-grad mile markers, the less I care about them. Who says I need to be married, work so many hours, or do any of those things? I see plenty of people happy in different paths, and it's me going through the action of living every day. My entire life, I've been told that working hard is virtuous, and I think it's worth considering what that means and when it applies. There are plenty of things worth working hard for. I am happy to work hard and toil over generating certain outputs. I work myself into the ground with my hobbies & job and it's easy to do. But when your only justification to do something is because it's challenging and you're not giving up, that is toxic. I'm stubborn and will go down with a ship for the sake of not giving up. It takes a lot of soul searching to know why you're doing something and how it's effecting you. I'm glad that my situation and rant is helpful if even as a thought exercize. I've been working through it over the past few months and I'm just so happy to get it out there and feel heard!
I wasn't really prepared to be thinking so much about what I want in life after this video, but.. it was nice. It's always good to sit back and reevaluate. Thank you Julie

thanks so much for the advice! i'm relatively new to flight rising so i haven't explored a whole lot of breeding tutorials up until this point. i've just been throwing the dragons i think would yield interesting results together. which i'll still continue to do, because it's fun, but it's cool to be armed with some knowledge nonetheless! ♥ awesome as always!

This is really helpful!~ I was literally just struggling with color breeding the other night ; w ; And ahh I really love your reasons for breeding platinum dragons?? It's so sweet and genuine and I've honestly never put that much thought into that aspect of the game. It made me think of why I'm trying to breed the kind of dream dragon I'm after. I'm usually just like "Yeah it's cause I like Lisa Frank stuff, it's not super deep or anything" but I hadn't really been true to that aspect of myself until more recently. In the past I've had to give up so much of my independence and individuality to help those around me get through hard times, so much so that I left myself behind. When the dust finally settled, I realized that I had no idea who I was. I was lost and I didn't feel like I was unique or had an original personality. I was worried and sad that I would always be this way, but lately I've had a lot of time to figure out who I am and I love a lot of bright colorful stuff like Japanese fashion and bright designs like things you see in retro anime or Lisa Frank like I mentioned. Thinking on it, it's a nice reminder that I'm growing as an individual and growing into my personality. It's really nice to stop and think about stuff like that and hearing you talk about New York was very refreshing

This is really helpful! Sadly, though, because all of my dragons are pretty much all the same I try to get new ones but when I breed their babies are like the last ones (from the parent I already had). Julie I would like to ask you what genes are “rare” and how to get them if you don’t have a dragon that has them?And I would like to ask you what dragons are worth 100 gems? I’m currently just trying to get gems for chicken smoothie :D My dream pet there is a red cerb (but who cares lol) Thank you! Hey, Mare Rose! There are few different classifications of breeds and genes, ranging from Common to Rare, but it sounds like you already know that. The list of genes in each category keeps growing and will, but the good news is that people on the forums chart them out. The list is pretty long because there are Rare Primary (crystal, iridescent, etc), Secondary (butterfly, shimmer, etc), and Tertiary (circuit, glimmer, etc) genes. To get rare genes, you can either buy the gene applicator (with gems), or buy a dragon that has the genes already. But it is very unlikely that a rare gene will pass on unless both parents have rare genes. They can have different rare genes, like the mother has circuit, father has glimmer, there's a 50% chance for either gene in the offspring. I introduce genes in my lair by buying dragons with those genes. It takes longer, but in the long term, it's cheaper. What dragons are worth 100 gems? Good question! I would have to check the market price for a level 25 dragon, that might qualify. A baby dragon with a recently released gem gene may run that amount. I wouldn't pay that much for a dragon. It really depends on the buyer and the seller! Good luck getting your red cerb. I hope I answered your questions!

Hey! Not sure if these are welcome but if they are, I have some pet sim suggestions! Mweor - not sure if you've heard of this one, I don't think that it's very big, but I played it a bit in 2015. I don't play anymore (I'm terrible at commitment. Like, I want to play pet sims consistently, but I just kinda fall out of habit.) but I remember it being quite a bit of fun when I did. I don't remember much about it, but it's centered around cats, and I quite like the art. Since i'm a fan of cats and art, it was right up my alley. (I think it was my first pet sim!) Furry-Paws - fun pet sim about dogs. I remember getting onto it every day. I haven't played in a while and I just logged on and all of my dogs are gone so I think I got hacked (or the dogs died somehow. I don't remember dogs being able to die, tho.) It's pretty fun. Give it a try. Both of those, I don't remember the best. I played them for a while, liked them, but honestly I have no clue how to play anymore. But this next one is a lot closer to my heart. Ovipets - You may have heard of it, I love this game. Except I keep quitting and then all my pets die and then I come back and then all my pets are dead and I die a little inside. Now, Ovipets is.. A facebook game. But it isn't bad, and you only need to register with facebook. You can play off of facebook after. Anyway. It is tHE BOMB dIGIGiTy. It's genetics based. Kinda like Flight Rising. There are a ton of different species (cats, dogs, bears, bunnies, raccoons, dragons.. there's something for everybody here.) and it's a whole lot of fun. Your pets can have mutations, which gives them unique traits (snow leopard spots, lion tails, demon eyes, etc.) and of course there's also the color part. People make 'projects' where they breed certain mutations and colors onto pets and breed them until they get the desired result (usually requires generating pets) and then sell or keep them. It's also very community based. There's groups, there's games (none of the typical minigames; Other players make things like 'mine' games where they post an image of a pet and the first person to say 'mine' gets it. I was good at those.) there's pet bombs (people who give people tons of pets in one gift) etc etc. Females have a (usually) 24hr breed cooldown, and males have no breed cooldown. That's right. They can breed infinitely. And if you put them up for breed, others can breed with them. Either for free, or they pay money to. New species are always being released, and new people are always joining I believe. Other people can adopt your pets, or eggs, or you can sell them.. It's pretty cool. Only bad thing I can think of is that you need to feed pets or they'll die, but it costs no money. In fact, you could play ovipets entirely without ANY money. Only thing it's used for is buying pets and researching pets (you need to research pets to generate them) and also generating pets, but you could have a normal experience without having a single Credit (the currency) which you get thru real money. So, if you're willing to get on facebook for 5 seconds to play, it's a really rewarding experience. I've rambled for too long about this. If it sounds fun, just look it up.
