I always Lookup other videos and spend so much doing conversions and then forget them every time plus the videos are 20 mins for one type he just explain how to do over 3 In 5 mins. I’ve always just made my green tea with the stove top kettle/boiling water. I liked it, but it was bitter. Then I got an electric kettle where I could control the temp of the water, and wow - what a difference. I’ve been drinking Rishi super matcha, mix of matcha and I think konacha, though it is a bag tea. Looking forward to trying more of the loose green teas I have.

As an advent tea drinker, some cups I've made it just felt like it was either I drank too much or too little. I know when it comes to tea, people ask, "How can it be too little or too much?" But, I try to tell them, it's not how much is consumed, but whither if you're brewing it right.

How about matcha? For the second and third infusion, is the temperature of the water is the same as the first?
@migueschindler

matcha dissolves in water when brewing so you drink all of it, there is no second or third infusion (same as instant coffee)
@cheafflaff1573

can you do a 2nd infusion with all teas or just with gyokuro?
@Nioteas

you can do a 2nd and 3rd infusion with all high quality teas I can think of (of course teabags don't count as they are low quality and designed to infuse quickly) but some teas can be infused many more times that that

Hi! I just started drinking tea and got a Gyokuro to try out. Used the ratios this video suggests and brewed 3 infusions, didn't recall correctly so brewed at 70 degrees. After some time I got caffeine high? I don't know but spent the afternoon with anxiety and what not. Is this normal? Should I start with a low caffeine tea first before getting into something like Gyokuro? thanks!
@Nioteas
@Nioteas 2 года назад
yes this is a high caffeine tea with about as much caffeine as a cup of coffee. The theanine seems to help most people avoid this jittery or anxious feeling, but it is possible to still have too much. I guess you should start out with a lower caffeine tea. The Karigane Sakamoto is good because it has a similar flavor with much less caffeine

I have a question that I feel silly to ask because I think I'm missing something really basic. I'm used to brewing black English teas at home 1 cup at a time, so with my electric kettle it's a straight forward process of almost always 1 tsp of leaves into a strainer and after heating the cup I just add the strainer and fill the whole cup with water, wait, remove, and drink directly. I want to try making some of these Japanese green teas as well and the directions are more drastically different in ratio then I expected, like 210mL to 2 Tbsp of leaves. How do you measure the water you use when brewing like this? Usually I hear over a liter in the electric kettle and fill the cup, but no way it does a quantity as small as .2L. Do you actually pour into a glass measuring cup first and then the pot? I think I'm missing something basic.
@Nioteas
@Nioteas Год назад
after awhile I just start to eyeball it, it doesn't need to be completely exact. You can start with half a cup

Quick question - How do I know when the ater has 70°???
@xyanide1986

It's common practice to pour the boiling water into a cup to let it cool before adding it to the leaves in the pot. You can also use a simple meat thermometer.

On your video you state for fukamuchi sensha use 5 g, 150 ml water, 70 C, first brew 45 s, then 20 s for second and third brew. In your web site you state use 60 C. On the package which holds tea it states 65 C. So I am confused about temperature of brewing.
