You cant fix it. Apple makes them DELIBERATELY weak so you are forced to buy new ones or the earpods.. See they changed the desin of the plug from iphone 5 onwards, now you can't even use other random headphones from other makers.

KrazeeComedy you can buy metal mesh and cut a piece out and replace it.

Instead of doing that dirt and ear wax will very verg rarely get dirt or earwax in there

I’m glad it worked for you. I would be careful with the toothbrush though. It can actually push some of that gunk inside the grill. I don't have a needle so I'm trying to use a thumb tack instead. A girl I've dated off and on have me these ear buds (exact ones in this video) almost 2 years ago and they only just gave me an issue today. I went to wipe them out but apparently I fucked up because after I did the right bud started being a dick lol. But, while I appreciate how you might not be fond of them, theyve given me far more mileage than I ever expected! I've bought several for typically $15 or less that would last a maximum of 2 months before one ear shorts out completely, but these that came with an old IPhone she bought a few years back somehow proved the more quality product. I actually have a great set of Sony Bluetooth earbuds, but unfortunately they aren't compatible with my Xbox One S so hopefully I'm capable of effectively putting your tutorial here into practice. 😅. If not I suppose I'll finally have to his these farewell and buy some new ones, but either way I appreciate you posting this!! (It'd be way easier if you could just come do it for us, but maybe that's asking a bit too much eh 😁)

Yeah but if you don’t take the grill out where do you think that stuff is going? It gets pushed through the grill and will eventually build up.

Charles Yamabe I cleaned it before hand with peroxide and while brushing was holding it upside down. Hope this helps

Wavy_Nick yeah they both get clogged. It’s best to put them back after cleaning to avoid the gunk going inside the headphone.

You can make a new grill if you really want. I made one once out of some metal mesh. You can even use the metal screen that’s used in faucets. Hey would you mind doing me a favor? Charles Yamabe... yeah, definitely. People might not like the way they sound, $40 at Best Buy new, but still do well. I have yet to buy them, but silicon gels that fit over them and make a better fit, keep the wax and crap out.
