God loves you all! The Father sent the Son to die for you and your sins so that you could experience freedom to the fullest! Believe in Christ's death and resurrection (which sealed the work done on the cross) for your salvation and the forgiveness of sins! Amen!

the hi hats sounded too uniform and lifeless in terms of dynamics, he actually reintroduced more dynamics by allowing those transients to peak through while taming the tails and room of the recorded, of course it was an aggressive process, it could have been toned down a bit on the threshold, but you gotta remember how it sounds in context with the rest
agreed with both of you here. he probably needed more of the dynamics to then go with in the context of the mix. here he's just demonstrating how he went about it. giving a sense of more movement or energy to the dynamics at play
Interesting concept, which belies the idea that the drummer should be providing sufficient 'energy' to make the performance 'interesting'. Wonder what Bonzo would have thought of this video....
@@WildAnalog Certainly, but I doubt Eddie Kramer sat there fussing with a bus compressor worrying about 'hi-hat energy'. The energy was provided by the drummer - as it should be...
Tony didn't belie anything. He's just doing his job as a mixing engineer to make that energy more noticeable to people's ears. You can't beat a great drummer, but a good mixer will know how to showcase the qualities of the recording that make it stand out more.
