Lovely video, as a grandmother creating wealth entails establishing positive routines, such as consistently setting aside funds at regular intervals for sound investments. Financial management is a vital subject that many avoid, often leading to future regrets.

Really enjoy your content, and completely sympathise with over paying mortgage. I’ve looked to do the same for a couple of years. After a few months this of overpaying I didnt understand why my monthly interest didn’t come down, it was because they only recalculated when they received a single overpayment of £1000 or more. It’s worth checking your loan terms and managing your payments accordingly

Such a huge weight off your shoulders if you can achieve it! Fingers crossed anyway haha! And the property investment is a bit of both I guess, obviously one day, I’d like to use some of the money towards paying off mortgage/spending money in retirement and then maybe gift to the kids as an investment property when they’re older maybe! Our flat ‘investment property’ brings in approx £600 profit a month which is good and that on the lower rent we ask for. It was our first place which we just didn’t sell. I think we’ll do the same once we’ve finished renovating our house. Although stamp duty is a b**ch. We’ve put some savings into a fixed bond which will return £2,500 profit and then we’ll pay a chunk of the house mortgage off. It’s shocking how much it saves in interest alone. Have you look at the fixed bonds recently they’re really good! I need to do this and write everything down. I’ve got hyper jar which I love but I’ve been meaning to sit down for years and do it all properly like this. Will be downloading your Etsy product 🙏🏼

Shan, only a question - are you planning to do any KIT (keeping in touch) days? Some companies pay for KIT day as full day regardless the hours you work, I am not sure how this is in civil service. I've curtailed my maternity leave and went on shared parental leave, as SPL offers more KIT days for both parents than staying on maternity leave only. It's just a question as for some parents it may be beneficial to plan for KIT days when SMP finishes.

That's a good question. Me and my partner calculate our joint net income and then work out what my proportion is and what his proportion is and pay joint expenses based on those proportions. @MarthaMessage
@MarthaMessage 5 месяцев назад
@@racheldixon387 exactly, that’s what I used to do with my ex. If one of you earns more but is still paying the same that would leave them lots more spare cash which wouldn’t seem fair to me if you’re in a committed relationship/marriage. But as you say, each to their own!

@@mooncherie1 yep absolutely. It generally wouldn’t make sense to me for one person who is in a committed relationship with kids to have more extra money than the other anyway since I’d expect they’d want to spend any extra cash on the same things like holidays, the house, family days out etc.

Life is expensive and wages for a lot of us aren’t cutting it. It’s not fair, but it’s definitely the case for a lot of people right now. But what I would say, is no matter how much money you have, budgeting really can help! Believe me, when I was on £20k a year and just bought our first house… we were scrimping by😅 But even if you can manage to put £10 or £20 a month into a pot towards next Xmas… that’s £120 or £240 that you wouldn’t have to spend in December 2024! We had absolutely no national debt, had a large middle class,a huge manufacturing base, and Mum stayed home to raise the kids. What in the Hell happened? Could it be the lying parasitic politicians wasting our money? Oh, and don't forget the relatively new bank charges.... And we all know what we think of Bankers. I hope this goes around the UK at least 1,000,000,000 times!!! YOU can help it get there!

May totally be none of my business, you and ash have a baby. Your income has been cut by maternity leave and then that ending. I understand everything being 50/50 but your maternity leave should also be accommodated for by Ash.

Also if you are working reduced hours, 4 days or less in September. And ash is working full time, you should be “paid” or financially compensated by paying less bills for the time you spend with the kids.

I’m nearly the same age and you seem so much more mature than me. I know everyone is different and everyone is in different stages in life but I would love to be as mature as you and have my life more together. How did you become so mature if you don’t mind me asking? It seems to come very natural for you which is amazing. Love your channel Shan 🤍
